Absolutely filthy? Then this guy must be part of your family. Bathless Groggins was an old time cartoon character.

Darn, another opportunity for a witty retort goes down the drain. Why does this have to be a family friendly forum?

Uhhhhh, how can I phrase this delicately. I'd like some clarification about the, "She hasn't touched my......................................." On second thought, nevermind.

Malapropisms
Norm Crosby is famous for twisting English words that sound very close to what should be said but have an entirely different meanings. A friend of mine comes up with some corkers. His wife worked in the cafeteria of a mental health hospital. When telling me about his wife's job he said it's where they take care of the depressed mannequins.

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
If you don't know what a soiree is consider yourself disinvited. It's fancy talk for fancy people, understood by the elite of the world. Riff raff will only degrade the cameraderie of us beautiful people. Get your license online. Print it out in the comfort of home. Print a couple of them and stow one in your wallet, and the other in your boat.

Minn Kota Talon Or A Power Pole?
Unless I'm mistaken, the housing for the Talon stays where it is even when deployed. The anchor pole telescopes down from the housing, which remains upright. With the Power Pole, the upright portion swings down and gets it out of the way for anyone fishing from the back seat.

How To Fix Screw Holes In Fiberglass
You could get a screw through it. It sets up like rubber. An easier fix is to get a screw anchor at a hardware store that is the proper size. When you run the screw in it expands against the sides of the hole, making for a tight connection. They come in different styles, sizes and lengths. They image is just one of many types.

In that case, bondo will work fine.

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
Not that many for me. I'm down to 21 or 22 before I head down the highway. My reservations start Friday night, but wih our daughter living less than two hours from where we'll be staying, I could leave here as early as Tuesday. If I do the Bonzai Run (17 - 18 hours), I'll be at her home by nine o'clock that night. If I do, I might fish Weiss Lake which is less than an hour away for a couple of days. Fuel will be the biggest travelling expense for me. Most of it will be the round trip between here and there. At the current prices, I'm guesstimating 800 bucks for the truck's fuel. May as well fish 8 - 10 days if possible. That works out to about a hundred dollars per day of fishing. Five days of fishing would be 160 dollars per day of fishing. That doesn't include fuel for the boat or the truck, but that should be tolerable. I'm not the buzz here and there type of fisherman. I like to launch at the area we plan to fish for the day. Retirement is great.

How To Fix Screw Holes In Fiberglass
That is an absurd price unless they are trying to match a metalflake gel coat which is very tricky. Check the directions on the epoxy. Make sure it's ok for immersion or suitable for bath and tub use. If it says marine grade or similar you should be ok. Get the kind that comes in a double syringe that meter out the proper ratio. Most any epoxy should do provided that it will tolerate moisture. Here's an easy, but effective cheat. When you have the holes filled and level enough to suit you, you can color them with a Sharpie. They are available in various colors. Touch up as needed. For something more permanent, fingernail polish works great to touch up tiny dings and diggers. It's available in all the colors of the rainbow. A bottle of nail polish will cost from three to five dollars. A bottle will touch up hundreds of filled holes.

Tim Tebow Is A New York Jet!
That shows how much attention I pay to football. I am amused by the flak that Tebow is getting. I'd bet a lot of it stems from the fact that more than a few folks object to his expressions of faith. That based on the amount of ridicule I've seen in comments and articles that is directed at him. I don't know. He may be a flop, or he may develop into great quarterback. I do think the Broncos and Manning are both foolish. Manning has nothing left to prove, unless he hopes to tie his brother for Superbowl wins. He certainly doesn't need the money. It's a huge gamble for Denver, and an even bigger gamble for Manning. Denver could end up flushing that money down the drain, but Manning could flush his health and well being down the drain.

Rather than bondo, you can use epoxy. Fill the hole, and let it cure. Epoxy will make a better seal than bondo. You should not have any problems with water soaking into the wood where the screws were removed.

How To Fix Screw Holes In Fiberglass
If you are going to paint it, the easiest fix is to whittle some wooden pegs that will just fit into the holes. Coat them with epoxy, and tap them into the holes. If they protrude above the surface, it's not a problem. When the epoxy sets up, use a sharp chisel to trim the excess that is above the surface. Sand, prime and paint. Done properly, you'll have an invisible fix. 3M 5200 is great stuff, but can be messy to work with, and it takes a while to cure, unless you get the fast cure version.

Tim Tebow Is A New York Jet!
Luck, where preparation meets opportunity. He was lucky to have won the Heisman. He was lucky that Denver chose him as their first round draft pick. Then again, what do those who choose the Heisman Trophy winner know? Or the Denver Broncos for that matter. Based on what has been posted here, Brady is a has been. Lost the last two Super Bowls the Pats were in, against the Giants of all teams. These were games the Pats were supposed to win, hands down, according to the "experts". Unless I'm mistaken the Pats missed the playoffs at least one of the years in between their two Superbowl losses.

Eastern Mass Get Togethers - 2012 Season
I'm having to bow out too. Sorry, but unforseen circumstances, and unchangeable scheduling for the next three weeks have fouled up my plans. Things that must be done, if I'm to get out of here in time to attend the road trip.

Home Depot carries 3M 5200 in tubes. You can find it in the glues area of the paint department.

Funniest Thing I Had Seen
That's very funny. Reminds me of something I saw several years ago. It happened at the Mass Lobstermen's Assoc. annual meeting at a Cape Cod hotel. A large room at their convention center had many vendors from trap manufacturers, rope companies, engine manufacturers like Caterpillar, Deere, etc. One fellow was hawking plastic radar reflectors. He was slamming one on the concrete floor every time someone walked by. Eventually, the thing struck at a critical point, and it shattered like an egg shell. Nothing like seeing an advertising blooper up close and personal.

Tim Tebow Is A New York Jet!
LOL. I was merely replying to someone who called Tebow lucky. Did you miss my closing sentence? I was a Giants fan before there was a Boston Patriot football team. However, I lost interest when the NFL players went out on strike. I did get to see the Giants finally win it all after years of frustration back in the 50s and 60s when they lost to Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts, Bart Starr and the Green Bay Packers, and the Chicago Bears. After that they declined to the depths of futility for a couple of decades. Anyway, this was how I closed my post. The lucky comments were facetious. Everyone knows the Pats were the better team everywhere but where it counted, on the scoreboard.

Movies For 2012
Hunger Games. What an appropriate name for a movie. Is it a movie about the concession stands at the theaters? Who can afford their prices for popcorn and a drink?

Rod Holder In Front Of Console
I've had the vertical rod holders in my salt water boats/skiffs. I figured there had to be a reason you don't see them on fresh water bass boats. After getting and fishing from a bass boat, I can give you my personal observations. There are times you will need to follow a fish around the boat. If they dive under the boat and head for the stern, you'll have your hands full trying to get your rod around those vertical rods while trying to control a fish, perhaps a fish that will your personal best, provided you can boat it. If you're fishing close to a bank with overhanging branches you could end up with a serious ooops. Same thing for passing under bridges with little overhead clearance. Murphy's Law seems to take over at the worst possible time. The vertical holders do get them out from under foot, but they also present a downside in that compromise.
