  1. Right, but Powell rods tend to fish more like a power down rather than their actual rating. I've fished with the rod mentioned above and it felt like a MH/MF rather than a H/XF.
  2. The rod probably isn't stiff enough for jigs - I would upgrade a power.
  3. Pitching and frogs as well! How sensitive us the DS flipping rod?
  4. If I had neighborhood lakes, I would ride it. That is pretty cool.
  5. Nice fish Jeff! Looks like she was comfortable while she was bassin'!
  6. I'm not getting the link, but really wanna see this!
  7. I can say with full honesty that you in fact need Adderall, not an energy drink. That stuff is like speed.
  8. High school blows, can't wait for college.
  9. I think the 7'6 H Vendetta would be fine...I personally do see the need. A DX795 / Zillion Type R+ would be one filthy punching combo.
  10. I just read the word ultralight...didn't even read the thread LOL.
  11. Well, it wouldn't last very long where I flip and punch. Have either of you ever fished a 5 power Dobyns rod? That is some SERIOUS backbone. If it works for you, great. It isn't my preference though.
  12. That's basically a whippy MH. I would never use that rod for punching. I don't know where you're from or what you define as "punching", but that would snap real quick here. A great rod for punching is the Dobyns Champion 805FLIP.
  13. It will definitely torque the spool and bend it - I've done it before.
  14. Yeah it's definitely better than the Curado looks wise! How much smoother is the Core 50 than the Curado 50?
  15. I think the black spool looks way better than the red. If he had the Power Grips I think that would be a reel I would definitely buy and customize the same way. I would love to have an NRX/Core or Steez combo. Maybe for graduation...
  16. You gotta post pictures man! What setups were you using as well?
  17. There was a big ol' fat woman takin up the whole road.
  18. I'll help out.
  19. I haven't fished the 663, but being that it's a 3 power rod, yes the tip will load easily.
  20. Go 704, it is a stiffer rod. Unless you prefer a shorter, smaller rod.
  21. It definitely does kill the action a little bit. It's kind of a finesse presentation. I like it. What would you recommend for fishing it like a swimbait with a slow, steady retrieve?
  22. I agree, you probably need a longer, stiffer rod. Flipping and pitching rods are very versitile as well.
  23. Really? I had an amazing morning with the eel today, keel-weighted. It's like a swimbait. Why not? I don't remember even making this topic last night...long night.
  24. It fishes like a Fast action, should have specified that.
