  1. C'mon Eric, show us the modifications to the transom saver and left fender.
  2. You were quick. I saw the error and edited it within a couple of minutes.
  3. Pickerel belly makes incredible bait. An old gent showed me how to do it years ago. Get an in line spinner rig like this. http://www.cabelas.c...%3Bcat104400180 You can use a treble or a single hook, which ever you prefer. Catch a pickerel. Slit it open from the vent to the neck. The flexible belly skin, away from the ribs, is the preferred part to use. Cut tear drop shaped pieces from the soft belly meat. Try various lengths to see what works best. Hook it through the broad end so the point trails. I've caught some of my biggest fish, smallmouth, pickerel (36 inch) and crappie (16.5 inch) on this simple rig. It works much better than pork rinds. A small pickerel, ten inches or so should yield four to six baits, depending on size. I made them about an inch and a half long, back in the 1960s. I've been meaning to try this again since I resumed fishing in 2008. Maybe this year.
  4. Private or public, all ponds/lakes are not created equal. Some folks have access to great fishing waters, be they public or private. Some fishermen are confined to the shore. Others may use float tubes, or canoes, or kayaks, or jon boats, or full fledged bass boats with every electronic device known to man. Is it wrong for those with all the latest and greatest equipment to "brag" about their catches? Of course not. If you have great ponds to fish that happen to be private, there is no need to feel "guilty" about your successes while fishing those waters. Fishermen usually look for every advantage they can find to enhance their fishing experience. If one of those advantages happens to be access to private ponds, so be it. Many who call it shooting fish in a barrel would jump at the chance to fish those waters. If you think not, how many fishermen do you know who choose to fish waters where they are least likely to have success?

  6. I made it home, ...............finally. It seemed like a forever drive. I'm in full Zombie mode today. If I can muster up the energy, I will wash and vacuum the boat, then put it in the garage and give it a good coat of cleaner glaze followed by a coat of wax, apply a coat or two of Armorall on the rubrail and clean the seats with a vinyl cleaner. Check the tire pressures, wheel lube, and be ready to do some fishin' around here. It was a great time. Had a great time fishing with many different members. The weather fought us every step of the way, but the social activities, from the soiree to the Alpster cajun dinner were great. Looking forward to next year's shindig.
  7. And not a shout out for the "guide".
  8. The only place I didn't look is the glove compartment. If it's in there, I'm better than Houdini. It's the only, and the last time I did not lock up the tailgate on my cap. Yes, I did forget to secure it.
  9. I have arrived in GA. Will be on the Gville tomorrow, bright and early.
  10. I have two. I'll guarantee it won't be anything near like we fished in at Pickwick two years ago. Steezy and I fished in the monsoon that shut down Nashville, and parts of I-40. Big O had two bilge pumps running in his boat and the water in the cockpit was above his ankles.
  11. Saturday's weather for Gville, NOTICE potential for heavy rainfall. Also the possibility of thunder.
  12. The only thing you can do to protect it/yourself against theft is to buy insurance.
  13. I sent you a pm with my phone number so you can reach me about fishing together late Thursday morning and afternoon. I should have the break in completed by mid morning, so we can dedicate ourselves to fishing. I'll be launching somewhere in the vicinity of the Hampton Inn, but not sure when. Send me a pm and we'll work it out.
  14. I'm getting confused as to who is fishing with whom, and when. Saturday is set. Sunday ? Monday is set with RW. Tuesday ? Wednesday ? Thursday set with Glenn and Keri, Fri ?. In 5 or 6 hours I'm outta here. I'm sure it will all get sorted out by Long Mike, if necessary.
  15. Road Warrior is fishing with me on Monday. It's tough keeping track of things but according to my calendar a seat is open for a third on Monday. Let me know. I'm outta here, and headed south in about 12 hours. I'll send you a pm with my cell and truck numbers. You can check in with me that way. I'm not likely to be on a computer between now and then.
  16. That works. It'll probably be you, me, and Simp. I'm guessing you made out ok to get a cot or something for a third to sleep in the room? I'm guessing since you refer to me as roomie.
  17. Great news. Now that the stress is over, you can relax.
  18. If you need a horse's head, I can probably work something out. I'll bring it with me if need be. I'll have to get a much bigger cooler to keep it well iced and fresh. I'll tell the check in associates that I'm leaving the cooler, and its contents, for you, and ask them to take care of it for safe keeping.
  19. Okay, that fills me up for Wednesday. I nearly forgot Simp. Don't ask me how. He's not easy to forget. I'm about worn out getting everything together for a midnight blast off in about 29 hours. Still have one seat for Tuesday. Nothing booked for Friday, so it's wide open for two, if need be.
  20. I'm still wide open on Tuesday, and Friday. Sunday may be open as well, but not sure yet.
  21. Okay, you are penciled in. First come, first served.
  22. I have room for two on Wed. Let me know and I'll pencil it in.
  23. Some folks swear at them instead of by them, but my Z-7 came with Trail-America tires. I've been to GA twice, Pickwick and KY Lake, plus two summers of fishing around here and they still looked like new when I traded in my rig. Conservatively, I towed that trailer 15,000 miles and they still looked new. When I got a spare for the rig, I got the wheel and a Carlisle tire for half the money that BPS wanted for a spare tire and wheel. The wheel I got is galvanized to boot. It has yet to make contact with the road. I do maintain the tires at near the maximum recommended pressure. It may make for harsher ride for the boat, but it rolls a lot easier. And, the rig is garaged which protects the tires from the sun's Ultraviolet rays.
  24. I have one seat open for Sunday, maybe two, but I'm holding one for Raider Nation. He's hoping to make it for one day's fishing (Sunday), but not absolutely certain.
  25. Maybe the Hampton would let you put a cot or an air mattress in a room with two beds. Why don't you check? Wouldn't bother me to have a third in the room, and Scorcher is riding with you so what's he going to say?
