  1. this weekend while fishing i decided i would try to learn how to walk the dog with the zara spook puppy. Needless to say it didnt go well. I did have one attack on it put evidently the fish missed it because i did not get a hook up. Can anyone please tell me some advice or tips on how to walk the dog. for the life of me i could not get that thing to zig zag all nice across the water. Also what is the best way to use this lure?? horizontally across the bank or out in the open or from the bank to the boat?? Any help would be wonderful
  2. 1. T-Rig/Jig/C-Rig: 7'3'' MH XF - 6 speed or higher 2. Crankbait: 6'9'' 7' M M - 5 speed 3. Jerkbait/Top Water/Spinnerbait: 6'6'' or 6'9'' M F - 6 speed or higher would these setups make sence ... i know like RW said you can use application specific setups or one rod and reel for everything... but just tryin to have setups that make sence. i think these do but just trying to have semi specific setups
  3. Worm/Jig/Spinnerbait: MH XF Crankbait: M M Top Water/Jerkbait: M F well from reading through RW's post i guess this is what ill go with ... seems like it should work and all of them with yo-suri hybrid 12lb since i am not fishing for tournaments i dont mind taking off lures and tying on new ones ... just want the power and actions to match up with the lures pretty good
  4. I am trying to figure out which types of lures can be used on the same rod... here is what i was planning on doing but want to make sure they make since to someone else before me. i would like to have 2 uses out of each setup just because i dont think i need 100 setups since i am only able to really fish on weekends and dont fish tournaments. just for pure enjoyment... jig and worm together 7'3'' mh with 7 speed reel crankbait/jerkbait not sure length but medium with moderate fast action and 5 speed reel top water/spinnerbait heavy or medium heavy moderate fast and 6 speed reel OR........... spinnerbait/jig and worm together 7'3'' mh with 7 speed reel crankbait not sure length but medium with moderate fast action and 5 speed reel top water/jerkbait heavy or medium heavy moderate fast and 6 speed reel I dont want a dedicated spinnerbait rod because i have never caught a fish on a spinnerbait, but want a rod that is decent with them. Any Help?
  5. ok so far here is what ive been suggested jig/worm/spinnerbait - curado e7, revo stx-hs, zillion crank/jerk/top - curado e5, winch, zillion keep the suggestions coming please
  6. one more thing is that on the jig/worm set up i do not even own a jig ove 1/2 and the lightest is a 1/8oz sinnker, hook, and 6 inch worm (whatever that weighs)
  7. haha sorry i shoulda put the price like RW said ... i want to stay under or at 300 dollars per reel
  8. I want yalls opinions on what to put on these rods for the setups. I have reels in mind but want to see what everyone else would say. Please indicate the reel ratio. Jig/Worm/Spinnerbait: Powell Max 733C (7'3'' MH EF) Crankbait/Jerkbait/Top Water: Powell Max 684CB (6'8'' M MF)
  9. i was completely set on getting a powell max casting rod for my jig/worm rod. With all of the topics of carrot stix coming up has got me wondering how the powell max and carrot stix ltx for 149.99 compare to each other. I have a bass pro in town and can actually touch and feel the carrot stix unlike the powell which is blind although i have been given great advice from Big Tom on the powells.
  10. what i was considering light was exactly what you said... a 1/8 sinker, 3/0 hook and a finessee worm... "Must not have searched very hard. " i typed in patriarch in the search and read all the articles that had that word in it.
  11. searched the forum and couldnt really find any answer on this reel. How is it with light lures
  12. its two cracks in the actually bait not the clearcoat.... so if i send it to rapala they will replace it??
  13. today i used the rapala dives to 6 feet crankbait for the first time. actually it was the first time i ever used a crank bait and had moderate success with it. When i went to put it back in my tackle box i noticed that on both sides of it had a crack. I compared it to the other one i have and the other one didnt have it. the cracks start from where the lip meet the body and goes about 3/4 inch on both sides. They are not big but you can feel em when you run your finger down it. My question is can i just take some super glue to the cracks to make sure that they dont get bigger or should i just consider it a goner.
  14. inches per turn on alphas and sol is 22/23 ... isnt that too slow for worm/jig since you want a faster reel to get the slack in
  15. i wont be able to buy this reel until the first week in may so i have a feeling i wont be able to get a hold of the CHmg50 ... the sol is a 5.-.- gear ratio with a 23 inches per turn, i thought with a worm/jig reel you wanted a faster reel to reel in the slack so wouldnt that rule out the sol... on tackle tour they said the advantage hsta (the factory supertuned one) is suppose to be great with the light lures and has a faster gear ratio, and has the magforce-z vs. v of the sol... for those who said patriarch is it a suitable reel for light worm/jig fishing
  16. trying to pick which reel for light t-rigs and jigs ... here are the options im thinking: scorpion mg 1000 (dont want the non mg because i cant stand the color of it haha), alpha type r, or daiwa advantage -hsta. Which would you think best
  17. how do you guys tie a leader on to braid line... is a swivel the only way. I want to use briad for my jig/t-rig setup but figured it be good to add flourocarbon leader to it and thats why i was asking about the swivell hitting the guides. do you just use a leader knot
  18. thanks and my mistake for such a dumb question haha
  19. when you are using a carolina rig, will the swivells mess up the guides on your rod. if so do you just stop reeling in when the swivell is near your first guide and cast with the 3 or 4 foot after the swivell hanging still?
  20. I was wondering what size hook you use for a 6'' lizard. I use 2/0 for my 4.5'' finesse worms so i figured id probably need a bigger hook for lizards. Also would you use the same hook for you 6'' lizard as the6.5'' trick worm
  21. aight i will get a rebel pop r and some trick worms... what colors do yall think ... and whats a second color for the zara spook and xr50 i always like to get 2 colors of everything... also what about hula poppers... there colors are crazy but which two are good with those
  22. goin out to the lake for the weekend coming up and i just wondering if i have everything i should need... heres what i got: Booyah Boo Jig 3/8oz Black/Blue and Watermelon/Pumpkin NetBait Paca Chunk - Black/Blue Flake,Black,Alabama Craw, and Summer Craw Luck-e-stike 1/8 oz finesse jig heads - black/red and green/red NetBait Finesse Worm - Watermelon Red and Green Pumpkin Norman Fat Boy - Nutter Shad and Chartuese/Black/Orange Rapala DT06 - baby Bass and Firetiger Xcalibur xr50 - blue/chrome/orange Zara puppy - black shiner Im wonderin if i should get another color for the xr50 and zara puppy. Also tryin to figure out if i should get a jerkbait, spinnerbait, and a popper . If so which kind and size/color
  23. since say 12 pound test yo-zuri hybrid has the strength of like 19 pounds ... should u use a lower pound if you rod line rating only goes up to say 17 pounds so that the line will break before your rod
