You Have To Admit This Makes Logical Sense.
Nothing arbitrary about the metric system? What logic did they use to determine the length of a meter? As for the temperature thing, the Celsius system is just as arbitrary as the Fahrenheit system for temps, though maybe just a bit neater. Celsius decided that water freezes at zero degrees and boils at one hundred degrees. Any measurement of temperature is a measure of heat. Heat is present at zero degrees Celsius or temps below zero would not be possible. Let zero represent absolute zero where there is the total absence of heat, and go from there. But even then what constitutes a degree would still be arbitrary. Speaking of time, there are sixty seconds in a minute, sixty minutes in an hour, and twenty four hours in a day. A day is not precisely twenty four hours long. That's why we have "leap year" to reset the clocks. About those 24 hour days, why do we have a.m. and p.m. to roughly designate the daylight and night time hours. Why not just use military or science "time" where ten p.m. is called 2200 hours, etc? edit: What about time zones? Now, for the stacking of the date to form a pyramid, that makes a bit more sense, but not because it forms a pretty pyramid, but because in the sequence of the date numbers, the one we are most likely to know is the year, with the month not far behind. The day is another matter. I have no problem remembering the month or year, but the day number is an entirely different matter. It's not a matter of forgetfulness. It's just that most retired folks' lives aren't governed by the time and date to the same degree as those who work and deal with those numbers on a daily basis. Considering dates. Who determined which months have thirty days and which have thirty-one days except for February which has 28, except for every fourth year when it has 29? Why not create a logical, sensible, system which measures days months and years in such a way that we do not need a leap year to "adjust" the system? Don't get me started on the idiosyncracies of languages.

1998 Yamaha Vmax Ox66 200Hp Knock
Sounds ominous to me. If you can get a grip on the flywheel, remove all the spark plugs, then rock the flywheel back and forth. If you have slop in a journal, wrist pin, etc., you may hear and/or feel it. If you don't, turn the flywheel ninety degrees and rock the flywheel again. Still nothing, turn another ninety degrees and repeat. This will not necessarily reveal the problem, but it may, and at least you won't tear the engine apart in the process. I'll second the "do not run it". All you'll do is increase the repair cost, or wreck the block if something breaks in the powerhead. Your best bet is to get it to a reputable technician along with the video.

Rod Storage In Your Jon Boat...
A word to the wise. Seats in small boats are often structural components. They serve two purposes. The first and obvious is to provide a place to park one's butt. The second, which too many who modify boats aren't aware of, is that those seats, bulkheads, etc., serve to strengthen and stiffen the hull. In some cases, they may also contain flotation foam. The boat may seem to be stiff enough, but it puts extra strain on the bow joinery and the corners at the stern. Fishing poles have several eyes along their length. That is to distribute the force evenly, or appropriately along the length of the rod. Remove any or many, and the rod becomes severely compromised. The gunnels of a boat are similar to fishing rods.

I'm Nervous About Launching My Jon Boat From Trailer For The First Time.
I'll add this to your list. If you are alone, be sure to attach a sufficient length of line to the bow of the boat that will allow you to pull the trailer clear of the water without pulling on the boat. Be sure to attach the opposite end to the trailer, or hang onto it with your hand as you pull the trailer clear of the water. Once the trailer clears the water, you can pull the trailer to the ramp, or to a dock when possible. If there is a sandy or grassy shore beside the ramp, pull the boat onto that. Concrete ramps are tough on the bottom of any boat, and they will always contact the ramp in the same spot on the bottom. It's not a bad idea to get a cheap pair of hip boots or waders. In the colder weather, you can still get in the water to move the boat off the trailer on onto the beach. At some ramps, they are almost a necessity. They are even more helpful when loading the boat onto the trailer.

