Thanks Roger. I'm leaning towards Guntersville. I've been there twice and had a great time although it's been 7 or 8 years ago.

I haven't been south fishing in quite a few years. My brother has been diagnosed with cancer and has been given 6 months to a year to live.He told me he'd like to go south this spring on one last fishing trip. Right now I'm thinking about the St. John River Rodman Res. in March or Guntersville in April. We live in Ohio so Guntersville would be a shorter drive. Any other recommendations? Thanks Bob

You've probably never heard of it .Izorline. Very affordable and the best mono I've ever used.

Actually I would say quite a few of the best lures in that price range are made in Japan.

I've never used one but I'm curious. Is a lure that probably cost less than $1 to make in China really worth what they are selling it for?

Are the pre rapala chug bugs really any better than the new ones? Aren't they made from the same mold?

Nope Pline cxx is thicker and stronger than its rating. I saw a test and their 10 lb. test was about the diameter of most other 14 lb tests and broke at 17 lbs. The way lines are rated here in the states doesn't have any rhyme or reason. In Europe most lines are sold by their diameter

I'd get the compre over the clarus, I have several of the compres and they are great plus they come with a lifetime warrenty

To second the comments about vanish, that has to be the worst line ever. It became very brittle and retarded weak in a very short time, maybe less than a month. However the Berkely 100% Flouro and both Stren Flouro Cast and 100% have been good for me. I like the minimum stretch compared to mono for flipping and pitching. A good line conditioner will cover the memory issues. In my experience it holds up better than mono to abbrasions. I think that has a lot to do with brand though. I've looked at tests and when it comes to stretch most fluros have as much or more stretch than monos. I think most people have it pounded in their mind by ads that fluros don't have much stretch and they mentaly think its true when they use it. According to tests done by tackle tour Berkley 100% fluro has more stretch than thei own xl mono has. I believe the only thing that would add to the sensitivity of fluro would be that is sinks so you probably don't have as much slack in the line while it sinks

I haven't used braid since it first made a comeback quite a while back. What I didn't like then was the fact that when I got a good fish on that pulled drag the line seemed to bury itself into the other line on the spool. Is there a way to prevent this?
