  1. Because he's not wearing the the black bedliner. It will be hot to the touch in the sun but so would white. Sand at the beach gets hot, doesn't it? It won't make much of a difference sitting on the seats in it. I have two SUV's. One with black leather and one with light tan leather. There's no difference in inside temperature when they sit in the summer sun. Give the guy a break. He got a great deal on a nice boat.
  2. 3/4" ply with 2x4 and 2x10 supports underneath, sealed with 4 coats of Thompson's Water Seal. Lowe's outdoor carpet glued on top and stapled underneath. 2007 Honda Kiwi Green Dupont paint on the exterior.
  3. He said it is very stable. The front pedestal can be lowered like the back one. It cost him around 1k for materials (but he had everything --LED interior lights, cup holders, locks for the storage, on board charger, and the seats were custom made) and I charged him 1k to do the work. You could get away with $500 easy if you do all the work yourself.
  4. Started a little side business.... when I'm not fishing. Modding jons and other aluminums into bass boats. Making a couple bucks and it's fun. Just finished this one for a guy and he was thrilled. He wanted the works too..12v outlets, interior lighting, running lights, etc., etc.
  5. Thanks for all your advice guys. I will let you know how I do in the tournaments.
  6. I'm all set up for the tournaments, minus the livewell. I'm thinking of using a cooler with a high quality aerator.

  8. Hi Guys, Just joined a Bass fishing tourney with my father in law. Talked to a buddy of mine who is in the same club and he says most of the guys have boats with 100hp engines and higher. My boat is nice, but only has a 15hp and goes 15-20mph. Give me some tips on what I can do, being that I'm not going to be the first one hitting the good spots at the tournaments. We can fish, but I have a feeling we're going to have to play "clean up". P.S. Anyone have a 30 horse they want to give me???
  9. I had an Endura 50 lb and it pushed mt 10' jon faster than a 1.75 hp gas motor did.
  10. Thats exactly right. The notaries charge really high online messenger service fees to initially process all the paperwork. Could have mailed it in, but I wanted to fish!
  11. They have walk in places in PA. I bought a boat, trailer and motor for $500. Great deal, right? Yeah, untill I had to transfer both titles, pay for new registrations on both, plus the notary's ridiculous fees that cost me over $200 smackers. Pis%#* me right off!
  12. Ok, well if you find it let me know. Thanks.
  13. Way2slow, I checked on Iboats and a 1953 fastwin 15 and a 1965 fastwin 18 prop are the same part number so it will work! That would be awesome if you would send that to me. Maybe we could get something figured out. Let me know. Had the boat out today with my son who is 75 lbs versus my farher in law's 225. Played around with the high speed knob and found a better spot in it where the motor gained a few rpms. It wanted to get up and plane but just fell a little short so I'm sure that prop would help. Obviously I will pay for the shipping if you could find it. Thank you.
  14. It's a '53 Evinrude Fastwin. It has over 100 psi in both cylinders, a carb rebuild, new coils and impeller. It runs great. I didn't get a chance to check the propeller pitch yet. I'll let you know.
  15. Thank you for that. I can use it. I have to figure out a way to get some weight off the boat. I realize I am right at capacity, I have around 900 in the boat with 2 people and my capacity is 880, but I just need a little more power to get up on plane.
  16. I'm probably topping out at around 12-15mph. The boat actually isn't overloaded, it's right at capacity. The boat itself weighs 300 and the capacity with persons and gear is 880. I found i could get a 7" pitch prop. Would that be better than a 9" or would it be too much. 1200 -880 320 beyond capacity You are misunderstanding. I can put 880 pounds in the boat. The boat hull weighs 300. The capacity doesn't include the hull weight. That equals 1180. I estimate that it weighs 1200. I'm 20lbs over. I won't bring the 30 pack next time.

  18. I am estimating around 1200 which includes the decks, floors, both motors, big trolling battery, full tank of gas, a bunch of gear and two 225 lb men, not to mention the boat itself weighed around 3 beans itself--very heavy gauge aluminum. Will the 9 inch prop sacrifice top end speed? Don't care as long as it gets on plane, it just pushes water now. What if I had the other passenger move to the rear of the boat when accelerating to take off some weight from the bow?
  19. Do you think a 25 horse would do the job?
  20. Hi guys, I have a 14' V hull with decks, seats trolling motor, etc., etc. I would estimate with 2 people and gear it weighs near 1200 lbs. I have a 15hp on the back. Should this get the boat to plane? It doesn't so I was wondering if the motor isn't pushing out all the hp or if it simply isn't enough to get it up on plane. Thanks.
  21. Here is the first one I caught off of the boat. Father in law got the first one, so I owe him breakfast, but mine was bigger so I was happy about that.
  22. Thanks. I kinda said the same thing when I looked at the before and after pictures. It's cool what a little paint and some elbow grease could do. Me and the father in law are thinking about flippin' boats for a little extra cash!
  23. Thanks. I used 5 cans of Krylon Gloss Black and 1/2 can of chrome for the wheels. I debated spraying it with the air gun but decided against it.
  24. Boat is done, came out better than I expected, the extra weight from the decks and floors slowed it down a little but added some stability. It was a fun project and I plan on doing it again. I still have to repaint the motor, but that could wait--I have some fishing to do!! Here are some pics.
  25. With a marine battery, the general rule of thumb is to charge it at 10% of the amp hour rating of the battery. For example, 100 amp hour battery should be charged at 10 amps. Always charge the battery no more than 24 hours after using it and try not to discharge it more than 50%. The shallower the discharge, the longer the battery will last. Here is a list of battery groups and the approximate amps which they should be charged. 12V U1 4.5 Amps 12V Group 22NF 6.0 Amps 12V Group 24 8.0 Amps 12V Group 27 10.5 Amps 12V Group 31 13.5 Amps
