You could do the MH or the H. I would compare the 7' MH to a Loomis 844. It would work well for you...it's powerful. The heavy is a powerful stick, and I use mine for everything from 3/8oz to 1oz baits. I like a stout rod for jigs and c-rigs. I just worry that some will order the Heavy and be surprised as to how much of a broomstick it is.

Are you speaking of the '09 Quantum? If so, I like that quantum scaled back on the line capacity; that will improve casting ability (plus...who needs 150yds of line?). That is about all I can add

I think Gary Loomis defeated the correlation of these to terms years ago with the IMX blank. I believe it mostly relies in the resin, and why Gary was able to use such a high modulous/strain blank.

Your own experiences count the most; internet reviews and responses are good to a degree if it is an item you are unfamiliar with. Everyone in America likes ranch and mustard but I hate them....no matter what others experiences are. That said, it is natural to defend your brand. If you like something...it represents an opinion of yours. Somebody says something bad about a product you like; people take it as an insult....it's insulting a decision you made. I want to tell people not to care what others think, but that would be hypocritical of me. All I can tell you is to keep rockin' the Quantums if they have treated you well, but you won't win on message board threads about reels. I'd just stay away from them. I went to the University of Oklahoma, and any threads pertaining to their football team I just avoid right now. I'll just get ticked and endlessly defend my team.

St. Croix is working the perfect angle. The SC2 blank is now available in two styles; a very traditional rod and a very contemporary rod. I wish Loomis would do the same with the IMX and GLX. They can keep the traditional rod in the lineup, but offer something contemporary as well.

What lb CXX are you using? I use Trilene 100% 12 lb as well, but have a special place in my heart for CXX. I use 10lb mainly, but have gone to 8lb with confidence. The Trilene 100% is great, and definitely has the most abrasion resistance of any fluoro I've tried, but CXX is....CXX .

Umm....both? I wouldn't try throwing 1/8oz sliders with your Citica.

I used mainly 12lb Trilene 100% this year because I had it to spare (several bulk spools). I'm not sure I could recommend fluoro over my clear cxx for cranking if I were buying filler spools. You have to decide whether you want a little more depth, or a little more abrasion resistance.

I hope no one thinks I'm bashing because I think they all come from the same place; I went to school for marketing and it just fascinates me. I would say Korea has a better record/reputation than China, and some of my favorite fishing products come from China (Daiwa Zillion Rods/Quantum PT Superlites)...so I'm not just saying that. This should probably make the Pflueger guys angry, because generally a Revo is seen as a higher end reel than a Pflueger. Why? Marketing!

I must be asleep....are these the two 'totally different reels stripped down'? It just didn't click the first time I read your post. I feel stupid for having to 'research' why the parts would fit. I'm slacking....I didn't know Pure Fishing owned Abu and Revo. Do the old round Abu's still come from Sweden?

The differences between the Revo line and the Patriarch, besides minor ergonomics, are in the spool and palm plate side. Put aside the fact that the Pflueger reels come in narrow spool and wide spools, the Revo spool is marginally taller than the Pflueger. I was equally interested if I could swap the Pflueger centrifugal brake mech with the Revo S. You can't. The patriarchs would fit onto the Revo spool shaft but the brakes themselves didn't reach out far enough, when fully extended, to make contact with the outer spool ring mounted on the palm plate. Shame. I wouldn't expect all the parts to be interchangeable, but being able to swap gears and such speak quite a bit.

Oh...just saw that Plueger and Abu are both pure fishing brands, and both made in Korea. I'd bet a paycheck they come off the same assembly line.

Hmmm....I figured Pfluegur, BPS, and some Browning reel's parts may be interchangeable, but Revo and Pfluegur?

I'd say E7; I owned two Fuego's and wasn't impressed with their casting ability. Granted, I prefer and am more accustomed to reels that hold 100-110yds of 12lb versus 150yds.

Your thoughts on clear do pertain to most lines, but CXX, and couple of other coated and sealed lines are very Transparent.

Of course, Catt :.....I use a 7' rod for all plastics fishing except skipping. I was merely stating where using a short rod for wormin' originated. I guess I need to start adding the 'whatever you are confident with/comfortable with' disclaimer that I thought was a given. *and Correction... Nixon used a 5'6" pistol grip, but I'm not sure if that holds true today.

The king of worm fishing prefers a 6'er...(Larry Nixon). He used a pistol grip if I remember correctly.

Their website has been the same since '04 or earlier. Their rods have changed though....they made their name on shikari SHX blanks, and now they are made on bastson blanks. Regardless....the rods are quality and I wouldn't hesitate to order one. I'm glad someone ordered one like I would....I honestl can't see why with today's market you wouldn't offer something like that as a staple. A rod like that gets people fired up.....

Just an FYI, but any product that is made or assembled overseas must be labeled with the country of origin or it will not make it through customs. Clothes....it's on the tag. Rods....generally a sticker. Also, I want to buy american, but I also want the best product possible. I don't feel the fishing market is being taken over by overseas products. We are seeing a spike in rods and reels made overseas, but there are a bunch still made here.

That's a rare rod. I remember seeing those at Okiebug (tackle store in OK) back in the late 80's. I couldn't believe people would pay $100+ ($150 maybe?) for a rod. I had fished for several years at that point, but, didn't know anything about Loomis. The young anglers today don't realize how much harder it was to gain knowledge before the internet. I fished a club tournament on Table Rock when I was 16, and a guy in our club was doing well with a Yamamoto Hula grub. A Yamawhat? I hadn't heard of that brand. My uncle described them as high-end plastics that were expensive. Those were the days.....

It makes zero difference to me. I work hard for my money, and buy the best product regardless of origin. The rest of the nation finally realized this as well, and the 'big 3' automakers were doomed.

Low rent or high rent, your livin' just the same. That is what makes the fishing hobby so great. In any other hobby I've been in, the more money you have the better you are. Not so in fishing....

I'd get the M XF. The Zillions are a little underrated, and the M XF seems to have comparable power to a 3 power loomis.
