  1. I figured I'd take a stab at posting this here to see if there was anyone available to link with for the (2) BFL Tournaments on Lake Toho in March to guarantee us both entry as I am a co-angler. Please drop me a note here and I'll be happy to get back to you asap to link up. Thanks Mike
  2. Thanks for the replies and insight guys. I am not sure where mine were made, but assume out of the country of course.
  3. I currently run GY Marathons on my trailer and have now had a 2nd tire that has warped on me and am fed up with GY. I am not sure what causes this to happen, but it seems odd that it has now happened on a 2nd tire in only 4 years. The boat/trailer gets used weekly so it isn't from sitting around. I have been trying to find some reviews on other brands and have seen a lot about Carlisle having issues in many cases as well. Not sure what else is available....has anyone heard of Maxxis, no anything about them or have any other thoughts? Thanks
  4. Yes, this is my 4th year with Bay Area! Hope to see you out there.
  5. Don't forget to get your entry in for the Lake Tarpon open! Launch order determined by entry date!
  6. Just wanting to get this out to those in the area that there is a team open tournament being held at out of Anderson Park on Lake Tarpon on Sunday March 13th, 2011! Come out and join us! http://www.bayareabassmasters.com/PDF/Open%20Flyer%20March%202011.pdf
  7. Heading over to Boggy Creek to launch this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any insight into this lake at this time of year. I can't seem to locate much info. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. Thanks gar-tracker....we did fish the monkey box area a bit and stayed in the Uncle Joes canal mostly due to the winds blowing. Caught a ton of fish but all between 12-14inches. The winning team ran north and braved the winds to get across the lake and they won with over 20lbs per day.
  9. I appreciate the luck, going to need it! I know we'll catch em but would be nice to find a couple of big ones during the weekend!
  10. Thanks, its just a local club so no issues. We all seek out help wherever we can find it.
  11. I am late in getting a post up here but hoping that someone might be able to point me to a good spot area on Okeechobee for this weekend. Launching out of Rolands for my two-day classic and dont know the lake well and usually fish the rim canal because of it. Was going to work the canal off of Uncle Joes but could really use a spot or two if anyone has something they could share. Thanks
  12. Would anyone know where I might be able to find a new handle assembly for a Shimano Stella 2500 FA. My handle cracked in some rough water and I can't find a replacement. Thanks for any help!
  13. I never followed up, but have had some success getting sponsors for our club. I went through email and just sent out a bunch of emails to describe our club, where we fish, and what we offer the sponsor in return for their sponsorship. I found that a well worded email was generally well rec'd. I tended to go towards smaller or up and coming sponsors as most of the big companies don't deal with clubs. Also chase down local businesses that are related (marine repair, tackle shops, etc.). The companies we gained as sponsors were (Loc-R-Bar, Culprit, Hag's Tornado Baits, Dobyn's Rods, Koppers LIVETARGET, Reel Rod Cover, & Duncan Bags). Just be patient and pleasant!
  14. I fished the BFL last year and that is when there was a break-in and about 10-15 boats got hit. It was a professional job as they knew the boats to hit and what to look for. As a co-angler I arrived in the morning to meet my partner and there were Sheriffs meeting with the guys that got hit. I have stayed there a number of times as my club fishes there every year and have not had a problem myself but I refuse to leave any of my rods on the boat after seeing what had happened. They aren't looking for lures, they want high end rods and electronics...that is the stuff they can sell. They tore covers, popped locks, etc. Camp Mack is a great facility (although their ramps and parking kinda suck for the amount of money they bring in...pave the road already!). Liars Lodge is a great place and it is geared for the bass fisherman but leave your gear on your boat at your own risk!
  15. It was a tough day of fishing for our club on Saturday. 27 boats launched and only 24 fish were caught. 13 boats caught fish and 14 zeroed. No limits! The winning weight was just over 10 pounds as one team caught 4 bass (one being a 6lb kicker). They were dragging Carolina Rigs on the south end in deep holes. My team caught 2 little ones on worms in the Boggy Creek canal in the deep holes. It seemed like finding deep water was key and fishing SLOW!!! Wish I had more to report. If the weather warms I would expect the bite to pick up though.
  16. Thanks a bunch guys. Willzx, that is valuable info to me. I had been told by one other person to check Runnymead so I will probably practice there Friday to check it out. At least it gives me a starting point. I appreciate the help and will let you guys know how it goes on Sunday/Monday when I get back!
  17. Have not prefished at all and haven't been there since 2007. I am going to try to get out on Friday if the weather is fishable to see what I can find. Doesn't seem to be much info on this lake unfortunately.
  18. Thanks George, sounds like it might be a rough weekend for our club tournament!
  19. Our first meeting of the year is tomorrow. Please see website for further information. First tournament this coming Saturday Jan. 9th on East Lake Toho!
  20. Havent seen any feedback on this post and was hopeful someone may be able to give me some ideas. Going to be fishing East Lake this coming Friday/Saturday Jan 8th-9th. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  21. Have a tournament coming up on East Lake Toho in a couple of weeks and just wondering if anyone has any news on the lake lately. Are they on the beds yet over there? If anyone has any spots they can share or locations of offshore brushpiles/etc.....it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and happy holidays!
  22. Personally I have used the Z-Man, Strike-King, and Booyah and prefer the z-man. Down here in FL you can crush them with a 3/8oz white Z-man...the trick is the trailer. You have to find something a little different. I use the Zoom Fluke in golden shiner with a white chatterbait and they tear the d**n thing up!
  23. Also try the Bay Area Bassmasters. I got my start there out of a Tracker and did just fine....good group of guys and fun club to be a part of. Also a Federation Nation club. www.bayareabassmasters.com
  24. Looking for any assistance on how to better attract sponsors for my local bass club. We are a BASS Federation Nation club (Bay Area Bassmasters) out of Tampa, FL and I am just curious if there is any particular do's and don'ts to gaining club sponsorships. Thanks in advance
