Dobyns Champion extreme rods
Thanks for the info Scott. IMO the Expride Medium Heavy is closer to a Heavy Action in most rods. So the Heavy Action champion extreme sounds more like a Medium Heavy+

Dobyns Champion extreme rods
I'm not familiar with Dobyns rods. I mostly use loomis, exprides and megabass rods. From what I've read the dobyns power ratings on there rods are very under rated? I'm just trying to get an idea of the actions before I order one. I'm looking at a dobyns champion extreme 704 heavy and the 705 mag heavy. A mag heavy with a rating up to 1 1/2oz sounds like alot more rod then what im looking for but I heard it closer to a medium heavy and cant handle over an ounce. Is the 704 heavy similar to say a Medium Heavy expride? or a loomis e6x mag bass medium heavy?

How about them Megabass rods?
Smallmouth gear, Super Destroyer p5

How about them Megabass rods?
- How about them Megabass rods?
I'll throw my 2 cents in here. Ive owned most high end rods from loomis nrx, conquests, posion adrenas, exprides, tatula elite ags. Last year I bought a Super Destroyer P5 and the entire line up is absolutely my favorite rods of all time. They are truly a work of art. I now also own the Madbull and X-bites. The sensitivity is right on par with my NRX. Each rod is just perfectly made, from the wraps to the carbon grip, its so crisp and clean. They are literally the only rods I want to fish with now. Theres a video on YouTube from the Hook Up Tackle where he goes over a bunch of the p5 rods and what the best techniques are for them. I absolutely love my X-bites for 1/4- 1/2 jigs but the SD and Madbull are the best reaction bait rods ever made in my opinion. I use the Super Destroyer the most which is good for many applications. I caught thousands of smallmouth on it last season up to 7 pounds and also caught a 48" Muskie on it from a small river where I had to move the fish away from heavy cover, rod was completely bent in half but handled em like a dream. ?♂️- Color handle on a Steez A
Just seeing what your guys opinion is on handle color for the Steez A. I know it doesnt really matter but just curious for fun. What color do you like best? Black, red or gold?- Metanium 2020 and the Steez A
I got both these reels coming in the Mail. What reel do you prefer? I've been a Shimano fan boy much of my life but bought a Steez SV TW and its amazing reel although I thought the SV was a little brake heavy. Im excited to try the Aluminum version.. The longevity factor on my Steez has been turning me to the dark side ha 3 seasons of heavy use and it still feels like new, cant say the same for my Shimanos after one season of heavy use, they feel geary or I have to replace a pinion gear or bearing. Hoping the 2020 version will hold up longer. For those who own these reels or have, if you had to choose one, which would it be and why?- Cork Knobs?
I'm buying a new reel handle on my swimbait set up. Ive never used Cork knobs before but I like the weight savings and im a huge fan of cork.rod handles. My Question is what are the pros.and cons over cork/rubber. Are these cork knobs going to flake and pit like cork rod handles. Also can they handle the torque of swimbaits over time. I use cork seal on my.rods but don't know if id like that on my handle as they tend to make it a little more slick.- Jig Fishing Smallmouth
Thanks for the great replies guys, ill def be trying some of those finesse jigs l. ive been throwing tube jigs for many years and my fish are above normal for size, im chasing hogs. ?- Jig Fishing Smallmouth
Jig fishing isn't one of my specialities and I'm looking at getting into it. I fish mostly shallow clear rivers with slow to moderate current. Whats your favorite jig/trailers for these conditions? Swim Jig? Football Jig? finesse jig? there's alot that goes into it and just hoping to skip some of the learning curve and not spend a bunch of $$ finding the best jigs. Thanks for an advice.- Fixed Broken Rod question
Its one of my fav rods that a someone is selling. I would like even a slightly heavier action but im just scared its going to be crazy stiff now like a pool cue.- Fixed Broken Rod question
If I get a 6' 6" MH rod with the small top section of the rod broken off and get it fixed, it will be right around 6ft. Its a Fast Action Rod, Is this going to alter the action quite a bit? Since alot of the bend would come towards the top section of the rod, I would assume this would make it a much heavier action?- whopper plopper 90 hooks
I know theres an old thread on this with a few responses. Im picking up some gamakastu ewg short shank hooks and am wondering what size to put on the front. size 4 or 6? I heard some people use size 4 and others use size 6. what size hook is closest to size as the stock hook? I would like the exact size as the stock hook. im pretty sure the stock hook is a 4 but a size 4 for one company isnt always the same as a size 4 from another. thanks- Favorite SwimBait Combo?
