Opinions On Mislabeling
This thread is starting to go in many directions away from the original post. In no way do I feel a person taking advantage of a knowingly mis marked item is a truely dishonest person that should be on death row or life without parole for what may think a crime of morality. I think a flogging would suffice.

Alabama Rig?
How much fishing time did it take to catch a triple? Those 3 fish put absolutely no fight at all, either the set up hampered the fishes ability to battle or it was staged and the fish were already tired out. That set up does not interest me a bit, for open water I'd stick with light tackle. It's kind of a variation of an umbrella rig.

Finally Halibut On Spook
Are there seasonal bait runs in the Pacific? Top lures are fun when it's calm, fishing is better when it's rough. I use top lures quite bit in surf up to 4ft, you may not always see the strike, but it's very effective.

You really wouldn't know even if you saw a body in a picture or on tape..........could always be a body double. Only the person that killed him knows for sure.

Moammar Gadhafi Dead
Personally speaking I thought not plastering pics all over the place by the administration was the right thing to do. American troops were directly involved in the entire Bin Laden military mission, I believe that was proper decorum pertinent to the situation. Khadafi ( everyone spells it different) on the other hand was killed by rebel countrymen and the pictures posted originated from them or local medi.a. I can understand them wanting bragging rights, until the next dictator comes along, but I believe civilized countries should hold themselves to higher standards. I really get no extra charge by seeing graphic pictures of someones demise.

Few Choices In 7'6" Mhf Rods?
Tom, IMO it's trial and error.I'll omit the brand names ( neither rod is available in 7'6 anyway), wanted a bit heftier rod for picking up some larger bass from Florida high banked canals, I thought a sw rod would be perfect as I have used one I already owned. Went to Dicks and it was a choice between 2, the salesman talked me into buying rod A, which was on sale at a great price, the rod was marketed as a redfish rod 7'8/17 spinning rod. I used this rod for 2 days(didn't take the cellophane off) casted great but hoisting a 1# fish up was a trauma, not saying a bad rod just not what I wanted. I exchanged for rod B same specs which was cheaper , distance was close if not the same, great backbone, maybe by bass standards not the most sensitive but I requirement I don't demand, been using the rod ever since, I love this rod.

Spinning Reel
There are some very experienced fishermen on this site that only use spinning gear.

All About The Weather
Talking strictly beach, I have a few different set ups I use, but I could easily get away with 1 outfit. The type of fish and the potential size have nothing to do with my choice, no reason you can't handle a 30# fish on the light tackle, beach fishing only requires you to fight the fish since you don't have to boat a fish or pick up over a sea wall. If I were to pick 1 all round set up it would a 7' mh 10/20 1 oz max lure weight spinning rod, with a 4000 series reel, I use 15 or 20# braid. Since the majority of the fish are caught within 50' feet of shore (snook are often caught inches from shore) distance is not required, I like a 7'6 rod but they can be a bit hard to handle if it's real windy. No knock on b/c equipment, but here in Florida I have not seen more than may 6 b/c from the beach in the last few years, must be something to it. The other outfits I use are only to vary my routine, I got them so I use them.......lol. I'm looking to purchase a 12' surf rod and the proper reel to fling out some 4-6 oz baits, believe me I don't need it. I get great distance at present, especially off a slightly elevated jettie, surf rod probably goes 2- 3 times further. I just gotta do something else.

Opinions On Mislabeling
K_Mac, I do believe there is value in discussion, what I don't believe is that some (not all) live up to the high level of integrity they profess. I think the amount of money in question can be a huge motivating factor for some wanting to take advantage of an opportunity. What if one buys a car at an agreed price,at time of delivery the purchaser notices options not ordered and paid for. Do you honestly think the purchaser is going tell the dealer I owe you a few thousand dollars. I submit that the majority would say nothing to the dealer. If some believe that buying a mis marked item is tantamount to theft, then cough up the few grand or tell them to give ya another car. I'd take the deal on the car, dealers mistake I'd take a deal on a stella mis marked as a stradic, store error The customer is not the one that made the mistake, in business you have to live with the mistakes you or your employees make. I certainly don't meet those standards.

