  3. Rainy day...thinking about what I mostly fish (techniques and lures). Finally started to write it down and place them into categories, then I started thinking about the combo I should get AFTER I finish the Dobyns Savvy 735c/Citica 200e combo ;D Here's what I came up with. Dobyns Savvy 735c/Citica 200e/50# PP- Big bottom-contact lures RT Thumper Worms Mop Jig/Space Monkeys Plastics in tight cover Any other jigs Vendetta 7'3 HXF/Advantage HSTA/50# PP- Moving lures Spro Frogs Mattlures Baby Bass Soft hollow body swimbaits After looking at this, I realized I could probably use a combo for pitching plastics (Baby Brush Hogs) around the edges of weeds and wood cover. The price range would be around $100-$150. Most likely matched with a Citica 200e and 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Any suggestions? I was thinking a Mossyback Jig & Worm BCR854, if I could find one for cheap.
  4. Black buzzbaits along weedlines and wood cover can be killer. I like to use black when it's raining or overcast, it always gets more bites for me. Swimbaits also work well.

    Noice.
  6. I also have had some of my best fishing days in rain..
  7. You should just use the Triumph for cranks. Cranking doesn't require a sensitive rod. Then I would get the BCR853 or BCR854 for worms. You'll probably be fine with the 853. Loomis tends to be a bit under-rated. If you don't want to spend that much on a GLX, look at the Avid AVC70MHF. I would also recommend PM'ing roadwarrior, he knows a great deal about both series.
  8. Vendetta 7'3 HXF, Advantage HSTA, 50# P-Line Braid
  9. Depending on lure weights, I would suggest at least a 7' rod. I use a 7'3 for plastics and jigs. I would get a heavy action.
  10. Totally agree, I think you should use braid for all bottom contact lures too.
  11. Rage Tail Thumper Worm Mattlures Baby Bass Spro Frog
  12. 1/2 oz. Booyah Boo Jig, Black & Blue, 4" Chigger Craw, Black/ Blue Flake. 8.2
  13. In before the lock!
  14. "I don't weigh 'em unless I'm sure it's a new PB or a lake record." Re-read that... a LAKE RECORD. That's when you know you catch a lot of good'uns. ;D
  15. Hmm... Big O approves, game changer for me. : I knew you would say that.
  16. For a while now I've been looking for the "perfect" (to me) trailer for a Mop Jig. Five minutes ago, I tried a lure I hadn't even thought of using yet. A Rage Tail Space Monkey. The Space Monkey, my friends, is the perfect match. Jig: Buckeye Lures Mop Jig, 1/2 oz., Green Pumpkin Trailer: Rage Tail Space Monkey, Big Tex I don't think I've ever been this excited about a lure before...
  17. That was arguably the best internet stfu moment I've seen in a while. I just went back and looked at those pics again. Those are some seriously healthy looking fish. That place looks very well managed. Hope you get to enjoy that for a long time, 32251. That was hilarious. I freaking love this place. On a serious note, this is probably the most informative thread I've ever read.
  18. Just to clarify the line is called Lake Fork Parallelium Pro and Fork is in East Texas so there are no bandito problems there to contend with ....I rarely fish it during the day to avoid the traffic. Falcon Lake is on the border where the drug problems and gangs have recently been reported but things are settling down now. I fish it often as well but nights at this point are out of the question so I am concentrating on other lakes like Choke Canyon just South of San Antonio. I do wish I had one of those 50 cal's for whackin' a few of the Water Turkey's though Hit a big fish last night but she pulled me in a deep tree before I could get her into the river channel. That's OK though...she gave me her phone number ;D Big O www.ragetail.com PLEASE post a picture of your PB. ;D
  19. My friend (guide on the James) turned me to these...http://www.thewrightbait.com/ They're the best grubs I've ever used.
