  1. Paid cash also... Boats are toys I'm so glad at all the people who said they paid cash!! and there was help to the poster.....pay cash for toys if you don't have it then save it you will come out on the other end a whole lot better
  2. SO true. Wife would not have a bass/deck boat cause she didn't think it was fun for the whole family( not all fishing) I have a open bow tri hull... fits the family and also rigged to fish.....catch just has many fish on it then I do my friends bass boat.
  3. I have a motorguide stealth st300. It should have 5 speeds but speeds 1-2 are the same and 3-5 are the same. Anyone have any ideas? I looked at the speed switch and looks ok but dont know what it really should be doing. Got it free and want to see if I can make it run better..it works for me now but being laid off I have more time for this kinda of stuff just not the money to do it lol
  4. Live in Xenia. been fishing casaer creek lake, cowan lake, and spring valley wildlife area... been getting good the last week FUN FUN FUN
  5. Yea I was on casaer creek thursday but didnt catch anything.. I go to West Chester all the time. wife loves IKEA. I love fishing cowan but my boat motor is to big and I dont have a trolling motor.
  6. Very cool. I live in southwestern Ohio .Xenia area. Fishing is starting to pick up. got out on caser creek a couple times and have had luck... Still would be nice to have a small pond to sit at tho. Enjoy and good luck
  7. Yea I checked into it it does show 12.6 volts when it sat over night. I double checked with my meter and with the motor running it is putting out 16v and when I shut it off it shows 13.6v. after a while it drops to 12.6. So all is normal. I was confused cause I never knew the motor had any kind of charging at all. I was always checking it cause of the radio I added and some extra lights. but seems to be keeping it charger itself.
  8. I took the boat out today. I was looking at the voltage input on the fish finder. when the boat is off or even idle it reads 13.4 volts. When I take off to full speed it is reading 16.8 volts. Is this normal or does it have a alternator or something. I can't think of any reason why the volts would go up with the motor running. Anyone know what a boat alternator looks like ;D Going to check next time I get it out but forgot to today after I dropped it off where I park it. Its a 1989 69ho Johnson 3 cyl. outboard. Not 100% of the year but this is what the title says. There is no numbers one it that I can see and the guy who works on it for me said her thought it was another year but oh well.
  9. A radio doesnt use alot of power. Just like in a car you can run it for a couple hours. I have a battery charger/maintainer I put on to keep it charged. I put it on when I get home not all the time just when needed. When I get my trolling motor I will have a second battery cause they use up alot of power. Dont want to be stuck on the lake cause I used the trolling motor to much
  10. Gander mountain and overtons.com is al lthe same. I think its the same store. I haven't been to impressed with Gander mountain stores for boating or fishing. Bass Pro SHops or Cabels is 10 times better
  11. I have fished 3 of them: Cowan Lake IS a nice bass lake. Small lake with good shore fishing. Boating is limited to 10 hp Paint Creek Lake Nice lake but have never shore fished Caesar Creek Lake I'm always on this one cause its 10 mins from the house. I boat fish all the time. Has good shore fishing also. Go by the d**n and fish the shore or on the other side of the d**n on the spill way. This lake gets busy busy in the summer with boats. So fishing is better in morning or evening.
  12. Wiring was easy. Finding routes to run the wire took a few but after we had it planned it all went quick. Cutting the holes for the speakers sucked cause I hate fiberglass. The radio came with a in line fuse but I did replace the fuse with a breaker. Not to fun to be out on the water and cant find a fuse lol I have been looking on craislist found some good trans. mount trolling motors but need a bow mount for this kind of boat.
  13. This year I put the radio and some Rod holders on the boat. It not a deck boat but I have done some great fishing off it. Added a fish finder to.. Still looking for a cheap trolling motor lol like the rest of us lol
