  1. Did alright today in 6 mile , I guess. Caught about 10 on wacky rigged senkon, I think the color is called christmas tree. Fished the hay grass. lost a 3 pounder full off eggs trying to pull her in the boat and caught a 2 that had already spawned out and the rest were dinks.
  2. How are yall, been a while since I posted due to working in the oilfield and not having a schedule.Matter of fact I have not bass fished since last spring except down on the coast for redfish. Just got to Jasper this evening and was wondering if anyone could tell me how the spawn is going, from Housen south on the Texas side. I am not asking for spots but in general what fases we are in from Housen south for bass and crappie. My intentions are to bass fish but I may try catching a few crappie too. Thanks to all that post here, especially Catt.
  3. WOW!!! I just spent the last 3-4 days on and off re-reading this whole thread with Acme mapper at the top of the screen and the Navionics web app at the top and my Hook and Line map on the floor. So basically I could bounce back and forth to different spots as everyone was talking about them. I would highly recommend anyone who has not done this to do so because this thread has gone on for so long you go through all the seasons. I really want to say thank you to Catt and the other guys on here that are constantly reporting. Sorry I did not get back to ya'll on my last 2 days at the Bend but my report was horrible anyway.I think after reading it again it has given me a fresh perspective on how to approach some of the areas I was already in. I want to get back up there very soon but I work in the oilfield on land doing well testing/flow back for Cameron and my division has been very slow so I need to get back to work, so Im hoping any day I get a call to go on a job. I have been off for a month getting my salary check and its starting to hurt just a little. Also there is a ton of videos on You tube about the Bend that I have been watching and on the home page here there is a video about some new crawfish bait that is out that looks awesome! Thanks again, Scott
  4. I used to work around there in the oilfield. I would go to some of the parks around the lake before work or on days off and catch some small, small mouth on watermelon red Zoom trick worms fished weightless. I am not an expert at that lake at all but always carry a rod in the truck. It is a very clear lake. there are several guides for that lake, maybe they could give you some info.
  5. Today I fished the east side point at the entrance to Hurricane to the little creek to the east of there caught 2 very small on on a christmas tree senko and a very small one on a gold black back orange belly rouge. Went into what I think is the biggest creek in Indian mounds and caught 1 about 15" on gold trap. Left there and fished the first creek south of Indian mounds and caught 1 about 14" on senko. Fished the south shore just down from Fin and Feather and caught 1 about 14" on carolina rigged watermelon red lizard. Not a very good day. Dont know if because there wasnt any wind that maybe it was slow or I was just at bad spots. This is my third time at the lake so its hard to figure out if it was the day or my spots. I was here 4 days last week and went home for 3 days and came back. If any one has some basic info I really would appreciate it. I went to places today I had never been cause Im trying to learn the lake. I dont want to keep going to the same spots just cause I caught fish there last week. Trying to learn. Im staying in Jasper so I could launch in several areas. Think Im gonna try the six mile area tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone, Scott
  6. Ok leaving in the morning and going to fish till the front hits Tuesday, give yall a report when I get back.
  7. Well I fished Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Fished Housen flats and community hole mostly. Tried some other areas and didn't catch anything. We caught 8 Sunday , I fished by myself Monday and didn't catch any, Tuesday by myself caught 9 then a buddy came up and we caught about 10 Wednesday and about 10 Thursday. We actually caught a lot more but we don't count the little 10" fish. Biggest fish was a 7.25. Best bait was Toledo gold trap. All other fish were 1-3 #'s. Very happy with that trip and really love the lake, trying to go back asap.
  8. Hey thanks for the response Minnow. I agree I wish the guy that caught the big fish at Toledo would have let it go. I just got off the phone with a super nice guy that has a camp at six mile that I met at the diner there last time I was there and were going to go tomorrow. I was hoping for better news about the south end, being I can stay for free at the Holiday Inn express in Jasper. Looks like I might be driving from the Holiday Inn Express to six mile every day but its a whole lot better than driving from south Houston to their every day. Thanks again, Scott
  9. Ill post a report when I get back. They just caught a 15.37 at champs this morning on Falcon. Hope im not making a mistake not going there. I just really liked t-bend the one time I went and ill never learn if I go were I always go which is Falcon.
  10. Alright guys I'm sticking with my plan and leaving in the morning to fish Toledo bend. Any info on fishing West prong Indian creek, Buck creek, and Copperas creek would be greatly appreciated, or what page has it already been talked about on. Thanks Catt and everyone that has contributed to this awesome thread, Scott
  11. Dang, I'm planning on fishing Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and maybe Wednesday. I've only been to the lake once and fished in Housen and Hurricane. I was planning on fishing the very south end on the Texas side cause I'm going to stay in Jasper. I thought the fishing was pretty good and I really want to learn the lake cause I like it and wouldn't mind maybe one day putting a camper on the south end. But I know Falcon pretty good and have a few contacts with guides down their that can get me on a pattern. After that one report last weekend on Texas Fishing forum I was thinking it was on at Toledo bend. What do ya'll think? Is the bite decent or is it going to be a struggle for a guy that plans on throwing gold/black back/orange belly,,,red chrome,,, and Toledo gold rattle traps? Any suggestions?
  12. I read that report on TFF the other day. How do ya'll think it will be this weekend after this cold snap and with a full moon? I'm thinking about going to the south end this weekend. I've only fished the lake once and not on the south end.
  13. Catt, thanks for all the great info. Ive only fished Toledo Bend once and love the lake. I am going to try my best to learn it. Due to my work I dont get to fish very often so all of your tips are very helpful for some one like me that might get to go to Toledo Bend maybe 4 times a year and have to fish Conroe the rest of the time being I live south of Houston. Thanks again to Catt and everone else that has made this thread so great. Keep it up!!! Scott
  14. Thanks guys I appreciate it. I have been doing my homework and have a little bit of a game plan still have to get a place to stay so just looking for any tips or extra knowledge you might be able to spare hell throw in some honey holes too!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  15. Well first of all I would like to say hello. I am new to this sight but it seems to be the best bass fishing website I have found yet. This is actually my first post. Me and a friend from work are planning a trip to Fork in March. I have only fished there one time before way up the east fork and never left that area. My buddy has never fished fork. This time I am wanting to stay on the lower end of the lake probally on the west side of the west fork. We are not tournament fisherman we just want to go fishin. I am looking for advice on anything basically. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott
