Re: How did I do?
I'm just returning rods for store credit. I don't believe its be illegal. Whether it is morally or ethically right is debatable. You may not agree with what I plan to do but I do understand and respect your opinion. I only ask not to get flamed.

Re: How did I do?
I really don't think I'm gonna use the rods. I think the plan is to return 2 of the rods to academy. Can get 160 for the reaction and 110 for the spinning. I'm gonna buy like 270 in tackle and line and tackle box etc. The other rod I'm going to return to BPS and then sell the gift card. After tax it'll be like 170 in credit. My gf's mom is gonna probably buy the gift card since she was planning to buy some bedding from there so if I sell it to her for $150 basically I end up spending $55 for $270 in tackle. :)

Do you own many casting reels under $100.00, how do like 'em?
I bought the Quantum Lone Star baitcasting combo from Academy. Bought it for $40 (normally sells for $50). I love it. It's not as smooth as my buddies Daiwa but it gets the job done just fine for me. I've caught a few 5 pounders on it and it handled well. MH rod 6'6" 2 barrings. I have it spooled with some cheap 12lb line and backlashes are pretty minimal and most of the time my fault.

Baitcasting spool spacer to save line
You might try some masking tape wrapped around the spool evenly. Its light enough it shouldn't effect castability too much.

Fish seminar question
How much weight do you lend the lures, jigs, worms, etc they showcase at these events? While it is nice to see the action of the baits I can't help but notice the variables. For example the water in the tanks is crystal clear. My guess is that water the fish are only using their sense of sight when choosing to attack the bait. I only assume that most of us fish in water that is no where close to those conditions. What about the use of their sense of hearing? Lateral lines? The only pluses I can see to these situations is to show how long fish hold onto the bait which is a large factor in actually hooking a fish, and how to fish a certain bait. I'm interested in hearing what you guys think and your opinions on this subject.

Little help please!
Thanks for the input guys. I'm working on trading my quad for a bass boat right now and if I do it'll open up the possibility of a learning curve boost. I'll look into the baits recommended. Seems like I've been on the right track. I'm gonna keep looking up info on rigs and technique and stuff. Never can learn too much.

Little help please!
I'm not new to fishing but recently have gotten a little more hooked on it. Just wondering as far as lures and stuff go what I should stock up on. I mostly use plastics for now but I've been stocking up on cranks, rattletraps, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits. The real goal is to eventually start taking a crack at some tournaments with a few buddies I know that have boats. They are my resident rod and reel experts and fish tourneys regularly so no advice is needed there but as far as what to stock or a general idea on lures and baits would be appreciated. I fish in NE OK if that may have any influence on things and I know no two answers will be alike but just wanting to get a good feel for the direction I should head so I don't go out and buy $500 worth of stuff I'll never use.

NE OK fishing info needed
Was fishing Keystone dam a while back when they were running water. Also have hit a few reservoirs, Gibson, Oolagah, and a few ponds and stuff. Just wondering where here has been some good action. Preferably black bass but if there are any decent sandie or crappie spots. Will be fishing from the bank. Gibson has shown some promising bass. Two days ago I pulled about a 4.5lber out of there and my buddie caught a 4.5er and a almost a 6lber. We were fishing at Taylor's ferry by the marina and docks. Most of the other fish were in the 2.5 and under range. Any hints or tips appreciated. I'm in Tulsa and would prefer not to drive over an hour and a half.
