  1. was watching a video of jim duckworth and he says to keep his plastics better he texas rigs it like normal but then sticks a toothpick thru the plastic and the hook eye and cuts it off so its flat with the plastic. tried it yesterday and it seemed to work. caught multiple fish on a ROBOWORMa plastic that normally doesnt last. does anyone else do this?
  2. mid april. air temp in 80ish water temp at 70. overcast. 1-5 ft. weeds . Spro poppin frog in lime green. sufix 40lb. 832 braid. 7ft. heavy ugly stick. curado 200e5. oh and 12lb bass. and lots of them. ;D
  3. From what i have experienced, big or small is good. my avg size went up when i went big in the winter but then again my PB was on a small finesse worm in the late winter. They key is to SLOWWWWW Downnnnnn IMHO. having low speed reels or spinning reels helps with this also bottom lures such as soft plastics or jigs are the way to go...in my opinion. not to say you cant go out and catch a bunch on Rat-l -traps. ive tried but 98% of my winter fish have been on Jigs or soft plastics and i try to average on full crank of the reel every 30 seconds or longer.
  4. hot buy and standard mallards GHG. we own several hundred. great unless you are leaving them out for all season in deep water because they do take on water but good price AND THE PAINT DOESNT PEEL ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  5. When my dad introduced me to go fishing i was invited so it was a privlige and he always made it fun. So im addicted to fishing today. He did a few clever things A. We jig poled for crappie and i used a cork, no casting and no wondering if you have a fish B. would only take me when and where he had bitng fish located (such as the day before), just for the first few times. C. It was all about me. i never touched a minnow nor fish for the first few years (except for pictures). he took them all off for me. now im taking his fish off
  6. no kidding, im waiting for frog weather. this stuff+bronzeyes= the way to spend hot summer days
  7. zoom is connected with wec crankbaits
  8. I had been using 20lb. fireline and the is definitely more stiff but my fireline was also broken in so i expect this to break in and lose stiffness. but i dont mind some stiffness as long as the abrasion resistance is better. And even when it was fairly saturated with water it floated at or near the surface.
  9. For christmas, I treated myself to some of the new suffix 832 in 30 lb moss green for my jig rod and frog rod. I took the jig rod out fishing yesterday. : Cabin fever is really setting in. I had previously been using the original fused fireline and liked it. I think i will learn to like this more but from first impressions i have found: Does soak up water(which i thought it wasnt supposed to do) however it still floats and i dont understand why but the sensitivity to be as much as i expected(although still rather sensitive) smooth, round and very abrasion resistant. (i put it through a little testing wet and dry) overall score from first impressions: 8.5/10 feel free to ask any questions and ill do my best to answer them

  11. if your not fishing with a jig around shallow cover you dont know what your missing. swim it, drag it, hop it, heck even deadstick it. today the ticket was a black and blue strike king jig with a black and blue chigger chunk.. just be ready.you will get your arm broke :D :D :D

  15. We fished pickwick an yellow creek on friday out of stateline. fished all of dry creek, state line island area, and a bit of upper yellow creek. fishing was poor and slow. Not sure what i was doing wrong. Found the shad and a few smaller fish but size and numbers werent even close to being there. Thinkin we shouldve tried to get a jerkbait bite around bluff walls and gravel banks. most to all of the heavy shad concentrtions were on gravel banks. Then the boat broke down smack dab in the middle of yellow creek. motor was running just fine but lost foward and reverse gears so a nice arkansasan in a ranger fish-n-ski towed us in. So if the arkansasan is a member, THANK YOU. He told us that the last two days (wednesday and thursday)fishing had been great but today (the day i came) it was horrible .On the way back we called our boat motor mechanic to see when we should bring it in and described the problem and he told us how to fix it at home. (What a great guy -bryan at eds prop shop in memphis). And sure enough just like he said the gear shifter bar that connects the header to the lower unit had come unscrewed and it took 20 secs. to fix but ruined a day on the lake. I still like pickwick though and this wont be my last trip there.
  16. im gonna fish yellow creek for the first time saturday. can anyone tell me what to throw and where

  20. thats what i loved too. when id come to a hole in the duckweed id pause it and let it sink.
  21. so i got to my fishing lake with high hopes. i wanted to catch fish with the bitsy bug jig with half of a 2 inch powerworm as a trailer. this thing looked great. i also threw in a casting rod with a black with chartruse tail culprit 7.5 in worm ( one of my confidence baits.) and put a couple rage craws(summer craw) and another worm in a platic bag with a couple hooks and weights and a pair of pliers. but i really didnt intend to use any of those, i was focused on that finesse jig. well i get to my spot and find that there is a medium sized patch of duckweed up against the dam near where i was fishing. well needless to say the only thing that loved the jig was the baby bluegill. so i went over to the duckweed and i had seen some fish feeding on top so i casted to them with my jig but no takers. so i tried my worm that had a 1/4 oz weight. not the ticket.. so i took the weight off and had a nice strike but it was on the chartuse tail. man what i wouldve given for my takle bag which has all my spro frogs in it. but then it hits me. why not a rage craw weightless. it casted like a rock and made great top water noise and the fish loved it. it made a great bubble trail. not as much commotion as a rage toad(which can be a good thing sometimes) and necessity is the mother of all invention and it turned a bad day into a decent day. now im going back tommorrow with my spro poppin frog and my rod with braid. im excited. hopefully pics tommorrow!
  22. zoom super fluke in pearl that ripped in a special way that when it pauses and falls it does a foward spiral. swim it up to the cover. pause it around the cover. fish it with braid weightless and a mono leader on a swivel on medium heavy spinning gear. 8-) 8-) 8-)
  23. haha thanks. i guess that answers that. thanks so much
  24. just wondering. thinking it desnt get much pressure but never heard about it.
