  1. Not too many people have experience with the Orra so you will not get too many recommendations. The Orra SX is just as smooth as all of my revo's and performs very well. Either the Orra or Revo S would be my pick but the citica is up there as well. You cannot go wrong with any of these three.
  2. Lightly weighted wacky hook or light flick shake I use the Buckeye Flick it jig heads.
  3. I use the improved clinch and have not had any problems. I think this knot is very similiar to the san diego jam if i'm not mistaken. Just checked out that 16-20 knot looks like a san diego jam without going through the bottom loop before passing through the top loop. Thats the knot I use when I snell a hook except when I make my wraps I'm going around the hook shank as well....
  4. So I got out this weekend with the 09 Revo Premier I picked up paired with a 7'3" Veritas and what a dream to fish with! I read alot of bad reviews on the 09 but I cannot say anything bad about it. Super light, smooth, and was very easy to get dialed in. I mainly pitched with it and the distance I was getting with a 1/4 ox pegged weight was outstanding. I also put the drag to test on a 25" shoepick and it did not budge... If anyone wants to get rid of their 09 premiers cheap let me know.
  5. I picked up the 1/4 football heads for fishing around docks and wood. I like the longer thin wire 4/0 hook I think this will match up nicely with small craws and creatures as well as finesse worms. Without the barb or screw style keeper you also have the option to fish it with an exposed hook if you wish with a hula grub or single tail standard grub...
  6. Really? That was the first thing I noticed about them. They appear to be very sharp, not sure on how the point holds up though..
  7. Anyone using? I have been using spot removers but thinking I may like the bite me style better. Looks like a good head to use for small creature baits and finesse worms around hard bottoms.

We fish once a month from Jan through Oct with two weekend tournaments per year to make up for the two months we take off. Tournament dates are voting on at our monthly meetings. We fish for points and award plaques for the top three anglers and lunker of the year if over 5 lbs.
  9. Just ordered some Dineros. Cant wait to try them out!
  10. This has nothing to do with Fishing Resumes or tournaments....Oh well a good discussion appears to be done :-?
  11. Wonder why this got moved to fishing resumes???
  12. Actually the only reason im looking for new handles is b/c the previous owner removed one of the paddles for some reason so I figured I would replace with eva paddles but I have had no luck finding any online...
  13. Yeah I'm working towards all revos myself. Although I do have an Orra sx that is absolutley unbeleiveable for the price so its hard not to buy more of those... Using the same series of reel makes sense. I use all Revos, but 3 different models. The Revo S is on my Flip/Punch rods, the STX for pitching and casting rods, and the Premier where I want the lightest and most sensitive set up(jigs and plastics). I took your advice last week and ordered a 7'3" MH Veritas for pitching 1/4oz and up plastics and jigs. I think I will mount that Premier I just purchased on this rod. Should be a sweet set up. I have a revo S on my 7'6" veritas and using it for jigs/punching and carolina rigging. Have an sx on a 7'2" Carrot and use it for lipless cranks and regular cranks. This set up casts a country mile and is so smooth. I want to switch to all Abu rods but I think this will be my only set up that I just cant part with so I will have one orange rod in the bunch. Very good choice, thats the reel I use on that rod as well, I have 2 of that set up. I hae a few more Premiers still in box's waiting for the Verdicts to get here before I decide where I want em. In a matter of 2 weeks I managed to sell all of my rods and most of my reels and have been replacing everything with Abu stuff. I actually consolidated some and will be down to 6 rods on the deck instead of the 10 I use to have. In the past I would have a seperate rod for a buzzbait and spinnerbait now I will use one. I combined my jerkbait top water (pop r style) and went from 3 crankbait rods to 2. Im using the norman speed clips on my spinnerbait and crankbait rod to help with changing lures. So far i'm happy with the extra deck space and Im only missisng my dedicated senko/fluke rod now that will be my next purchase and I also added a spinning set up to fish shaky heads with thats been alot of fun so far. I have less set ups rigged now but feel like I have better organization and utilization now. Kind of off topic I know...
  14. I have alot of experience on the lakes in Northern California. I usually pack the boat depending on where Ill be fishing. Then pack a few "what if" baits and Im good to go. But last year I screwed up. Went to a tournament expecting to power fish and ended up having to buy a drop shot rod. >:(I wont make that mistake again. I was pretty impressed with all of your gear until I got to the COORS LIGHT cans!!!
  15. I was checking out a Z9 in BPS Sunday. Pretty impressive the thing has a ton of room. It seems very wide compared to some other brands and just looks plain sick. For the money they may one of thebest bargains out there.
  16. Your definitly right about that. Kind of makes you wonder what Tiger could do using KING COBRA I need to get out and play some more Golf. This Bass Fishing stuff takes up all my play time but I enjoy it so much more than Golf honestly so it does not bother me too bad.
  17. Does anyone else think it is weird that the #1 Bass Fisherman in the world right nows major sponsors which are Quantum and Nitro Boats are two of the most under rated products out there in there class? I am sure Quantum products are first class but for some reason they just do not interest me...Nitro boats appear to be very nice rigs and if they are good enough for KVD then surely they are good enough for us yet you hear people bash them all the time...Just was thinking about that.

  20. Yes it is an 09. I have some revos as well and I prefer the sx for casting and the s for pitching. As you're probably aware, the 09 is not the same reel as the 2010 version which everyone is raving about. The 09 version had a weaker drag and only one braking system, for example. The drag can be updated, from what I understand, so might be worth looking into for a flipping/pitching reel. Should work fine for you and all, just might need a little work. Yeah i'm aware they made some changes in 2010 but from everything ive read the 09 is still a great reel esp for $105. I beleive its drag is listed @ 12lbs but from what I read its actually closer to 20lbs. I will prob use the reel for pitching so the single mag brake should not be an issue. By the way I'm not sure what drag is in the silvermax reels but I landed an 8# pig this past Fall on one of those and it did not hesitate so i'm sure the premier will do fine.
  21. Oh and I was actually talking about the eva foam handles not the reel grips. Thanks though
  22. Yes it is an 09. I have some revos as well and I prefer the sx for casting and the s for pitching.
  23. Picked one up in mint condition for $105 Are they better for Pitching or casting? Where could I find some aftermarket eva handle grips?
  24. While we are on snaps is anyone using Berkley cross locks? I started using them on moving baits and like them alot..
