  1. Last summer on some of the ponds we fished the Zoom Flukes were great! The water levels had gone very low (due to very low rainfall levels) and the vegetation was very high! We put on some white Flukes and fished them weightless Texas rigged. Saved our day of fishing because we could dance across the vegetation and have it drop in the few spots were there was no vegetation and we were on the bass.
  2. A bass my nephew caught around this time last year.
  3. In the small farm ponds where I fish the water levels of the non-spring fed ponds has dropped tremendously. Which makes for a lot of hydrilla and other grasses. What we used to work around this (I love using a crankbait but pulled in more grass than anything with it) was to just use a simple worm hook, no weights, and a fluke rigged weedless. It worked beautifully as you would come to a patch of grass you could finesse the bait across the grass patches and you could make it drop in between the grass spots and pull it over them without catching any grass. We caught 17 bass that day in about 4 hours using almost only that. The water level at that particular pond was about 5 ft. low. Pic below was the big one of the day.
  4. Anything black in color. I would definetly take along a black buzzbait.
  5. Like alot of others my mistake habit is when they are not biting it seems at all (and this is after 30-hour) of no bites, I begin to get sloppy with my casts and not giving the fishing my full 100% attention and wouldn't you know it BAM! have a bite and lost it because I wasn't ready. probably anyways.
  6. 1. Senko - Wacky Style 2. Crankbait
  7. X2!! i got really lucky in this department, sometimes she even gives me some money and says "go buy some fishing stuff!" Cliff Red, I need to introduce my wife to yours!!! ;D ;D ;D
  8. Nope, no net here at least when I am bass fishing. Now saltwater is another story, always bring one because fishing saltwater you really never know what might be on the end of your line.
  9. We fish regularly for bass, but we also like to go catfishing as well.
  10. 8' Bass Raider with a 30lb trolling motor. Not much but gets me off the bank.
  11. I was watching some fishing videos on YouTube and I believe it was a husband and wife fishing and she did the exact same thing! The funnier part of the video was, I believe on the very next fish she caught and used another set of pliers and she did the same thing again!
  12. Conga Rats!!!
  13. BPS because there is not a Cabela's close to me. But normally if I am looking for a particular item I go to the local Academy, they have alot better pricing on almost all of their items.

  15. When I fish at my in-laws pond I usually take our lab with us. She runs around the shore line and hops into the water every now and then. She has swam from shore out to where we are fishing in the boat (about a 2 acre pond) trying to get in. I just just shoo her away, labs are great swimmers. When we pull the fish in she tries to bite them!
  16. No snacks. I just take a BIG Amp and pack of smokes. (but taking Chantix now to quit smoking)
  17. I have to say from personal experience it really boils down to what the bass wants. I normally use the watermelon red color or white with silver flakes. I have used and caught fish in clear and dark water with both of them. Sometimes I catch more with one color over another. So I would just say when it comes to worm color just buy whatever strikes your fancy.
  18. Thanks for not only a GREAT resource, but a pleasant one as well.
  19. For me fishing and drinking don't mix. Almost 100% of the time when I go fishing I am with my son or my nephew. I wouldn't want them to associate fishing with drinking. I would rather them associate fishing with spending quality time with each other and a hobby. The only drinks I have around when fishing are soda and water.
  20. Texas, preferably East Texas. You have great fisheries like Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Lake Conroe, etc, etc. Also East Texas is some of the most beautiful area you will ever see. Rivers, creeks, ponds. Also in Texas there is no State Income Tax either.
  21. Great thread! I was Googling for my own state and came across this web page that has the laws listed for quite a few states and thought I would share. http://www.huntsab.org/hunter_harassment_laws.htm
  22. Thanks! I will have to download and use those. I just recently purchased an Iphone and was wondering if there were any good fishing apps.
