  1. Same here. I just need to slow down when I'm fishing bottom contact baits. Lately I've been fishing them too fast. I'm using P-Line Spectrex 50/10. I like it, but next time I'll 65/16 PP.
  2. Agreed, but add some 50# Power Pro.
  3. compensating That's the funniest post I've ever seen hahahahahahahahaha
  4. Got to the pond today around 5:30, headed straight for the slop. Actually, the stuff I was fishing in wasn't really thick, the thick stuff is behind me. Anyways, I thought it was pretty cool how the fish came back to get it. The cast before he swirled so I pitched it right back. This wasn't a big baby by any means, but it was my first time so I thought I would share. The action starts around 1:30 to save some of you some time. I'm gonna keep trying to make videos like this, just with 5+ pounders. ;D Oh, I missed a big girl flippin' a Smokin' Rooster today. I mean big. I'll get her tommorrow
  5. Thanks Y'all and A-Jay, my line is 25 lb Lake Fork Parallelium, fishing some relatively clear water conditions and braid seems too visible as well as makes a sawing sound when coming thru heavy grass and brush or trees. In these heavily fished waters, I take all precautions to be avoid a possible deturrent to getting the bite. It's very manageable, has low stretch and strong. Paul told me about it sometime back and I've been using it ever since. OH and all of my Magic Trees....Each of them disappear when I'm gone and magically re-appear upon my return I just wave my magic rod across the water and presto...there they are And yes my friend, I am fortunate....She's still all smiles with every fish I tangle with, even after all these years Big O www.ragetail.com What kind of rod are you using?
  6. x2. Pick an area where you FEEL like there should be a big fish (ie. isolated cover, drop-offs, etc.) and fish it VERY slowly. Keep casting to the same spot, and experiment with different twitches, pauses, stops, etc. Like Big-O says, a big fish is your LOCK, and all of the variables that factor in to catching her are your KEYS.
  7. I would look at Yo-Zuri Hybrid 6lb. test, or P-Line CX Premium, also 6lb. test. They both break at much higher tests.
  8. OH MY GOD. How much did they weigh? You da man!
  9. Vendetta VTC73-7, Advantage HSTA, 50# PP, 15#CXX leader.
  10. Private pond. I'm lucky to be able to fish these ponds, there's some huge fish.
  11. Yes its the red colored reel with the 5.3:1 ratio and bait clicker Bait Clicker- Catfishing.
  12. Wow dude, nice fish!
  13. Got out today with the brother. Caught three all together. Biggest was this one, 4.12#. She hit a Spro Frog in Leopard color. I also missed a frog fish for the first time, shows how awesome the Spro's are. Also caught my first fish on a Mattlures Baby Bass.
  14. Teach me how to actually hook bass on these instead of missing them... How long should I wait to set the hook after a bite?
  15. Nice fish, the pup is a stud!
  16. They're awesome rods! I've been using mine for a while now. It's actually really sensitive, pretty much exactly the rod I was looking for. I would pay $120 for one.

That stuff is AWESOME for froggin'. Thanks for the tips, and the suggestion. The Spro's really are king. I've noticed that the "transition" slop is where I get the most bites, ie. pads to slop, pads to weeds. The openings are also good. The Spro Frog are also really good for open water and they're easy to walk. Love me some froggin'!

Caught five fish tonight on a Spro Frog. Fished for about an hour and a half, missed two. Love the topwater bites. Here's the big fish of the day
  19. Got out to the pond today and tossed some RT Shads around some slop and pads. Topwater bites always make for a fun day. Caught five on the Shads, went through the only pack I bought :'( Oh well, I'll just have to buy some more packs ;D After that, I started swimming a weightless Blue Fleck Thumper around some shallow wood cover and weed patches, mostly targeting the isolated weed patches. Nothin' doin', so I made one last cast down the bank to my left and started swimming the Thumper along the edge of some weeds. Saw a swirl, followed by a hit. Set the hook, kept her from jumping, you know the drill. Only had the cell phone, as the real camera was with my dad at work. Measured +/- 21 inches. REALLY skinny for this pond, I hope she goes and catches some big 'gills so the next time we meet she'll be 5 pounds instead of 4.10.
  20. Thank you sir! Like I said, they weren't big, but it was nice to get on some decent fish. Next time I'm in Texas, you'll have to hook me up with some Texas hawgs ;D
  21. I REALLY should have brought the Shads. The isolated weed patches that hold the big girls are out, and I probably could have snagged a few. Tomorrow I'm going to go out around 3:00 to do that exact thing, and maybe flip some junk with a Space Monkey or Rooster.
