  1. I am the pres. at my university, it is very hard most of our stuff comes from one of 2 things people we know, or people who owe us favors. but try hard and u will get some, I sent out 30 letters ovewr spring break, here is the break down, 20 no's 9 no replys, and one yes. I dont mean to discurage you but this is a fact you must be prepared to here no alot, but if you get one or two and start winning they will role in, we fish with both the freshwater college stuff and we have a team who fishes open salt water tourny, they win alot, and sponsors have started noticing. if you want any info PM me.
  2. Personally I feel it is 80 percent learned and 15 pure natural talent and 5 percent luck. just my thoughts.
  3. I breed cichlids, this is most definately a mayan cichlid. I caught several on crank baits this week.
  4. very few times have i had the actual person come out.... posibly because its not rare to have a gun in the boat in my neck of the woods but commonly peoplelet there dogs out and yell from the house at us. by the way we have a dock and i love it when people fish it, it tells me where the fish are.
  5. it is funny, in FLW College fishing there is no such rule. I think people would swat the water with 12 -15 ft poles with small baits and catch big fish
  6. I personally dont really care about sponsor while i say that, I would like to get some for one very simple reason, cost. any help i get right now owould be fantastic, i drive about 1000 to 2000 miles per month to fish tournaments. so this gets very pricy. iknow I can fish with most any one. I qualified for 5 jrstate championship and have been fishing agianst adults and beating adults from time to time, since I was 14 I know I can fish which is good enough for me. IT JUST A MONEY PROBLEM.
  7. I catch about 5 a week, they fight hard u want a real good fight catch one about 15 pds. thats my biggest.
  8. have not fished it in a while, but this time last year, we were catching them near grass lines in 3-4 feet of water with top water and flukes. If it were me I would fish orange, lochloosa had a fish kill in the winter.
  9. its a little bit of a drive from orlando but there is rodman res.
  10. what ever the fish deside to eat that praticular day
  11. Im close to your age and know exactly what you are saying, first work hard in school, for many places the first question they will ask is what are your grades like, second get to college and fish the college series, and finally, the federation tournaments are a good way to start a fishing "career" i started fishing them this year.
  12. I see where a lot of people come from, I am 19 and have several minor sponsors for my self and my College club, I never had this need when u fished just club tournies, but with things like college tournies, I have to get some other way to pay to travel to all the tournies, it is simply not possible for me to pay out of pocket. Especially on trips where I have to drive over a 1000 miles either way and say several nights.
  13. lets go back to florida I've caught 5 fish over 5pds. in the last month most of your ice is not gone yet
  14. we will do paper tournies when the water gets over like 85 degrees cause when its warm the fish are far more likely to die in the live well.
  15. they definatly work, I I tried it for the first time today and in the middle of the day I caught a 5 and 2 threes along with several little ones, they loved them.
  16. just seeing it nearly made me puke..... can I have one?
  17. dont know about bedding fish, but i talked to a friend who caught 25 bass in six hours last fri. he said he was just making long cast to the deeper grass edges with flukes and trick worms and working it slow. he said most were small but he also said his biggest 5 went about 15 pds, but he did catch one 6pds. that had NOT spawned yet. i might also try a senco. hope this helps.
  18. im the president of Florida Gulf Coast team.
  19. I personally dont like black creek, where i have had luck is fishing areas with multiple kinds of grass together, you could catchem on either the fluke or senco. also the canals especailly the one with the sunken sail boat out side can be very good. look for drop offs and try cranking them, there are some big one drops from like 4 or 5 to 20 feet although if u hang some thing big it is likely a very big catfish. but i would stick to soft plastics around grass and where there is wood and grass. and the water is actually around 62- 65 there I was in both rodman and doctor lake this week.
  20. it not half way but the st. johns river in north east florida is a good challenge and can be alot of fun with some very big fish.
  21. if the water is clear with very big rocks(which mine are) they will literally spawn right in top of a rock.
  22. fall fo sho, october/ nov. they school up on the barsin the st. johns and 3- pd striggers are not rare at all and there fun and fairly easy to catch. if u know the currents
  23. devils horse and a bang-a-lure they work great on fish this time of the year near grass
  24. im president of the FGCU Fishing Club,we are looking for a club to to thing (fish, projects, or whatever else). so if u are a member let me know some details.
  25. I have started a college fishing club, we did fairly well in our first tournament. I am looking for ways people have found to help get sponsorship. I have sent out letters, and know people in the industry but they really have not been able to do too much. any info would be great.
