  1. There is no info on our dnr website about it but i imagine it is legal for South Carolina since i see striper fisherman trolling multiple umbrella rigs allot.
  2. I use 15# for jigs, spinner baits, worms, and square bill crank baits. 10# for jerkbaits, middle/deep crankbaits. I also fish in uber clear water and i really think the switch to flouro has made a big difference in the amount of bites i get.
  3. Unless i come across some mega deals i am all set for the season. I think i hit every clearance and close-out sale we had in town. Even took a trip to Concord for the spring classic at bass pro shops ( which was a huge disappointment for me)..
  4. 11th place isn't fairing to well? Kinda like when tiger woods came in second in his hay day he didn't have a good tournament?
  5. I gotta agree with you. Just about every crank bait or top water has the orange belly no matter what it is trying to mimic. I have been wondering the same thing so you are not alone in your aggravation. I actually just picked up a chug bug and selected one based solely on the fact that it was the only one without and orange belly.
  6. I'm in ......again. Hopefully i can improve from last year
  7. I would like to see another "major" tournament for the elite series. I like starting it off with the classic but you are correct that leaves allot of the country out. However if you have ever seen the 2005 (I think) classic in Pennsylvania 3 rivers it was probably the most boring thing ever IMO. Those guys were estatic over a 1# fish and 12# won the whole thing. But if they were to have another major later in te year on some of those lakes know for big smallies I believe that would make for some can't miss tv.
  8. If the water is colder then i opt for the fluke. A little warmer and i'll go to the spinnerbait or squarebill. Like mentioned above with stumps its squarebill laydowns and limbs would be a spinnerbait.
  9. If you gut hook a fish during a tournament are you required to remove the hook before weigh in? I ask cause I noticed that bobby lane seemed to gut hook a fish during the BMC and just cut the line instead of tryin to remove the hook.
  10. Wow you really did your research. It's good to have side by side comparison of reels in the same class to see which one has most bang for your buck. But I will say that there is a mile of difference between the reels @ 59.99 and those at 129.99. I would use the chart as a breakdown of 3 groups. >70, 71-100 and 100+. Good job and a very useful tool !
  11. Vicious fluorocarbon. You WILL need some KVD line and lure but once treated its awesome line. Left untreated you will have a 120 yard slinky spooled up
  12. Exact same thing here. And I agree the majority would be carbonlites.
  13. Maybe try trimming the skirt a bit. I heard a great tip from a pro one time that the skirt on buzz baits cause drag and the more drag the more tilt to the bait. So if you every have one tilting try trimming the skirt.
  14. Now that we know who won i was just wondering who will be tuning in to actually see the classic air this weekend. I will be watching but am a little bummed that i already know how it will end. I tried for about 30 sec. to not watch the coverage on the Internet but my curiosity got the best of me.
  15. at Academy. Noticed to day that all their rods were marked down...Veritas $69....Vendetta $59...Carrot Stick $69....Ethos..$39 , and much more!!
  16. To late http://www.bassresou...97218-sponsors/ Maybe it should be a sticky... sorry man couldn't resist i'm just givin you a hard time..
  17. Had a Quantum once for about 6 months and the anti-reverse went out. It was a lower end reel but i've had less expensive reels that still work fine after 3 years. It seems that the lower end products they make are the troublemakers with quality where as the higher end stuff (exo, smoke, pt's) are quality reels but some feel they can get more bang for there buck with other companies.
  18. One if my buddies insist on casting towards the front of the boat when he's on the back deck of my boat. Bout every 5 min I'll have a lure zinging past my ear. Usually my reply is " the back of the boat is the other way". So far I haven't got hit but if I ever do things are gonna get ugly.
  19. If light is what you are looking for then you'll need to stay away from the Rick clunn rod. That thing weighs a friggin ton.
  20. Those look pretty nice. Will have to give those a look see. Thanks for the link.
  21. If these are the screws on the inside part of the reel (where the spool sits and under the bottom of the main gear side cover) then its pretty common with the pq line of reels. The one on the bottom is for quick access to lube the main gear instead of having to remove the whole side plate.
  22. Looks pretty much the same as other pq's internally as far as the plastic parts. The drag looks upgraded.
  23. Thanks craww. At first I had the same thought that it was plastic and was about to be reel ( Pun intended) disappointed. The reason I asked was that I have a tournament edition that has the same one on it and was gonna switch it out for a brass one.
  24. Just wondering if any one knew what it was made of. It's black and just wondering if it's better/stronger / lighter than a brass one Here's a pic:
  25. Yep the H2O xpress cranks are the front runners in my tackle box these days.
