  1. My Vendetta 7'3 H/XF is an awesome rod for the money. I got it for free though. Great, cheap frog rod. It has since been replaced with a Dobyns, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.
  2. I'm speaking for myself, and probably a lot of others here as well, I retie a lot, so waiting for the glue to dry is pointless. Just tie a good know like Hooligan suggested.
  3. A 7' MH/F rod will handle those techniques well. It will also excel in a lot of other situations. If you want a new rod I would look at the Veritas, Powell Max, the new Compre, etc. Used rod: You will have more and better options. I would go used on this forum, but I understand it can be hard when you're 14 to do an online purchase with another member if your parents have to do the dirty work.
  4. I'm pretty good at it, don't walk a frog much though. I like the chug for slop and pads.
  5. Throwing a Zillion 100HSA on it with hraid as a Rage Tail rod.
  6. I think this is the biggest "thread drift" I have ever seen, LOL. I'll start a beer thread in Everything Else.
  7. I bought a spool of the 14# to throw on my 50e/Cumara combo for finesse presentations. This was my first go round with flourocarbon line, and I figured I might as well get something better than most on the market rather than waste money on crap. To keep this simple the line is very strong. It is a pretty small diameter for a 14# line. Looking back, I probably should have bought the 10# or 12#, as most people would for a 50 sized baitcaster, but it is working out just fine. The line casts extremely well, especially considering the diameter and size of the spool. I am using KVD Line and Lure, and that alone makes all the difference in the world. I was skeptical about flouro transmitting vibrations on a slack line better than braid, but WOW does it ever. I don't have as good of a direct feel for the bottom as I did when I fished the rod with braid, but using the flouro I can feel the smallest taps on a slack line fall. My biggest pet-peeve about non-braided lines is how they stretch. I have been a dedicated braid user for two years now, and couldn't be happier. I can snap-set a fish from 35 yards away and know full well that I stuck her good. The Sniper has less stretch than P-Line CXX, but still enough to bug me a little. I had to re-learn how to set the hook with stretchy line, reeling all the way down and making a big deal about the set. Lately though, now that I'm good at that hookset again, I'm liking this line more and more. I did have one break-off yesterday on the hookset, but I believe that was because I had fished the same knot the whole day before and had not retied. Note to self...don't be shy about retying and slobbering up a knot when using flouro. The only downfall I can see from this experiment: Now I won't want to use a cheaper flouro...ever. Overall I think this is an awesome line that is well worth the price, even with it pushing $25. I would highly recommend trying some. You may be surprised.
  8. Thank you gentleman! I know only two people have guessed, but the weight was bouncing between 6.9 and 6.10. David you were right on man, LOL. My scale is in 1/10's, so that is something like 6 pounds 12 ounces - 6 pounds 15 ounces. Very close to 7, and this fish was only ~22 inches! Easily one of the top five fattest bass I have ever caught. I think that I might dedicate the whole combo to that setup, the Cumara has the absolute PERFECT action for the Baby and the 50e throws it a long way.
  9. The cheap beer I like is Miller High Life. I'm kind of a Sam Adams guy, I like the Boston Lager and Summer Ale as well as the Boston Ale. The best beer I have ever had is Warsteiner straight from Germany. It was so superior to any American beer I have had that I would pay 3x as much for it if I had the money.
  10. Loaded up the car today and Aaron and I hit my pond for a couple hours, midday. The weather was mid-90's with a slight breeze and plenty of clouds in the sky. These conditions are probably my favorite to fish in the summer, but I prefer the temp to be around 84-85. Got to fish the other side of the pond for a little bit today, and found a hole that is much deeper than the rest of the pond. We probably caught around 10, all small except for one big girl that made the day. She hit a Baby Thumper in about 5', right after I twitched it over a tree limb. This hole is 15 feet off the bank and right next to it is a drop off. Honey hole? I think so...and she agreed. I know what the weight is, but tell me what YOU think it is first. Cumara 7'2 MH/F Curado 50e 14# Sunline Super FC Sniper 3/16 oz. tungsten Rage Baby Craw, California Craw
  11. Use braided line with a Palomar.
  12. Heck of a bass and I love the hat!
  13. How did the Palomar do? Might get some 40# for a finesse rig.
  14. LOL, I probably shouldn't have just jumped into that post. My dad doesn't let me get hammered all the time. If it's a nice dinner, vacation, etc., it's ok and done responsibly. Kind of a special occasion thing. I think Yeungling tastes like sewer water.
  15. Eh... I'm a beer snob I guess you could say. My parents let me have one a couple times of month. My dad and I try a bunch of different kinds. I like Sam Adams Cream Stout a lot right now.
  16. I hope so. This will be my combo I bring when I only feel like carrying one rod and a handfull of baits.
  17. Just placed my order on TW for a Savvy 743c. I was originally going to get a DX744, but I'm 17 and don't need a rod that nice! Need to start saving some money for college (beer ) so I'm gonna go with Savvy and Champion rods instead. The 734 will be used for t-rigged Rage Craws, plastics, 3/8 oz. jigs, small swimbaits, etc. Basically my main Rage Tail rod. I'm putting my Zillion 100SHA with 50# braid on her. Next is a new reel for my Champion 735, probably a super Citica 200e with a new Chronarch handle and spool, ABEC 7 bearings, Carbontex drag and polishing, and maybe a little paint job.
  18. Used to ride a YZ125 when I was little. Never raced, just trail riding. I'm contemplating getting a sport bike now.
  19. Sweet! Are they big enough to t-rig and pitch?
  20. My other favorites include the Baby Craw for smallies, Shad, Thumper, and Annie. The Lobster is a definite as well.
  21. Spro frog is by far my favorite. I'm going to try the new SK KVD frog, I've heard it's way better than a Spro.
  22. One thing that is very important to me at least is that you need to keep your rod at a 10 o'clock position. I use braided line and I need to drop the rod and do a snap set. If you feel stuff starting to get caught on the jig, drop your rod and snap it like your working a jerkbait.
  23. Save up a little bit and be REAL good to your wife, and get a spool of Sunline Super FC Sniper. It is excellent line with little memory.
  24. Welcome to the forum. It's too whippy for me. Great light stuff rod, though.
