Looking For A New Spinning Reel 8Lb Class
Another option is using braid.

Stuff Fishermen Say
I do this every day and really it's a very accurate statement. I did good yesterday and few others did well too, today with the same basic weather conditions and plenty of baitfish around, not a soul had a strike.........no fish were in the area. That doesn't mean the fish weren't 5 miles away.

Stuff Fishermen Say
If he fished saltwater that statement is very true.

Front Drag Or Rear Drag, What Do You Prefer?
Front drag and pretty normal for me to adjust it when I'm fighting certain fish. I know where I like it and I set it differently for different fish and different techniques. After I got comfortable with a lever drag on a conventional reel, I don't think I would go back to a star drag, that drag hasn't been touched in 4 years.

Looking For A New Spinning Reel 8Lb Class
No matter how the line is loaded line twist will still occur due to a number of reasons. Baits that turn over like flukes and spoons, swivels help but own't prevent it. I've had brands that don't seem to twist up nearly as bad, shimano and daiwa. Just the act of cranking line in will twist mono line as the line gets wrapped around the spool, that movement cause line twist, manually closing the bail will not prevent line twist but it's a good practice for other reasons. I think it's a good idea to troll your line out before your outing or last thing you do so it's ready for the next trip.

You calling me old?..............lol

I Would Have Traded Places
Not that I'm complaining that I caught 2 overslot snook this morning, probably about 36" each, maybe 15-18#. First one hit my bucktail and took me into the inlet current, managed to pull it around to the beach side and I was able to get it close to the beach, I then hopped over the railing and pulled it on to the beach. Second one was a lot easier, someone had a pier net. Now I'm looking at guy landing a 20#+ Jack Crevelle and I was in awe, he climbed over several rock jetties to land ( I've done the same thing myself many times).........nothing like catching a big ultimate warrior. I was jealous.......lol, he had the better fish.

Anyone Want To Help The Newbs??? Frogs...
I'd practice with a fluke rigged weedless and no bullet weight. I find it every bit as effective as a frog, easier to work and a much better hook up ratio, and will fit your present set up better.

Is Buying A Spooling Station Worth It?
I think the filling station is a nice way to load your reels and have a bit more organization, I'd considered it. I don't really see the need for all this measuring, once you have done a few reels you should be able to eyeball the amount of backing you want to use. I know many use 50-65# braid on b/c, that stuff isn't that thin, I'd just go straight braid, won't have that much on the reel anyway.

I'd say catch one and give us your report. All I will say is you won't be disappointed.

Why Does Stuff Gotta Be This Way?
I think IMA BASS NINJA is right on the money. The whole of any business is greater than the sum of it's parts. The object of a business is to make as much a profit as they can, if jobs can be done with less hours and less employees, that is exactly what they are going to do. Employees are not always aware of other expenses they create other than their paychecks, workmans comp, healthcare, SS taxes, etc., not too mention sick days, personal days and paid vacation time. The way to control your own destiny is to have your own operation, don't think for a second that's a cakewalk, it's probably harder and with more pressure than working for some one. Once you're there you may find you have to do the same thing to keep your business going, less hours for your labor force. If I were to give 1 tidbit of advice it would be this...........no one person or company is indispensable, we are all replaceable.

Question About Motorcycle Riders
Back in the 60's I had quite a few bikes, and it is a brotherhood thing. Harley's were basically a cult bike, the Sportsters of the 60's were not really that good a bike, slow, heavy and could take forever to kick over with that magneto, the ones of today are vastly improved. My Japanese bikes, especially my Kawi 500 would run circles around my Harley and was way more dependable, but there was always that Harely mystic, no foreign bike could match. My most favorite bike was my Norton Matchless.

New Bps Signature Reel And Rod
I know what I like to use, I will use BPS mail order once in awhile, it's cheaper and easier than driving 40 miles each way, I don't buy a lot of tackle as compared to many other people, my wife doesn't see it that way, lol. If I want a specific rod, I will drive down there as I won't buy a rod on line. Call first to make sure it's in stock and I try and plan a fishing trip down that way.

Braid With Fluoro Leader
I'd have no chance in the world with that Bob Sands knot off shore in a 15-20 mph wind and 5' waves, it's ok if you tie it before you left your home. Just looking at that knot, I think it's way over kill for bass fishing and inshore fish, and it seems way bulkier than an alberto, may be good for offshore bait fishing and trolling. For a good portion of my fishing when I join lines, especially braid, I use a back to back clinch knots and it works real well, uni to uni is good too but I fumble with it. If you are fishing off shore, don't join line, do a complete re spool if you're spool needs line.

Baracuda
That's no joke, people do get bit by barracuda when wading in at the beach, especially those ankle bracelets. There was an incident in Ft Lauderdale where a cuda jumped into a boat and attacked a woman, thought her jewelry was the enticement. Catching one of these bad boys is one of the best rushes I can get fishing. I fish with a number of guys all about my age, from Long Island and New Jersey, all former striper fisheman, the only thing these guys fish for now is cuda, they target nothing else. I was hooked from my first big cuda on a tube.

Guess The Weight...
I don't understand these kinds of threads, if one has a good idea of the size of a fish, what's the need in asking and then disagree with some else's opinion. My opinion.......I'd would have appreciated the fish just as much in outings section titled "hey look what I caught".

Thoughts On Power
It isn't a yes or no answer and is it spinning or casting. If you are fishing heavy slop mh may be the way to go, open water you can fish lighter. I have med rods that are 6-12 line weight and some 8-17, there is a difference. In open water there aren't many bass, walleye, pike I can't land with med 8-17 spinning set up

Guess The Weight...
Put a mark on your rod, I do mine at 20", then you will have a close idea of how big the fish is, or you can measure your shoe and pace it off, I do that too.........I never carry scale.

Bps Carbonlite Spinning Reel Reviews
I had a similar experience as Diggy's friend, returned it and bought a "name brand", not a wind knot since. Just about any of the name brand reels from 60-$100 are going to be just fine. Most 2500 or 2000 reels don't weigh too much to begin with and the rods are pretty light too, find one feels good on your rod and you should be all set.

Just a steady retrieve moderate to fast, you can't reel faster than can swim. The tubes from BPS are probably Striker tubes that do not spin, that's ok they work just as good, a moderate retrieve with a twtich every now and then, really not that important. The tube will be pretty much on top of the water, cudas will come out of nowhere to hit them., it's a pretty awesome strike.

The rig with 6 things like jigs is probably a sabiki rig. Nothing catches live bait like a sabiki, the hooks are tipped with dried shrimp and if there is bait around it works in an instant. I don't know what a queen fish is, I googled it and they look awesome, I'm only familiar with queen trigger fish which are totally different. The 20-30" cuda are prime eating size. I'm sure you catch some on live bait, if so I'd use about 30# wire, you will get a cut offs with a mono leader and a circle hook which have short shanks.

Essentials You Bring When Fishing, Besides The Fishing Equipment
Where am at and the kind of fishing dictates what have. Fishing offshore, everything I need and use is in my tacklebag, snack( being a diabetic it's a must), 1 bottle of water and and a phone if we need seatow, never had to use it. From shore I can't think of anything other than a rod and a few lures.

Is Buying A Spooling Station Worth It?
I don't have one, but I think it's a worthwhile investment, especially for mono lines. At present I just want to get the line onto the spool, I always soak my line in warm water before spooling, then before my initial use I go the inlet(fast moving river or stream would work too) troll my line out and it's perfect.
