  1. I like to fish braid on my crankbait rod. In doing this, due to water clarity, I will use a fluro leader about 3-4 feet long. I tie a uni-to-uni knot. My problem is after making cast after cast, with the knot banging on my last rod eye, the knot gets beat up and eventually I throw off a crankbait. Does anyone else experience this and does anyone have a solution other than retying about every 30 minutes? :-/
  2. What is your favorite buzzbait brand, color, and size?
  3. Thanks for the reply. You are right, it will sling a bait a mile.
  4. I have recently purchased a BPS pro qualifier limited edition. This is the blue/purple reel. My question is this, does it have centrifugal pins to adjust, and if so how do you get to them? :-?
  5. The fish you see in my avatar was caught on the same rig. 65 lb braid, and 12 lb fluro leader. This fish weighed 8.4 lbs. I also caught an 8.12 about 10 minutes later. Great setup.
  6. I like your setup. I have fished a c-rig with all mono, all fluro, all braid, and braid with mono or fluro leader. The feel and hookset on the braid with fluro leader is unbeatable, and the fluro leader helps with finicky fish. The only thing I may change is go down to 12-15 lb fluro leader.
  7. I am in north central Alabama and I am considering joining a club. Are there any good clubs represented on this forum that would consider a new member? I would like to be a part of a club that has a goal to further the great sport of bass fishing and does not mind helping out the less experienced, like myself. Thanks ahead of time.
  8. Green Hornet, I like your clubs approach and attitude toward fishing. IMHO clubs should be to further the great sport of bass fishing. If a club does not allow guests and tries to hoard any new fishing info, then what is the purpose of the club? I am in north central Alabama and I am considering joining a club. Are there any good clubs represented on this forum that would consider a new member? Thanks ahead of time.
  9. Ok, I can catch fish from mid Feb. until end of Oct., but when the water drops below 50 degrees I start smelling like a skunk. I went out today, went to Guntersville. Water temp was between 42 and 46 degrees. I started on a shallow wind blown flat throwing a spinner bait and a trap. (no good). Then, I moved to a wind blown rip-rap bank dropping into about 15 ft of water. I threw a spinner bait, crank bait, jig, and texas rigged worm. (no good). I moved to a transition bank and continued throwing same lures. (no good). Next I moved out to a protected rip-rap bank with a creek channel. Water started at 20 feet and gradually got to 8 feet. I threw a jerk bait, spinner bait, crank bait, jig and worm. (no good). I am out of ideas. I read articles, watch videos and tv shows. I try all the things that should be working, but I can't get bit. Are any of you guys/girls willing to offer ideas? I am getting frustrated. Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

  12. I hear a lot of people knocking the Revo reels. Most of the negative comments include going to a Shimano reel. So, I decided to try them both. I purchased a Shimano comparable to the Revo and put them both on my boat deck. The Shimano is a good reel, and I still use it at times, but, in my personal opinion, the Revo is the ultimate reel on the market today. I know everyone has their own opinion, and others will choose the Shimano, but for me I will stay with my Revos. I now have 6 in SX and STX, they all perform day in and day out.
  13. Turn the mag all the way off. Tie on a bullet weight or something with no wind resistance. Adjust the cast control (right side knob) to allow the weight to slowly drop if you slightly shake the rod tip. Now go out and cast. This gives you a good starting point. I agree with other posts. The reel is one of the best you can buy. I have every Revo model made. Once you learn their character, you won't have anything else.
  14. Revo ALL the way. Day in, day out, big fish capable, smooth.
  15. Make sure you don't set the hook on the visual explosion, but wait until you feel the weight of the fish. If this does not help, try using a trailer hook.
  16. Fake or not, you can still learn from watching their techniques.
  17. Presentation is SUPER important. Back during the spring my wife and I were fishing. She was fishing a soft plastic blk/blu frog and I was fishing a grn pmpkin worm, both on c-rig. She was catching 5 fish to my 1 and hers were all nice keepers, while mine were short fish. I immediately switched to the same frog and color as her. There was no change in the catch ratio. Getting frustrated I sat and watched to see what she was doing different. My first thought was line size difference. No good. The difference was she was fishing the bait on a long fast pull of the rod. I was fishing more of a slow drag across the bottom. She would cast and retrieve 2 1/2 times to my 1. I started to fish my bait faster and I immediately started to get bit. Then I switched back to my grn pmpkin worm and fished it fast and I kept catching fish. Presentation is the Real Deal!
  18. Gamakatsu 3/0 to 5/0 depending on the bait I am flipping.
  19. I purchased a pair at Christmas. To me, they are no better quality than Berkley or Strike King from Wal Mart. I have recently got a pair of WileyX. They are awesome. They have the clearest, brightest lens I've ever seen.
  20. Put the creature bait on a c-rig with an 18 to 24 inch leader and a 1/2 oz weight. Drag it around on the bottom in about 4 to 6 ft of water in spawning flats. Make sure you pull to the side when working the bait and also set the hook to the side. We caught 33 fish this way this past wknd. The best fish was 9+ lbs. Our best 5 was 25+ lbs. Good luck.
  21. Crankbait rods MAKE the setup. I used to use an ALL Star. I would typically land about 3 out of 5 fish. I purchased a Quantam KVD Tour crankbait rod. I now land 9 out of 10 fish. These rods are still only approx $150. More money won't land any more fish.
  22. What is wrong with white? It's not like most boats on the water aren't 20ft long x 8ft wide and have a WHITE hull. Don't know? Could be? What if? Nah!!!
  23. My wife and I were at the Classic in Feb. At the expo we got a sample pack of Big Bite Baits soft plastics. We have caught fish on everything. My wife has already go 2 fish over 5lbs on the fighting frog, I like it, but my favorite is the kreit tail worm.
  24. I caught a Quantam rod and reel combo complete with crankbait last weekend. I gave it a good cleanup/lube and put it in the boat. Hopefully, that will keep the monkey at bay for a few more days.
  25. I purchased about $50 worth of products from them. Very professional experience. I was impressed with their communication with me and the promptness of delivery. I had a terrific experience with them, and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
