  1. It's not that they would "join" BASS, as somone wrote, as much as overtake BASS! I equate this to when they combined the old AFL with the NFL. They wouldn't have survived on their own, each had different rules, player and fans, much like the two fishing circuits. I think it could work. It would take a lot of reorganization, but that's why those execs get the big bucks !!! Good point on the PAA's. They could be the "sleeper" tour and end up being the only survivor!!
  2. The only thing I'd worry about with Johnny Morris taking over BASS would be that he would make it into a BPS tourney trail where you would only get incentives if you used BPS products or run a Nitro. Kind of like FLW with Ranger! Again, still making it hard for anglers to make a living or gain other sponsorships.
  3. 1. Bandit Footloose 2. Bandit 100 3. Bandit 200 4. Bandit 300 5. Bandit 700 Are you sensing a theme here!!
  4. This might have been Kim Stricker---he does the Hook N' Look show and he did do a show on the St.Lawerance last year. It was awesome to see how many fish were on the drop-off they were fishing. If you're not familiar with the show, he is the one that fishes, then scuba dives to see what is truly down there.
  5. When I'm fun fishing and get on a good school of fish----that's when I pull out some new lures or practice a technique I'm too strong at. This is a perfect time to gain confidence in a new lure or technique.
  6. X2---he can win an extra $500,000 in the Forest Wood Cup in a Ranger
  7. With the situation that has come up with BASS---Is now the time to get the talks going to combine FLW and BASS? FLW seems to be more stable as far as their sponsors go. If you combine the financial support of remaining BASS sponsors with FLW, maybe there would be enough money for the fisherman to actually make a living. More importantly the combined circuit may actually be able to survive this and other economic downturns. It might be time for all involved to swallow their pride and combine forces. Another side benefit would be that we would finally have ONE tour with the best fisherman/fisherwomen in it.
  8. KVD is a really nice guy. I met him at a Bassmaster University and a couple times at the Elite at Oneida Lake. Although it was hard to get to him at the tourney because Zona was always up his "you know what!" ;D
  9. Ohh I forgot to add---if those 'sea kittens' hit a jig, spinnerbait, crankbait or plastic worm I'll keep fishin' for 'em.
  10. Why did you have to post this!!!! There are few things that make me more P'd off than PETA. They are ridiculous! With the painting the fur coat thing---1. The animal is already dead!!! 2. They have no regard for the Human Being inside that coat!!! I can't remember the exact year, but they did try to organize a big protest at a Bassmasters Classic. When I saw the pics from their rally---there was about 4 people there!!!
  11. Do you guys do any Centerpin fishing? It's big in the Oswego area, just wondering if it got over to the Rochester area. It makes for an almost dragless drift and the fish go crazy for it.
  12. HELP ME PHILLY FANS!!!! I'm surrounded by BLUE :'( With no receiver threat, we can concentrate on stopping that devastating running game of the GMEN!!! You are right though, it's going to be war!! One plus, either way---the Cowboys are at home watching it on TV;D!!!!!!!
  13. Thanks for supplying the link! I was a little wary of posting it because I had a post removed because I gave the name of the other website. Didn't think to use their link!
  14. Are any of you fellow Eagle fans having an ulcer about Sunday's game already :-/?? It is going to be one 'H-E-double hockey sticks' of a game!! The regular season match-ups are always intense, so this should prove to be quite the chess match. GO BIRDS!!!
  15. I am sooooo jealous! I'll be able to catch one of those---in about 5 months, that is, if we don't get our usual springtime blizzard >!!
  16. I just saw on another site that the Elite Series is now 8 events due to the slumping economy.
  17. They have had this ban in NY for years. It's fantastic!!! You can't smoke inside bars here either---so you can go home after a couple of beers and not smell like an ashtray. I'm not a smoker, but I do feel a little bad for them when it's 20 below zero and they have to go outside---but then again it's their choice!
  18. Bass Dude replied to rboat's topic in Fishing Tackle
I use the EWG for tubes and senkos. Tubes because of the thickness of them and senkos because the EWG adds the perfect amount of weight when using them without any bullet sinker or any other weight.
  19. X2---Site fishing in January to me means that I can look at people fish on TV!!!! :'(
  20. Check out another site---the Medley Opinion in the "dock Talk" section. He wrote an interesting piece on the state of tourney fishing---the costs of lures, boats and where BASS and FLW may have taken the wrong approach at the wrong time.
  21. Has anyone else noticed....After watching reruns of last years Elite Series on ESPN. One of the tournaments where KVD was using the Sexy Shad---they panned down to the rods on his deck and more than one had a Lucky Craft crank on it! I'm positive he is catching them on the Strike King crank, but he doesn't use it exclusively like he leads you to believe.
  22. Keeping the bass may not be the answer. Do you catch or see a lot of stunted panfish(bluegill, sunfish, etc)? It could be these populations are out of control, not the bass population. You may actually have ADD bass to lower the population of the additional species. Although these panfish are a great food source, they reproduce in bigger numbers and the predator fish (the bass) population may be too small to keep the panfish population in check. The panfish use the same habitat as bass and an overpopulation of the panfish can have the same effect as an overpopulation of bass. So you may want to keep the panfish and leave the bass in the pond. As I stated before, this situation doesn't have a fix as easy as taking a few bass out of the pond. Managing a pond is a complex undertaking, especially when the ecosystem seems to already be 'out of whack'.
  23. I would rather use the Pointers, but I use X-Raps more. The reason: I would rather lose my $7 X-Rap to a Pike than my $15 Pointer. I think I mentioned this in another post of mine---I HATE PIKE >!!!
  24. I spend my winter pouring plastics so by the time we have soft water my supply is replenished. Ohhh----and this year, I get to watch my EAGLES in January!!!!! Brian Dawkins for president---you EAGLE fans have to agree!!
  25. Just a thought with the kids (15-17) who are looking for sponsors...with your lack of life experience it would be hard for a company to consider you. Companies will say, "What does a teenager know about business and marketing." A sponsorship is not a training ground, they are looking for immediate returns. If you want to "learn" the businees, go to school or like someone said here, get a job in the business and use those skills to help you get a sponsor. Not to discourage you from going after it, but I think it's extremely hard for a company to accept the fact that a teenager, just out of high school or still in high school could bring them any returns. Why would a 30 year old angler who has been fishing for years buy something that a 16 year old kid says is good. I don't mean to be so blunt about this, but you need to be realistic. You have plenty of time to gain sponsorship---keep fishing and you will be noticed!! The reason people want to buy want KVD is selling---He wins with it!!!
