  1. 1956 14 ft. alum. Orlando Clipper Semi-V, Decked front and back earily 90's 15hp evinrude 34lb. Minn Kota tm
  2. I just got some too! They worked great for me. I used a 5/0 weighted screw in hook, a basic swim bait hook. 4 fish on 4 consecutive casts! I think they are a great search bait. Are the baits online at 70% off? I got mine at boater's world for 50% off.
  3. Wal-mart is by far the cheapest (~40 or so per tire), and you could check and see if the tire the next size up will fit on your hubs and tailer, that could save your bearings on long trips or at high speeds. Wish that I would have checked before I replaced my wheel/tires with the smaller ones again.
  4. Oooo, I can't wait to see what you guys have to say about these things! TV gimic?

I used the watermelon gold this weekend and had pretty good luck with it, however what kind of hook were you using with it...I used a weighted EWG and I think I'm going to but some weighted hooks with a corkscrew at the top. They seemed a little fragle and at 1.50+ a pop I dont want them destroyed after 1 fish!
  8. wow that has some really good action! Put on some extra epoxy for those toothy critters! How much does that thing weight in at? Looks like you are an old hand at this...great job!
  9. Fishing the flats in the mosquito lagoon can be tricky...that's why you see the serious flats fishermen with a 14-16 foot skiff/flats boat with a 30-50 horse and jackplate (sometimes with flotation boxes in the back also). That being said I have been able to get on plane with my 14 foot alum with a 15 hp in about 12 to 18 inches depending on who's in the boat. To get up in that little water I have to find a sandy spot that is about 25-50 feet long then i'm free, the weeds will really hang me up and I dont like tearing up the bottom there (it is frowned upon)! Sorry this is a little off topic because its not a big boat but the guys who are serious about fishing shallow water run smaller boats! Thats just my opinion of course but you can always look at Mark Menendez with the small alum.

  11. If you plan on staying in Florida you may want to consider buying him a lifetime fishing (hunting too ) license they are a lot cheaper when you are young. I really wish my father would have gotten me one! Anyways great to see him out there tearin um up!

  14. x2 on redfish and add snook to the list. That is kinda a funny story...ran out of all our salt water flukes and all I had left was senkos! OOPS! Figured from now on that I only need senkos...lol/jk! Next time I go bottom fishing I will take some out with me and see about some grouper and snapper!!
  15. http://www.2ndlight.com/fusetalk/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=7&threadid=88677&enterthread=y Here is how a guy built decks into a gheenoe, its a good write up and goes into how it was done, materials used and that sort of thing.
  16. Congrats on the boat!! Get a lock for that motor ASAP!! It would be horrible to see that go!! Good luck with the rebuild!
  17. can you post a link to one of these...they sound interesting!
  18. As far as the live wells go I think all you need is a piece of pvc pipe to place into the drain that will maintain the water level in the live well and when your done fishing you take the pvc out and it drains. Just what it looks like to me, best of luck with it! and congrats on the new boat its looking great!
  19. Great idea about making two at one time!!! Note to self
  20. When we redid the transom on my boat we sealed the top with fiberglass and resin, it seems to be holding up quite well 8 years later. Im sure if you put a couple coats of waterproofer on it would work also but you may have to reapply. Everything else sounds right on, good luck and let us know how it turns out.
  21. i tend to agree with this, carb adjustment don't move by themselves......i use marine stable all the time and so far so good.....my 2 cents thats all I would also agree, its called the pilot jet. There are two jets the main and the pilot. The pilot is the smaller of the two. Is the motor a lawn mower style engine, ie. air cooled 4 stroke? If it is all you would have to do is remove the bowl off the bottom of the carb and use a flat head screw driver to remove the jets then soak them in carb cleaner for 10-20 min and blow them out with compressed air. (if they are fully clogged you may need a small wire to clear the passage) If you posted a picture of the engine and the carb I may be able to give you more specific directions. feel free to PM if you think it would help. Good luck the first carb you take apart is a learning experience, but don't be discouraged they are pretty simple all in all!
  22. To begin with it would be great to know the length and width of your boat. It is also hard to add stability to a boat that is already narrow...say a 36 in bottom width. 1. if it is a 36, I would build a deck on the bottom of the boat 2. you could add outriggers but I wouldnt (dont like the look of it) 3. if it is wider than 40 you could probably put the deck on the benches like I did http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1229910087/10#10 Best of luck and feel free to ask any questions, this is a great resource!
