  1. I fish the occoquan reservoir as well, and also fish the potomac and other southern VA lakes. Went out to Aquia last friday caught 20 on lipless crankbaits in the grassbeds best 5 went over 15lbs.
  2. Deck it out and throw a bow mount trolling motor on it. You'll be set.
  3. One was in a tournament last year. My brother and I already had a 2, 3lber, and 4lber in the livewell and that is doin pretty darn good for us. We're on a very good shallow jig bite..So we're working down this 50 yard rip rap bank all day long back and forth getting bites every time we turn around. I decided I wanted to move down a little more so we motored down another 3-400 yards to this point with a tiny pocket next to it. We worked the point with nothing and when we moved into the pocket I flipped my jig into about 2 feet of water. I waited for a second and my line was on a b line out of there. I slammed the hook and could feel it was a great fish. Dove under the boat and I'm yellin for the net and getting the line around the trolling motor. The fish comes up and it's a giant. 6lbs. My heart is racing and I finally get it to the boat and my Brother scooped her up. She was up there spawning, most likely on a bed. Tail all cut up and still had some roe in her.
  4. Hey AZ, where you from? I'm from Arlington, in northern VA. There are no youth clubs around I feel you on wanting to join one~!! There are so many adult clubs, I felt as if I was jipped at first...I started fishing these tournaments on the occoquan reservoir with my brother with guys who are winning weekend series events, so they're pretty darn good, and I haven't regretted it. I've learned a whole lot, met some of the most helpful people, and am learning how to fish a great reservoir. Just try to find some open tournaments, or small boat tournaments.
  5. My brother and I's first boat was a coleman crawdad, we called it the tub!
  6. Could be a couple of things. What type of line are you fishing? Sometimes fluoro gets quite brittle, and even the slightest knicks can make it snap. The other thing it could be from is a backlash. If you're fishing mono, that's a different story, it's usually not to brittle.
  7. The Pro Spot Remover is better for me because the head of the bait wont come off. The regular ones are just as good, the bait's head just comes off sometimes.
