  1. Umbagog is on my bucket list. You staying overnight ? I guess as far as lodging goes there is Paradise Point, Errol Motel and the state park camp ground. do you have any recomendations ?
  2. Yes I am referring to the old style that screwed up into aplastic piece that clamped down on the reel foot. Thanks for the replies.
  3. I have a couple pistol grip casting rods that the plastic clamp piece which holds the reel has broken. Where can I get replacements ? I am thinking that i will have to buy pistol grip handles to scavenge for parts. I really like the old pistol grips and do not want to give them up.
  4. Lake Arrowhead
  5. Bobh64 have you fished the Bellamy Reservoir ? What is allowed to be used for boat and motor on the Bellamy ? I have a 17 ft tracker with 70 hp and bow mount electric motor. Can I use my boat with the outboard but not run it and just use the electric ? Clarks fishing guide says no outboard allowed.
  6. I found dried up grease in the tube where the cable connects and goes through the tube where the motor tilts. Disconnect the cable from the tiller, lossesen nut at the tube and pull back, squirt PB blaster in the tube end.Llet it set and work the steering wheel back and forth moving the cable do not force. Also some heat from a blow dryer/ heat gun on the tube will soften the dried up grease inside. If not successful replace the cable.
  7. New jersey is not in the northeast . But glad you have open water. Good luck and enjoy !!
  8. Dick's has the the Lightning Rod Shock on sale on line till March 28. It is a buy one get the second for half price. I ordered some.
  9. The store is closed.
  10. Thank you Crestliner for the description of your drop shot rigging.
  11. I also like the shorter pistol grip rods in 5 1/2 to 6 ft. I would like to find some inexpensive split grip rods exposed reel seat in that same length range to try. Maybe cutting the handle length down on the 6 1/2 foot rods would work ok. I have seen Field and Stream rods at Dick's listed online in those lengths . I will have to check in the stores.
  12. Manually with an ice chisel.
  13. Bringing this topic back up to to the top because I just learned today that Northern Bass Supply is closing its doors the end of March. Sandy said the business was sold and moving to Wallingford , Connecticut. There will be a retail store and online sales with a new website retaining the Northern Bass Supply name. I went in with a gift certificate to buy no lead jigs. I did get a few jigs. Sandy said as of July 2016 she could not sell lead lures in NH so that is why the buisness is sold. Lead lures can be sold in Connecticut. There may be other reasons for selling out. But probably a smart business decision if you can not sell all the products. Going to be interesting to see how the big retailers handle the no lead sale laws. Will have to do more online shopping now. Sandy and Gary feel as if most fisherman will still use the lead lures. So the loonies and state government forced Northern Bass Supply out of the state.
  14. I would be mind full of the no lead lures allowed and when the laws take effect In Maine. I admit to being a little confused my self about that. But my thinking is that there is no point in buying leaded lures including hooks, weights and jigs presently if there are outlawed within the next couple years. Why take the chance on a violation ? I am looking for no lead alternate replacements my self. But to answer your question swim baits and rage type baits should work well on the weighted hooks.
  15. What happen to it. How do i find it ?
  16. For Pike try Lake Attitash in Amesbury,Mass.
  17. Ike is heading to Maine for a tournament. I am from Maine originally. Where did you say you live in Maine ?
  18. I suggest posting the question in the tackle making forum for more response.
  19. I live in mass but fish in NH because I am only 5 mins south of the NH border but will be definately buy non lead lures from now on. Kind of confused as to what is allowed and not . Also will be keeping the Maine laws in mind as I want to fish in Maine. From maine originally. Thanks for the info Crestliner. Are you still using the same size weights as you would for the lead. Seems like the bizmuth type weights would fall a little slower or does it make much of a differance ?
  20. If i am driving on a flat highway at 65 mph I will tow the boat in overdrive with no issues.. Most of the roads I travel to my fishing spots are under 55 mph and are hilly twisting back roads so it is best to just leave it in 3rd gear. Lets get this thread back on track and answer teamshrink question as to what type of boat that he can tow under 2500 lbs rating. i would say he is limited to an alluminun bass boat , semi v or john boat.
  21. I do not tow in overdrive either. I think I get about 14-15 mpg with the suburban towing the boat. I get about 12 mpg towing my old heavy camping trailer so I need the suburban. I am surprised that you do not get more then 16-17. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I would like to have a new truck but do not need all the extra expenses to go with it either.
  22. I am not attempting to throw this thread of track. But Bass@Crzy I am curious as what you get for average mpg towing that rig with the Odessey ? I have a similar Bass tracker I tow with a suburban and wondering if i could get how much better mpg with a smaller suv type vechicle. Retired with fixed income so I am feeling the pinch of higher gas prices. Thanks Steve
  23. Thanks for the info guys. Looking forward to the trip. Steve
  24. Going to be in Inverness 3 weeks in March and first week in April 2014. Renting a cabin on the Withlocoochee River, use of a free row boat comes with the deal. So what what water temperature could I expect to see in the river. Could any one suggest a productive selection of lures and colors to use. I would be bringing at least one baitcast and spinning rod setup. I have an aluminum bass tracker I could bring but undecided on driving down in the Suburban or the economy car. So just trying to plan ahead and explore my options for the trip.
