  1. There was a striper tourney that weekend also, it must have come out of aitch. A good friend took 3 in it.
  2. you can PM if you like. I will try my best to help, as on this lake in particular, I am still learning every time out!! lol
  3. Haven't caught the number like last summer but quality has def. improved. 2-3lb is the usual until today.
  4. What a morning! Got the wife up at 3am we were on the road at 3:30 and hit James Creek at 5am. Big striper tourney so I got the hell out of dodge and went to Tatman to launch. Never looked but sometime between 6 and 8 rained so friggin hard that I had probably 30 gallons or more of water in the bilge. Found that out when I tried to go to another place, gunned the throttle and the bow went skyward lol. All in all not a horrible day, but we got skunked! First time since I have started going there last year. Saw one bass and I got him to come up and take a look by waking a spinnerbait. Threw everything I could think of. We tried deep, shallow, dropoffs, submerged timber, weedlines nothing. Loaded back up at close to 1pm. This has to be this ding dang weather we have been having. I think the raystown branch has gone up and down 2-3 feet over the last couple weeks. Better luck next time!!! I really think if the weather would stabilize it will get better.
  5. Finding fish where others don't look. Topwater and crankbaits.
  6. 1. Keystone Allstars 2. Dropkick Murphys 3. Flogging Molly 4. Anvil - yes I have heard of them and liked them alot in the 80s. 5. Slayer
  7. That is really cool about the the eagle because I saw one also around the james creek area. Flew right over me!!.
  8. I would guess a little more than an hour to get to closest ramp. We had a ton of rain last week and the river that feeds the lake (raystown branch of juniata) went up approx. 4 feet in a couple hours. Normally a very clear lake.
  9. Took a mental health day and went fishing. I only caught two and both were on something I have never done much of....jig and pig. I figured nothing else worked and stayed with something until I either learned it and made it work or I just got PO'd. Anyway caught two and I have a pic of one because I also haven't read the owners manual completely for my wife and I's camera. Water surface temp was 64 in the morning and almost 70 in the afternoon. Black and blue jig with a brown and pumpkin seed craw trailer. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/hopefullbencher/100_0787.jpg
  10. This is my biggest of the weekend. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/hopefullbencher/100_0775_00.jpg
  11. Not a great day, but rewarding. This was only the second time I have fished this lake and the bass were still on the beds. I did catch a hell of a surprise though. I caught my first topwater fish of the year!! This smallmouth smashed a spook. Only fish of the day that was worth mentioning. Fished for about 5 hours. Water temp. 75 deg. F. Mods, I just realized that this is posted in the wrong sub section. sorry for that "http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/hopefullbencher/100_0775_00.jpg" border="0" alt="smallmouth from blue marsh 5-23-2009"></a>
  12. I have done well with spooks and cranks. Bluegill pattern cranks work for me. I have caught a few up there and as I went to grab 'em, a 'gill would be spit up. I can be tough. PM me and let me know where you are heading to on the lake and I can try to point you in a direction. DEEP water is the norm 20+ in most of the bays.
  13. Tungsten isn't poured. It is sintered powder, metal powder pressed under heat into whatever shape that is needed.
  14. I was there fishing two weeks ago and the water was warmer than I had thought it was going to be (60s). The couple that I caught came off of points with bluegill pattern DT16 and DT20. I hope to hit there again around last week of may first week of june.
  15. The wife and I went out to this lake for the first time on Sat. and all I caught was a very agressive 8 white crappie that slammed a 1/2oz. spinnerbait. I did enjoy seeing all of the large (to me) bass on beds in the coves. I am gonna wait and come back in a month or so. Otherwise it is a very nice lake much much shallower than Raystown lake that I usually fish. Not many boats and most of the nicer water from what I saw is "no wake". Mike
  16. Anyone been out there and could tell me what temps you saw? I am headed there tomorrow to fish for anything that will strike, lol. Would be great to get a heads up. Thank you
  17. Thanks everyone. I have to thank mobydick on here for the tips in that area.
  18. Caught three bronzebacks and 1 foul hooked carp today. Was only there for 2.5 hours. Here are some pics. Two bass nailed a silver and black shad rap and the third one (with fingers in pic) took a black 3in. gitzit. Awesome day.
  19. Yes it is. That one came from dead in between the middle two abutments. The second one came from rigt below the bridge in the small scour hole. All in all a nice day as I had never fished there before. My father in law and I set out to find Muskrat springs and ended up there lol.
  20. Hey guys and gals, This is a pic of the biggest of two fish I caught today in the juniata. Both slammed a baby bass rattin rap. Water temp was almost 50 deg. F. Second fish was only like 13 inches but fought like hell.
  21. Newton Hamilton. And yes I actually caught her about 20 feet downstream from the ramp lol. Followed and nipped at the tube all the way to the boat. I am heading out again tomorrow prob put in above the blind camp and float down to it.
  22. Pic added
  23. Went out with a buddy and i caught one smally that was 20 1/2 inches!!! only fish of the day but def. worth it. Took a black 3inch gitzit 3/16oz. Finally resized pic of fish.
  24. I went out on the lake today, didn' t get even a second glance as far as I could tell. I didn't expect to catch anything just wanted to check the boat, motor and get into casting again. Slow rolled spinnerbaits today and worked a 3/16 and 1/4 oz. gitzit. Water temp at surface was only 39.4 F over at trough creek cove. It was still great getting out. Mike