1000 Bass For 2011 Season
That's a lot fish !! I probably average 40-45 hours a week of fishing, too bad I didn't spend that much time working...lol I have no idea of how many fish I catch. My biggest fish come from top lures, working canal shore lines, I fish that way for bass almost exclusively, it's also the most fun for me.

Braid And Tape
I always use tape and braid, you can attach the line either way. Line on spool, tape over and crank it up, or tape on spool and tie a knot, then wind it on. Either way I use about 2" and 1/4 to 1/2 " wide is how I cut it, I use masking tape others use electrical which I'm sure works fine too. My preference is no tie, just tape, but when I do tie i use just 2 overhand knots, never a slippage. I never use backing, straight braid, it costs a little more only the first time.

Opinions On Mislabeling
Talking a game about ethics on a forum is lip service, reality is what counts. Wondering if confronted with opportunity would some that profess "ethics" would take advantage or not, no way to prove it so it's really a moot point. As far as the attitude of employees at any retail store, it varies, some very helpful and good at what they do and others not so. That is for the company to deal with, they did the hiring. I've seen the identical attitude at MOM & Pop shops too, even by the owners.

Braid Slips
It's possible, they are fairly formidable fish, but a bass bending your spool is highly unlikely( personally I'd classify it as next to impossible). Even the largest of bass lack the power, strength and stamina to do any damage to your equipment, if the equipment is in good condition to begin with. IMO fishing exclusively for bass and catching the occasional 40" pike, you have nothing to be overly concerned about equipment damage, especially using b/c and mh to heavy rods, you're over powering the fish. The solution is simple to avoid a near impossible situation, tape instead of tie. Worst case scenario is being spooled, which is also a near impossibility catching any LMB, these fish just do not make 100 yd runs. I know some guys are going to say they use a big rod for big baits, I understand that, but the day I use a heavy rod,b/c and 50# line to catch a 10# fish is the day i quit fishing.

Few Choices In 7'6" Mhf Rods?
Tom, are you more or less confused now? IMO the way to buy a rod is in person at a store where you can mount your reel. Power ratings are not standardized, one company's MH may not be another's. I like to check out the backbone of each rod side by side, then make a choice.

Senile summed it up well. The weather( wind, exceptionally important), water, birds, bait will tell you every thing you need to know from shore ( offshore too), still doesn't guarantee a quality. Doesn't make any difference what venue you are fishing, there is always bait, wildlife or lack of it, in that case I move locations.- Retrieving Snagged Lures From Shore.
Nothing is foolproof ! If lose a hook and fluke it isn't worth being concerned about, unless I don't have another hook with me.lol. I use lures and fish from shore the vast majority of time, I seldom lose lures, but it does happen. I use 15# braid with a 20# leader and a loop knot. Snapping the line has saved me countless numbers of lures, tighten up your drag first.- Rate My Combo
Only can comment on the supreme, I use my 30 on a clarus for pond fishing and like that set up. Don't know if it's my favorite but a good all round set up. Soron 40, 15# PP, 7'6 medium redbone. I use this set up for jetties, beach, flats. Handles a good range of lure weights, exceptionally distance and the backbone to handle some fairly hefty fish. I have caught 100's and 100's of snook, tarpon, cuda, jack crevelles and bonita on this set up and lots of LMB too. Quite often I use it in canals to for LMB,- Line!
I do not like any line that stretches, period. Whether I'm fishing freshwater or inshore saltwater it's only braid and spinning gear for me, I fish moving baits 99% of the time, my braid of choice is the one that's on sale........ I have never caught more or bigger fish because I spent twice as much on line, as long as the knots hold and line doesn't break, I don't need it do anything else. - How To Find Fish
