  1. Thanks for the recommendation. I like the smaller size of the 50 series so wanted to try others as well. Looks like they don't offer the XLT yet in lefty, so I'll have to hold off until they come out with one. Bummer, as it looks pretty gorgeous.
  2. Does Pinnacle have a model with a similar palm-size as the Core/Chronarch 50 series of Shimano? Who makes Pinnacle reels? The latter is more out of curiosity since no one ever asks anything on Pinnacle reels.
  3. Also, what is everyone's favorite jerkbait color/size for LOZ?
  4. I'll be helping a friend replace his fuel injectors on his 2003 Mercury 115. Any recommendations on where online I can get the best price for a set? And will they have just the screens/o-rings as well? Thanks.
  5. I have the Curado 51's (today's Chronarch 51) and liked them enough that I got rid of my Core 51. I have other reels I like as much, though, they are just different. Buy one at a good price; don't like it you can sell it for close to what you paid. If you like it, keep it, then buy the other later at a good price and keep both or sell the 1 you didn't like as much for close to what you paid for it.
  6. I'd get the 4.7:1 ProQ. Not because the ProQ is better but because they don't have that ratio in the Lews. 4.7 will improve your cranking skills substantially.
  7. Get Fireline Braid - it's excellent. 50lbs is 12lbs mono diameter. I have spools and spools of the stuff picked up on sale; much better than Powerpro. I would say it's more "different" vs. better/worse than Suffix.
  8. Which generation? There's 3 - 1 - had the six pin brakes 2 - had the 3 and 3 spring-loaded pin brakes 3 - the current black and white 1 and 2 were identical except for the modified braking. I have a bunch of those and it's a work-horse reel.
  9. I prefer them over the Shadalicious. This is a smoking deal, thanks.
  10. You mean like when Lgmouthgam fondled an in-store Lews and then proceeded to write a 5 paragraph "review" of the reel and how it couldn't be better than his Shimano? Oddly enough I didn't see the Posse slap him around for that buffoonery.
  11. Berkely makes things harder for themselves by calling several of their different products (I'll use that term generically to refer to both their fused and weaved kevlar products) "Fireline" and confusing everyone. There is: - Fireline Crystal - a white fused line that is supposed to be invisible in the water - Fireline Original - a fused line - Fireline Braid - their weaved product - this is the one to get - Fireline Tracer - weaved but alternating color for high visibility (for the angler) - Fireine Micro Ice Fused Crystal - Micro Ice version of above Crystal (no clue what that is) - Fireline Micro Ice Fused Original - Micro Ice version of above Original (no clue what that is) The Fireline Braid is an excellent braid (search this site for "Dodgeguy Fireline") and is my favorite non-high end braid. I like it even more than Suffix. I've used the Crystal and used to like it, but greatly prefer the weaved braid. The fusions will fray; they're supposed to be more round by gluing them together vertically instead of weaving them.
  12. I have several Zillions. Had a Core 51, and have several Curado 51's (last year's model - this year's Chronarch). The Zillion has a larger palm-print and is heavier. The Zillion is extremely smooth and arguably the best braking system out there. It's one of those reels that gets better the more you use it. You should compare it more against your 201's due to the size/weight/capacity.
  13. Directions: 1. Look up Uni to Uni knot directions 2. Tie knot 3. Test strength 4. Create workarounds for different line types and/or different line diameters 5. Switch to Alberto knot 6. Never look back
  14. It's the tie-er, not the knot that is most important. The palomar will work as well (or better) as any other knot, regardless of line, if tied correctly.
  15. Both Paca and Rage. I use both and like both.
  16. You're going to have to be a wee bit more specific...
  17. The BB1 is designed specifically for cranking. It's based on David Fritt's input around not having infinite anti-reverse. He believes the infinite anti-reverse takes away feel and sensitivity of what the crankbait is doing. He had a similar model with Basspro but they discontinued it a few years back.
  18. There's nothing wrong with going outside the rating; some manufacturers are better at picking the range than others. You'll know when a lure is too heavy for your rod or too light, so try it out and see how it performs.
  19. I remember when Bobby was just weeks away from finally coming out with a 1/2 oz Cavitron.....
  20. Fairly big difference in palm-sizing between the 2 so that will be a big factor. The Revo is the better reel but if you prefer a larger footprint you should get the Citica.
  21. I'd keep the Shimano if you have other Revos. It's good to have a variety so you can learn the subtle differences between them and use them accordingly.
  22. I have several Pro-Q's and like them a lot. Great bargain. Not in the same category as an STX by any means (I'm an STX owner as well) but still a great reel for the dough.
  23. In Dwight's tips in the pinned jerkbait thread he uses braid all the time. It's just a tool, use it if it works for you.
  24. I spooled one of my 51's with 17lb fluoro and didn't care for how it handled. I felt the spool was too light for the big/bulky line and that the 17lbs line was a better match to a Revo/ProQ/Zillion of mine with their heavier spools. Line capacity was not a problem in any way, however.
  25. If you have Revos already, get the Curad...err Chronarch, to try something different. Variety is a good thing.