Im looking at getting a new rod/ reel for smaller swimbaits in the 1 to 3 oz range. Just wondering what your guy's favs are. Im looking at a tranx 200 and possibly an expride A 7 3 xtra heavy?- Winn Grip Reel Sleeves
Has anybody tried Winn Grip Handle Sleeves? How did you like them? I was thinking about sliding em on my Steev SV since the knobs are so small but thinking it might not be a good idea putting these on such a nice reel.- What reel (70 or MGX) w St croix jerkbait rod?
Huge fan of the curado 70 even more so then the curado K for jerkbaits but if you can get a MGX for 220$ id rather have the mgx. The mgx will work great for jerkbaits but i dont think its even close to worth 370 or even 300 for that matter theres alot of other reels much better in that price range in my opinion but for 220 its worth it and a nice reel.- Waiting on a backordered Shimano Expride
I have two exprides def some of my favorite rods and in my opinion the best rod in that price point. You can cancel your order from TW, that is a long wait but they are some great rods. Just make sure once they become in stock you email or call them and make sure theyve shipped your rod. As much as I love tackle warehouse ive had issues with them and back ordered items most recently some berkley choppos. They forgot to ship my item and they became out of stock again then once they were back in stock the second time I had to call em to get em shipped.- Metanium MGL/ Steez SV TW
I have 3 metanium mgls and love them but ive been a shimano guy my entire life and want to try something different. Always wanted to try a Steez. No such thing as too fast of a gear ratio for moving baits in my opinion. Thanks for the responses.- Metanium MGL/ Steez SV TW
What reel would you guys rather have for moving baits in the 1/2oz range. Metanium MGL XG or the 8.1 Steez SV with the longer handle. Note: fishing skinny water where accuracy not distance is key. Thanks- Tube Jig Question
Anybody have a trick for a tube jig head blowing through the head of a tube? I only get about 5 fish per tube because the jig head rips through the top of the tube. I tried a number of different tubes maybe there's a brand with a thicker rubber head?- Shimano Casitas Thoughts? Opinions?
I own Metaniums, steez, Aldebarans and all the curados and a couple months ago I bought a Casitas because it was so cheap and needed an extra reel for guiding clients. I found the reel new for 85$ and was seriously impressed, I mean 85$ really? Its light, compact, palms great and is a workhorse. Most people I guide arent great with baitcasters but havent been having any problems with this reel. I put the reel on a Croix Bass X and its gotta be one of the best combos under 200$ in my opinion. Someone on a budget who needs a reliable combo or someone who wants to own alot of combo's, I highly recommend this reel.- G Loomis Conquest Casting Rods
Im looking at purchasing one of these rods. The problem is there is nowhere that carries them where I can see them in person. My concern is the action, I own several different MBR rods from loomis. Im wondering if someone can tell me if these have the same lighter action/tapers as the old loomis MBR rods such as the classic GLX, GL3 or are they more like the newer MBR rods such as the IMX/e6x that have a more stiff action. I fish skinny water and am looking at the 783C MBR.- Trolling Motor Transducer Mount
I just bought a Lowrance Elite 5 Chirp and am looking for the best strongest clamping bracket that will fit my 83/200kHz DualBeam transducer. Im using this on rocky river so durability is def an issue. There's alot of trolling motor brackets out there and its hard to figure out if they will fit or not. Lowrance makes one but I heard its very weak and breaks easily.- Power Pole Micro?
Im thinking about putting one of these on my 16ft Royalex canoe and just wondering if anyone has used one and what your thoughts are? I know they cost alot but if they work well in rivers thats not an issue to me. Im not going to be dropping this down in class 2 rapids or anything but just curious on how fast of current can i drop this down in. Also mounting options? They make a few different options most are for kayaks and small boats. I would like to have it mounted straight out the back of the canoe and i already have a side tmotor mount so the clamp mount is not an option. I do have decent size gun rails though 1 1/2" wide 1" thick . Probably going to have to do some type of custom mount.- Power Pro Superslick
Also im wondering does powerpro super slick float or slow sink? - How about them Megabass rods?
