  1. Dan thats exactly where I have spent most of my time today. Those guys have some gear that is absolutely mind blowing!
  2. Just curious if there were any high end rod or reel enthusiasts here. I don't ever really seem to see any posts about any JDM rods or reels on here. I have some interest in possibly picking up a high end rod (megabass, gan craft, evergreen, etc.) but I have to end up going to other sites to read up on them. Anybody got any goodies?
  3. So I am about ready to pull the trigger on a new steez reel but was concerned because I fish lakes 50 percent of the time and rivers with brackish water 50 percent of the time. Will the brackish water wreck this reel? Somebody help...please. I am going to get one of the new steez fle-x-lite cranking rods and want a really light weight reel to pair it up with. I don't mind spending the money for something that will last me a long time and that I will enjoy.
  4. I am considering going all out and buying a JDM rod (evergreen, megabass, jackall, etc.). Does anybody have one of these high dollar jewels? Opinions please
  5. I have the 7'6 zillion flipping stick. I love it! SUPER SENSITIVE and that reel seat is really comfortable. I want to get some more zillion rods now...I can't put this thing down! I am fishing it with braid around thick grass and I have put fish in the boat that I might not have ever felt with other rods. It is a really strong rod though. Acts like a really stiff heave...almost more like an extra heavy but it works perfect for what I am doing with it! You will not regret that purchase. It is awefully close in feel to the steez but for half the price.
  6. Well...it was a tough day on Saturday. It took just over 10lbs to win it and we had right at 7. We were lucky to have found those. The bite was slow (for us) and just about the time I figured the fish out the tide changed and I just couldn't get on them again. Oh well...I still love that river!
  7. Thanks Leo. I did some searching on the internet and saw that apparently when it first hit the market they had some issues with it breaking at the knot. I can get a smokin' deal on some at the local tackle shop and it felt like good line but I didn't tie any knots with it and if it breaks (a lot) at the knot then its not a deal at any price. But I know that not everybody likes everything. I was hoping to get more reviews (like yours) from some die hards. thanks
  8. Anybody ever used Berkley Iron Silk? I was hoping to get some feedback on this line.
  9. yes we are putting in at williams. There are atleast 2 tournaments out of williams tomorrow.
  10. I was wondering if anyone can suggest someone to custom paint some reels for me. I have some revos that I would like painted...just wanted something different. Didn't know if anyone had asked before. Info would be good...pics would be great! thanks
  11. Has anybody tried either of these baits? I love a sweet beaver so when I saw these I had to order some! They just arrived in the mail today so i will try them tomorrow. The squirrel tail worms look like they would be awesome on a shakey head...will try that tomorrow as well. Just wondered if anybody had tried them.
  12. Burley I saw that one but the reviews scared me off. Sounds like the folks that had it didn't like it.
  13. go to home depot or lowes and get some heat shrink tubing in the electrical section. The size you need is 3/32. It comes cut in about 5 inch sections and one pack will do a bunch of hooks and its under 2 bucks. Cut one end flat and the other at about a 45 degree angle. Its really simple and works great. I do it on a lot of different hooks I use. It is what the bmf keeper is.
  14. I don't know if anyone else has been on the pamunkey but the last couple weeks have been brutal. All the fish I have cought (which hasn't been many at all) have been very small. The bite that I was on a few weeks ago is long gone. Anybody having any luck on the pamunkey?
  15. Seriously...nobody can offer any info?
  16. Anybody have any idea when the new Cumara crankbait rods will be available? I have a few cumara casting rods now and LOVE the sensitivity so I am considering trying one of the new crankbait rods whenever they hit the market. Thanks for any info.
  17. I am a huge advocate of tungsten flippin' weights. Like others have said it depends on what setup you are using. I have a Daiwa Zillion flippin' stick and use braid and I can feel EVERYTHING!
  18. I am looking for a new pedestal seat for my boat and to this point all I have ever had were the more inexpensive ones. I know you get what you pay for so I am open to suggestions. I saw these and wondered if anyone had tried them. Any info would be appreciated! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21276-cat21282-cat21334&id=0053964019521a&navCount=4&podId=0053964&parentId=cat21334&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21334&hasJS=true http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21276-cat21282-cat21334&id=0043384018885a&navCount=8&podId=0043384&parentId=cat21334&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=XK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21334&hasJS=true
  19. I have a friend that catches GOOD smallmouth at Pony Pasture! He has caught BIG fish in eddy pockets behind rocks that would have people sunbathing on them. Its pretty crazy. Spinning tackle and Zoom centipede...all you need.
  20. I use to work at Green Top and I can tell you that if one of the guys at the counter told you that he more than likely heard it from a good source. It is something that could happen anywhere but that is why the clerks at the gun counter (no matter where) have to keep an eye on people. You wouldn't believe how often people would come in with a gun to trade in that was loaded! Pretty scary stuff and it is definately a scary thing. Even people that have been around guns there whole lives make mistakes...but that kind of mistake could cost someone their life. Just glad to hear that nobody was hurt.
  21. I read not to long ago that some of the tour pros use scent on some of their hardbaits...more specifically their crankbaits. I saw that they were using something that looked like a wax type of attractant almost like a larger version of chap stick. Anybody know what type of attractant would work good for hardbaits? I use liquid scents on my soft plastics but it doesn't seem to stay on the crankbaits but a cast or two. Any help would be appreciated.
  22. The reaction innovations bmf hooks (which these look A LOT like) have sold recently on ebay for as much as 12 dollars a pack so I guess people that really liked those hooks might not have a problem paying that for them. I can say that I have about 5 packs of bmf's left and I wouldn't sell them for 12 dollars a pack...they are the best flippin' hook I have ever used BY FAR!
  23. I am planning on trying this for when the bite is a little tougher. Sometimes I can find fish on tough days when I down size my baits so I figured since I like the original sweet beaver so much it is worth a try.
  24. I am a HUGE fan of reaction innovations sweet beaver. I was wondering if anybody has ever used the smallie on a slider head. I have to assume it would work well but haven't tried it yet myself. Anybody tried?
  25. though the slider worms and weights may not be something you hear about often they do catch fish...very well at times. I have to agree that I really like the roboworm straight tails on a slider head. And again I have to agree that if you use a zoom tiny brush hog when the bite is tough you may be suprised!
