  1. Yes it will drain back through the pump if not plugged. Plug it if you want it to hold water. Nothing wrong with the tubing mechanically I just don't really like it because the ribs can hold water and debris and you have to buy it in predetermined lengths, its not recommended that you cut it. I prefer the clear braided tubing, its thicker and more ridgid than the clear so it won't collapse or kink as easily.
  2. Thank You!! I take an Xacto Knife and carefully shave off the epoxy and threads on top of the guide feet. That will loosen the guide so you can remove it, and most of the threads and epoxy will be able to be peeled off. The left over epoxy that isn't over anything to protect the blank, I do the same but will only go down to the threads so I don't damage the blank then carefully cut apart the threads so I can peel everything off. You will probably go through a few blades doing this but keeping a sharp blade is key. When everything I want to remove is off (since this is an unfinished/unpainted blank) I take a 320 sanding sponge to remove anything that may be left over. The next rod I do I will try and remember to snap a few process pictures and post a how to thread on this.
  3. How 'bout ---> Primus - 'Fish On'
  4. A few buddies with strong backs and a case of beer!! Seriously, how heavy can said 14 foot boat be?
  5. Did you call up Quantum to see if they can send you a new one? Like I said that is not something that should go bad, it sounds more like a manufacturing defect.
  6. First, before you go buying a new handle check to see if the spring between the drag star and black ratchet washer is there and not damaged/broken. Also check to make sure the black ratchet washer is not damaged/stripped. Those would be the first things to fail before the handle.
  7. Did you check to see if you have a good ground going from the truck to the trailer? Alot of people overlook this part or think that because the trailer is hooked up to the vehicle everything is good. A little bit of corrosion will create a big headache. To test this, run a jumper wire from a clean spot on the frame of the truck to a clean spot on the frame of the trailer and see if everything is working properly.
  8. Check and clean ALL connections, also make sure you have a proper ground between the trailer and vehicle
  9. This is exactly why the Berkely Transition line was invented, unfortunetly the stuff sucks. >
  10. I guess I should clarify, if your just using it for a point of reference and marking waypoints as you go a handheld is just fine. But if you use it like I do, with mapping chips/software installed, the screen will not be big enough IMO to clearly see anything unless you zoom way in, so to me that defeats the purpose of having the mapping software if you can't see what the structure is like around you.
  11. I agree get a hitch package, they are pretty cheap. Just an FYI, in most/all states having a hitch ball installed on the bumper is ILLEGAL because it blocks the license plate.
  12. MN has a lifetime license that is good for your lifetime even if you move away which is really nice. I unfortunatly forgot to buy mine before I moved away from MN last fall.
  13. I've used all the different types of GPS's out there (Sonar/GPS Combo, GPS Only, and handheld) I like the Combo units the best because you can be traveling along, see a spot on the sonar that looks promissing, use the arrows to scroll back on the sonar and press waypoint, it will save a waypoint where cursor was on the sonar. It has saved me a heck of alot time trying to find where I just was. I've tried using my handheld Lowrance Ifinder H2O in the boat and it is a big headache, the screens aren't big enough to clearly see where you are when the boats rocking. I now only use my H2O when icefishing. Personally I would get a good Combo unit for the boat and a cheap handheld for backpacking, but if I were to just go with a handheld for both, the Lowrance H2Oc would be my choice. Last I checked they had the biggest screen of all the midpriced GPS', color screen, they're waterproof and IMO they are the easiest to navigate through all the menus.
  14. WOW!! They lasted long enough to get down to 50% off?!?! Man, the one near me was pretty much fully picked through at 20%. Not much good stuff after that. Yeah, I would have grabbed both, and at the very least thrown it up on Ebay and made a few $$$ on it.
  15. I think somebody needs to lighten up and actually read one of the jokes... : :-X
  16. Just the new pump motor will cost atleast $250 new, then you have to add the rest of the assembly. You can find plenty of used power trim setups on Ebay for pretty fair prices though.
  17. Is that the 'Classic 50'?? If so its actually a 45hp and I would most deffinetly get it! They are great, and the smoothest running motor you will find. It also takes alot to wear one of them out. They are also very easy to find parts if you need any, and many can be found on Ebay.
  18. Thats a med-heavy flipping stick, I would use it for t-rigs and 1/4-3/8oz jigs. Great deal at 50% off from a $300 rod!!! Nice buy!
  19. +1 We had two books in college that cost over $100 each and we never even looked in them. I guess it would have been smart to atleast scan through them, but then I'd be considered a nerd and have to kick my own a** ;D
  20. Sawzall blade?? Nah...Strap a couple Ginsu knives to the motor!! Much sharper and if they dull on you just remember...Lifetime Warranty!!! ;D You'll never have to worry about weeds, aluminum cans or radiator hoses fouling up that motor ever again!! ;D ;D
  21. The WW2 will NOT fit on the Edge40. The 40 has a 3 1/4" dia motor the other edges have a 3 5/8 dia motor. Refer to this page for more info on what props fit what motor. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/_docs/propSelectionChart.pdf The only difference I have seen between the WW1 and WW2 besides the size is the tips of the WW2 are flared out which prevents the weeds from tangling around the hub. If you trully are really interested in getting the benefits of the WW2 you may want to try taking a lighter and very cafefully and evenly bending the tips out. Otherwise step up to the 55 or higher to get the benefits. To tell you the truth, they aren't that much greater. The real difference is in the extra power which helps blast the weeds away.

Looks good Eric!! Whats in the split grip area? Some kind of decal or did you marble it?
  23. Hope so! Hey i copied you and got the yellow cool foot like yours. I was going to get red to match the back 1/2 of my boat but i decided to color match the MinnKota letters instead. ;D Yellow is 8-) Atleast you didn't get PINK!! LOL
  24. Thanks guys!!
