  1. Is the Citica that much better than the Revos. I have a few Revos and like them alot, but for $30 less and even better than them I may have to pick one up. I agree with the Avids I have a couple of them and like them alot, I was just thinking of trying another brand out there. Thanks
  2. Last Year the Symetre was $79.99, and now they raised it by $20. It's a bummer, but if you can spare the extra bucks they are a sweet reel. I have two, and will look for deals for 2 more in the near future.
  3. I have heard nothing but good things about the Citica, and am actually thinking about picking one up myself. I bought my first revo 3 years ago, and now have 5. 1 Revo S, 3 Revo SX, 1 Revo Stx. They are solid built reels, and great drag on 'em. It's up to you. See if they will let you put it on a rod and check out the balance, and the feel. Maybe that will help you decide.
  4. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here. I'm looking to buy two new rods, 1 spinning and one baitcasting, both 7' long with a fast/moderate tip. I might go a little longer with the spinning rod, I'm in the $150-160 range. Here are the rods I like alot. Kistler magnesium Shimano Crucial Shimano Compre - An IM8 rod for $100 bucks St. Croix Avid - Already have a few and like them Carrot Stix - not sure about having an orange rod As for what I'm throwing on the rods Revo SX Shimano Symetre 2500 What do you guys think?
  5. Get the Avid. I use a 7' Avid casting rod MH XF and it kicks some serious buttocks.
  6. I use a G-Loomis Spinnerbait Rod for the lighter spinnerbaits, it is shorter than what you are looking for at 6'3". It's a M XF rod, but works well, and is rated upto a 1/2 oz. I moslty use a 7' MH F Avid though. It's probably my all purpose rod right now. It works great with senkos, jerks, crankers, and handles any size spinnerbait I put on it perfectly. And for $150-$160 I feel it's a great rod. As far as line, I spool most of my reels up with 10-12lb. test, but I keep 1 of my Revos with 17lb. Stren Sensor in my bag for when I'm fishing serious cover. Good Luck
  7. I own 1 S, 3 Sx, and 1 Stx. For the money u can't go wrong w the SX. Personally, I think the drag is better on the STX. I've caught a couple of pike on the STX and the drag seemed to perform great. Though when it came to buying a new reel I chose another SX 2x after that.
  8. All of my baitcasters are AG Revos STX and SX and I really like them. How do the better diawas stack up to them?
  9. I've been looking at buying a Daiwa Viento. Was wondering if the twitching bar lives up to the hype? And does it fish senkos well?
  10. I haven't seen any in the Clevleand area. All I see are the jigs and slurpies.
  11. I was at a hunting/fishing expo, and a guy at a stand was selling items that he made at his tackle shop. I had only been fishing for about a year and didn't know too much. He made his own crankbaits and they were pretty cheap at $2 apiece. I snapped up every color that I thought I would need. Needless to say they were not good. I still keep a couple in my box for when a buddy asks me for a lure, either to ensure I catch more, and I won't care if they lose em'. Now if it isn't a Bandit, rapala, LC, and SPRO I don't touch it. I'm not knocking anyones craft or hobby, and if you know a guy that makes Quality cranks I might give them a try, but I'll be wary.
  12. I have been using War Eagle, Terminator, and Booyah's for about three years now. All of them work well for me with small tweaks, ie larger blades, and maybe upragrading the swivels if they seem subpar to me. My question is, is am I missing out on something here? If I go to a tackle shop and cruise the isles, there are at leat ten different brands. My tackle ADD comes out and I decide to stick with the ones I'm familiar with. What are some of the spinnerbaits that you guys prefer?
  13. My brother in law is in the boat as you and he has a BPS Extreme travel rod, he said he loves it.
  14. I won't say an ugly stik, But I will say an UGLY STIK Lite. I know not everybody can drop a bill-fifty for a quality rod. I keep one in my truck for emrgency fishing and have had no problem with it Also you can get an ALL-STAR select at Dicks for 50-60 bucks, which is owned by shakespeare or the same company. The Shimano Voltaeus is pretty new. It is built to compete with the UGLY STIK, but it is a Shimano so it has a leg up in my book, and the waranty is supposed be better too. They range form 30-60 bucks, and have multiple models for just about every technique. Ditto on the Bionic Blade St. Croix Triumphs run about $60 at most Dicks I've been in, and coupons for there are always floating around so it could get you into the $50 range. Hope this helps.
  15. my.02 I use a 6'8" M XF Avid Spinning rod for dropshot fishing. Are you looking for a spinning or bait casting rod? I like anything about 7 feet long with an extra fast tip on it. I'm a big fan of falcon rods and they make a couple for weightless worms that would do the trick.
  16. The others are kind of right, in having to see what works for you. Here is my .02. I fish spinnerbaits all year Jigs - all year, but in the winter I use lighter non-skirted with minnows crankbaits- I use in spring and summer plastics- I guess all year, but size and colors will change. I use tubes more than anything. Senkos 2nd topwater - I'll use when water is above 65-70 degrees / early morning and night I hope this is of some help to you
  17. I fish out of a kayak, so I prefer a longer rod for smallies I use a 7'6" ML Avid, and a 6'8" MXF Avid both with symetre 2500's 6lb trilene maxx, 10lb. mean green
  18. All of my rods and reels are baitcasters. Here is what I have Rods St. Croix Avid 7" MH Fast G Loomis SBR 752 6'3" EF Spinnerbait model Quantum PT PTC665F 6'6" M Falcon Cara CCB-3-17ML Light Cranker Falcon Lowrider XG LFC-5-17 MH Reels St. Croix Avid AC200 i believe it is a 5:1-1 2 Revo SX's 6:4-1 Revo S 6:4-1 Revo STX 6:4-1 I have 10lb. mean green on most, will this work, or should I mix it up? Any help would be mucho appreciated.
  19. What's up everyone? I have been reading forums here for quite sometime, but was intimmidated somewhat by the intense knowledge being thrown about. I have a newborn at home and am pulling the night shift, finally mustered up the courage to sign up. Been fishing for a couple of years now. Mostly LMB's, SMB's, and tasty Walleye.
