repair question
Yes. Hold onto the guide with a pair of pliers (so you don't burn your fingers) take a cigarette lighter and gently heat up the ferrull (the metal tube that slips onto the rod) being careful not to heat up the rod. The glue inside will soften and allow you to pull the guide off.

repair question
Like the lady at St. Croix said to me when I called them about the same problem back before I started building my own rods "If your smart enough to use a cigarette lighter your smart enough to replace the tiptop". What brand is it? Call up the manufacturer and tell them you got a damaged tiptop. If its a company like St. Croix they will send you a new tiptop and some heat melt glue. Follow the directions they give you and your done. Its really very simple and will look 'stock'. They may charge you for it but if will be very minimal. If you are dead-set on getting it replaced by a professional a quick google search of "custom fishing rods Muskegon Michigan" will give you a few results.

Mercury 80hp problem
Bad gas? Find a place that sells Non-Oxygenated gas, motors don't like the ethanol. Also make sure you have a clean fuel filter and water separator.

Bug Spray
I believe what your thinking about is the Sawyer Permethrin Insect Repellent. Supposed to work great for ticks and OK for mosquitos.

Trolling motor ?
For your type of fishing I WILL recommend the Auto Pilot. Lake Erie is the perfect place for it. Bucking those waves can be a pain with a cable driven TM since you need to have your foot on the pedal all the time.

Jury Duty tomorrow
Boy, I hope that if I ever end up needing a jury trial, that quality people won't think themselves too "busy" to participate in justice.

Do you use the white pages?
If you mean just the hardcopy - NO! Its much quicker and easier for me to use the internet.

When animals attack...not for the squeamish.
That racoon probably didn't take the fawn down. Deer are born scentless and when they give birth the doe will leave the fawn for a day or two so they both have a chance to recouperate. The 'coon most likely stumbled across it and had an easy meal.

Need trolling motor help!!
Does the prop spin freely? Any noises coming from motor housing? It sounds like you may have a motor burning up or a leak in the lower unit causing a short. To check for a leak, take the head cover off, remove the trolling motor from the bracket and flip the entire thing upside down to see if anything drains from the shaft where its attached to the head.

Great looking truck Chris!! Did I just say that about a Ford???

Quicksilver oil
As long as your not mixing synthetic with non-synthetic you will be fine(some synthetics don't play well others). BUT if the motor still has a warranty on it I suggest going with the recommended oils.

Motorguide stainless steel shaft corroding?
Looks like hardwater stains to me

Lower Unit oil leaking.
Alot of 2 stroke oils are blueish green also. What does it smell like? If its got a gassy and/or burnt smell: 2 stroke oil, no worries. If it does smell like the gear oil you will have to get it fixed, and is probably the upper shaft seal or something like that.

Lower Unit oil leaking.
I find it highly unlikely the gear lube in the lower unit is coming out of an area above the lower unit. Like way2slow said its probably unburnt 2stroke oil.

Company leadership
Those are the kind of guys who know how to run a company and I applaud them! They know that when you cut your employees salary/benefits, morale goes down. What they are doing is keeping morale up while sacrificing a little for the time being so that when the economy and company starts to rebound they don't need to worry about the employees being bitter and leaving and will hopefully have a headstart on the companies who made the employees make sacrifices. You've got a good thing there, congratulations!! Got any openings???

Should I buy a boat w/ a Merc Opti?
I agree with Ellesar. Most design flaws pop up in the early years of a motor and if its been serviced regularly and has a 'normal' number of hours on it for the age of the motor I wouldn't be too concerned. I would be slightly concerned if the motor only had a few hours on it which would mean it may not have been used enough for a any sign of a problem to pop up. Like was said, get it to a qualified mechanic and have it checked out.

Tail biting Bass
Sounds like there was alot of competition for food(grabbing the lure and running with it so others wouldn't take it) and a slow worm presentation may not have been the best option for the day. I would have tried something a little more compact like a swimjig, spinnerbait or something similar if that was the case.

Jarmo Limited edition crankbaits
Here is their description ----> To honor Finland's world-renowned tradition of fishing lure craftsmanship, Jarmo Rapala has introduced a limited edition lure that every lure collector will want to own. These meticulously handcrafted balsa wood lures are overlaid with hand-rolled, star patterned foil on the sides. Then 14 layers of paint and lacquer are applied to create a lustrous finish. The installation of an extra-wide lip ensures an enticing wobble as the lure "swims" on the retrieve. Strong through-wire construction connects the lures three ultrasharp treble hooks to complete the assembly. Then, Jarmo personally tank tests, hand tunes, autographs and puts the serial number on each 4" lure. These lures are made exclusively in Finland by The Finnish Lure Company. Your lure will arrive in a classic cedar presentation box. Only 1,000 of these lures will be made so don't delay!
