  7. Welcome to BR. My dad also got me hooked on fishing. Even though he worked 3 jobs at times to keep a roof over our heads and food in our mouths he always made time to take me fishing. Rest in peace dad, I sure do kiss ya!
  8. G-Loomis Rods, IMHO none better. As to reels, I swore by Abu Morrums until I tried the Revo. Who knows which reel will be next but as far as the rods go, like I said, G-Loomis
  9. Maxima Ultra Green 15-30 lb pending how big the swim bait is.
  10. I'm an old fashioned Thin Mint guy myself.
  11. I always remove all my tackle and leave my compartments unlocked so they wont get damaged when fishing tournaments. Even though I dont have to I also remove my batteries and charge them in the hotel room when on the road. I also remove my trolling motor. I've seen too many people ripped off and I know if I ever caught someone stealing my stuff I would end up in jail. Nothing smokes my shorts more than someone thinking they have the right to take something I worked for. I HATE THIEFS!!!
  12. Sweet deal! I dont have a Cabelas anywhere near me, bummer!

  16. I have several of the original Castaic Shad Swimbaits and they ROCK! Awhile back I purchased a couple of the current ones and have to agree, they suck! I guess once you get to be a big company the quality control goes to heck.
  17. Welcome to BR from Currently Cold and Windy California

  19. Great point Shad. Guess I thought that was a well known fact of dead sticking. When I toss out a trout swim bait with the intention of dead sticking it I'll always cover it in Pro Cure Rainbow Trout attractant. Next I'll cast well beyond what I consider the potential strike zone. Then I'll slowly swim it to the zone and just stop and let it sit there and watch it, I've let it sit for up to 10 minutes at a time. Many times I can actually see large dark shadows converge under it, just watching it. Some times they will just eat it as it sits there, other times all it takes is a slight twitch to trigger a strike, MAN, that gives me goose bumps just picturing it in my mind! So yes, you must cast into a spot that you know the bass will be at.
  20. BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I spewed beer out of my nose when I read that. Pretty painfull I'm here to tell ya!
