Want to start fishing tournaments to get to FLW or Bassmaster
I'd suggest fishing some of the co-angler flw tournaments, like the bfl's and stren series. These the pro's are only pros because they have a boat and pay higher entry fees. This might be a good place for you to start.

Hey Wisconsin Folks!
How did everyone's season go in WI? I was able to fish the Madison chain a couple times this year and did pretty good. What's the typical winning tournament weight out there? Do guys venture into Mendota at all for a big smallie in tournaments? Or is that too big of gamble?

What lure type for cold water bass ?
Jig n pork in 3/8 or 1/2oz is the trusty bait that probably catches the most fish in cold water. I will be out tomorrow throwing a jig here in Minnesota. The water temp's are around 49 degrees right now.

River Bank Grass flippin???
I fish the upper St. Croix on the MN/WI border alot and it is very similar to the structure you are talking about. I prefer to flip the grass with 1/4oz texas rigged tubes. I also do well throwing a spinnerbait on the outside edge of the grass.