Last 8 Trips....no Bass. I Need Help
The solution might be in your original post. Not just worms, but various creature baits as well. Wacky worm, shaky head, Keitech or Lunker City swimbaits. Keitech swing impact fat, and lunker city grubsters and ribsters. Zoom Fat Alberts or Rage Tail Grub, Menace, and Structure Bug are all fish producing baits. I rig any of them on a Keitech, 1/8th ounce tungsten jig head with a 2/0 or 3/0 hook. Like so. Use a drop of super glue to secure the nose of the bait to the jig head. The hook in the image is a Jackall wacky jig head, but I prefer the Keitech tungsten jig heads for rigging the above baits. Took this picture before trying the Keitech products. Either will catch fish, but I have come to prefer the Keitech, except for wacky wormin'. Let any of the above baits sink to the bottom, and retrieve them sloooowwwwlly. Do not use the reel to retrieve the bait. Retrieve it by lifting the rod, then reel to take up the slack. An occasional twitch or shake give it a different look to the fish. You'll want a jig head designed for shaky head fishing. If you can use lead, Spot Removers are a good choice. If you don't want to, or cannot use lead, the Vike tungsten shaky jig head is an excellent option. Keitech also makes a shaky head hook. I prefer 3/16th ounce for shaky head fishing. You might go heavier or lighter. The only way to know is to try the various options.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
You guys would do well to listen to Grampa. I met him four years ago and been fishing with him ever since. He hasn't given me a bum steer yet. Be advised, one of his favorite "lines" is "I fished there once, but it was a long time ago." When he says that, you can be certain that he is on a first name basis with many of the fish in that pond/lake, and that he knows where every bump and blade of grass is on the bottom.

You're welcome. LOL, don't anyone tell tpc that 40 mph in a bass boat ain't flying. But if you've never been 40 mph on the water it certainly seems like flying, when you're running into a heavy chop.

U.s Open
I don't get the flip flopping either. In fact, it doesn't matter if they call a hole a par one or a par ten, the only thing that matters at the end of the day is the total number of strokes made by a golfer without regard to what is "par for the course".

What's It All Coming To?
There is little point in fretting about where the world is heading. Recently, some scientists declared that the human race, as we know it, will be extinct within a hundred years.

Another Caught Cheating
Where or when did I say it was okay for the guy to cheat. And you are correct. Steal a nickel or a million dollars and you are still a thief. There is nothing "gray" about that. True that everything we talk about is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. But I don't see the same "passion" in those discussions.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
It's going on three weeks now that this little pond has been on fire. I went out yesterday afternoon for about four hours and caught over thirty largemouth and one smallmouth bass. Caught only two pickerel. Even they can't seem to beat the largemouth to the bait. Going out again tomorrow morning in my canoe (haven't been on the Nitro in three weeks) to see if they are still in a cooperative frame of mind. I've never seen anything like it over such an extended period of time. It hasn't mattered if it's cloudy or sunny, rainy or dry, windy or calm, or the passage of weather fronts. These are not hungry, skinny bass. They are all plump with plenty of spunk when they realize they are hooked. I've had days when the fishing has been as good, or nearly as good, but not for days on end. The best part is that it's only five minutes from my doorstep to the ramp. I'm going to make the most of it while it lasts.

Another Caught Cheating
No, not the guy's attorney. Just an old fisherman who doesn't waste much time fretting over things beyond my control, and to put it bluntly, quite insignificant in the overall scheme of things. When I was a commercial lobsterman, I detested and still do detest those who violate the law by taking short lobsters and egg bearing lobsters. Having said that, I never got as worked up over those who did take those lobsters as it appears some have over cheating to win a tournament in which they did not participate.

Another Caught Cheating
Then maybe law enforcement should get involved when anyone cheats at a NASCAR race. Or maybe when a pitcher doctors the ball, or Jerry Rice used too much stickum, or Brady for having the football deflated. It was a club tournament for crying out loud.

Anybody Here Know What This Is?
It looks like part of a valve body to me. I see three others in the photo like the one the key is touching. Two look like they should have "O" rings on them. My guess, and it's just that, is that it has something to do with controlling the oil/fuel ratio. Ace Hardware has a pretty thorough "O" ring selection. You might find something there. I have found "O" rings for pneumatic nailers, and other tools including the trigger on a spray gun.
