Weirdest Thing You've Ever Hooked?

Featured Replies

A friend of mine just accidentally caught a frog on a 4 inch Senko. I caught an old fishing rod with a crankbait in the past.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever hooked while fishing?

A couple buddies and I went on a fishing trip a couple years back for a few days and nights of hardcore fishing in the rain and wind.

One buddy caught a 9 iron

One buddy caught a new jar of powerbait

I caught some sort of muscle

.... that is all we caught   :-/

a work boot, and also in a tournament  me and my partner were flippin and i felt the classic tap. i set the hook , i instantly got bulldogged to strait bottom, my partner runs for the net, what came to surface was a 6 foot gator, with a my baby brush hog, for a second i thought i had big bass for sure .. awww its a gator. not really weird to catch a gator, but weird to catch one flippin.it was pretty stained up water and we never knew it was just a few feet from the boat.

I caught a Quantam rod and reel combo complete with crankbait last weekend.  I gave it a good cleanup/lube and put it in the boat.  Hopefully, that will keep the monkey at bay for a few more days.

Caught a seagull in mid air casting a Mirro Lure. Fought it down from the sky. That was one PO"D bird, a real bear to unhook!!!

sunfish with a snake on the end of it..scared the crap out of me when i was little..cut the line immediately lol

I was catfishing in a small river, and reeled in a drum symbol.

cymbal

a fish shaped rock, no joke ;D

Wierdest thing was a baby gator, hit a Pop R. I guess in the southern states it could happen, but in NY probably not so often. Someone must have had it as a pet and it got too big so they released it in the lake. I wanted to net it, my partner wouldn't let me.

a fledgling mallard.we played with it in the boat and it ate all the bait! they sure do like crawfish dinner! ;D

i caught a rod and reel combo before, a snake, a rattle bait that my buddy lost at the begining of a fishing trip, a shirt, lots of random stuff lol.... usually get it when diging the bottom with a crank

I;ve caught a sock with a catfish in it

A lawn chair, a spool of line, a branch with an old crankbait stuck to it

A Coleman lantern that was still lit...

okay, just kidding about it still being lit  ;)

a dnr ranger. he was behind me while i was casting. luckily nothing serious and he was cool about it haha

Caught a extreme rod and a ol' green curado from where my dad had lost it a year earlier.  He cleaned it up and it worked great, although the cork was ate up.  He then was stripper fishing at night and lost it again!!!!

By far the most freaky thing I've caught is a wolf eel.  It's also the one I feel the worst about because after learning more about them, they're incredibly misunderstood critters.

I have caught somebody's make up kit using a jig. Somebody was doing more than fishing on the lake.

There's a pond at a local college I fish and I've caught gloves, t shirts, line with a sunny hooked on it(I released the sunny) and even an orange work cone.

1. a duck while fishing for trout in Arizona;

2. a seagull that grabbed my surface bait right off the water, when I was looking the other way for a brief moment...I heard the spash and my line got tight, so naturally I set the hook without even glancing in the direction of the strike! Received several nasty bites from the gull trying to retrieve my bait.;

3. a life jacket off a boat that kept buzzing us while we were fishing from shore;

4. a 13.5" red oscar while flyfishing for gills...unusual for a NW Indiana lake...one week later I caught a pirhauna in the same lake;

and saving the best for last:

5. I saw a guy waddling like a duck in a ditch with chest-highs on, he said he left his rod on the bank and went back to his car for something when he returned it was gone...he left after waddling around kicking the bottom for 30 minutes in frustration...5 minutes later, a good ways down the ditch I snag someone's line...bring in his rod/reel and still on the line was a 10 lb. northern pike! I caught him just in time to return his rod/reel/ and yes, even the fish...he was delighted to have it all.

Bullfrog that attacked my SK Rage Toad.

Plastic lawn chair.

Cheap rod/reel combo that was beyond repair.

Metal minnow bucket that felt like the biggest fish ever - kept diving everytime I'd reel it up.  :'(
