Beale AFB/Yuba City CA
Man, you and me are gonna have to have some serious discussions. Either that, or you'll have to write a Beale AFB Bass Fishing Guide! I think I'll try the bend this weekend, if I find the time. Frisky on base wears me out already!

Lipsticker, Frisky is the lake you need the key for, and my personal best bass was outta that pond. I drag my float tube out there after work all the time, and it's always good fishing! I didn't know you could fish that creek coming out of the dam, but I do now. I'm going to have to check that out. Same with the pond outside the Grass Valley gate. As for fishing outside the base, I've done Oroville twice now, and I'm headed to Clear Lake in a few weeks. Did you ever try fishing the quarry ponds, near the concrete companies outside the Doolittle gate?

Yo-Zuri Hybrid
Road Warrior advised me to get it, so I bit the bullet and bought 1200 yards (I went a little nuts). No complaints, and I won't be using anything else. That stuff is as smooth as ice!

Finding Bass
One thing I will not do is go to another spot like it That got my attention right there. When we nearly got skunked at Oroville, we moved from favorite hole to favorite hole, but every single one of them was rock piles in 15ft of water. Changed lures, changed styles, changed colors, but we kept blasting away at the same structure type. We were in a rut, or perhaps fishing what was comfortable and familiar, but that was the problem! Thanks for the wake up call! Frank

Super Aggressive Fish
All I can think of is that Talladega Nights quote: "One of you turds is about to get punched in the mouth!"

Carp in the way
A buddy of mine went fishing at Oroville yesterday, and we nearly got skunked, and I'm trying to figure out if the carp we saw had anything to do with it. I know most of you haven't seen Oroville, but it's a decent lake with a steep bank that continues down into the water. There are tons of rock slides that start on shore and continue down into the water, and these are our favorite places to fish. But each of these piles we went to had dozens of massive carp, easily 6lb+, cruising and various depths, as well as thrashing the shoreline, doing what I don't know. We usually bounce Senkos and jigs off those rocks at 8 to 10 feet, with great results, but the 5 bass we caught in 11 hours were deep (25ft or more). I'm looking for your opinions on whether or not these trash fish might have an impact on the bass bite. I was thinking the bass might have been deep because the temperature was 101, but that had just started and the water was still pretty cool, so in my mind it was those stinkin carp. I just need one person to say it was, and I'm going out there with my 9mm. Frank

rain?
I'd take rain over sun any day of the week for fishing, and not just for bass, but for trout and crappie. 95% of my fishing is from a float tube, so the rain won't mess with any of my equipment (it's all canvas and rubber), and I just get a good feeling while fishing in the rain. If any of you on the forums had your dads cut holes in black garbage bags to make easy ponchos, you know what I mean. Last time it rained here I fished the base pond with some of those Spro Bronzeye frogs, and I tore em up!

After Work Special
Last week I bought the Bass Mojo/Pflueger President spinning setup that Bigmountaineer was advertising as a little birthday present to me from me. After work I took my tube out on one of the base ponds, just to make sure that Mojo would catch fish, which it did, as you can see below. They're not hawgs, but still not bad for a quick trip after work! Montaineer, thanks again for getting that rod to me so fast. That combo is as smooth as ice! Frank

Tomac, Do you have a time that they meet on those Thursdays? Bass Busters sounds like something I'm going to have to get in on.

Man, I'm carrying a vendetta against Collins right now, after two trips with nothing to show for it! At least my wife doesn't mind going as long as we pick up some ice cream. I'm trying to make it out to Oroville and Engelbright more often, so if you guys in the area want to fish, let me know! DGF, I'll always take a back seat that's available! I'll keep this board up to date with reports from fishing trips. Frank

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Thank God for the Lower 48! While all three of those destinations are outstanding, they don't pay government workers all that much... Man, I can see that conversation play out in my head right now! "Hon, we can't really get any groceries for the next few months, but just think of how much fun I'd have bass fishing in Brazil!" I'll think of that next time I have the hiccups!

Buckeye Mop Jigs
Just wanted to see if anyone knew off the top of their heads of Buckeye jigs are American-made? A buddy of mine told me they were, but I can't find it on their site. If you know, chime in! Thanks. Frank

That's a bunch of "Bull---- ! "
I guess it's just the way you fish growing up! Cattails are a cover I'll fish, but I can't walk away from rock piles in ANY body of water, no matter what I'm fishing for.
