  1. I need a new baitcaster and rod. Looking to spend no more that $250, what are my choices? My old one was a Quantum set up that was 18 years old. I have no preferences in brand but, BPS have a few that catch my eye. I also saw in Bassmasters magazine, they did a article on rods under $70. This would give me more to spend on a better reel. I mainly use crankbaits and worms if that helps. Thanks for your help, Scott.
  2. My name is Scott Watkins. I'm 38 and live in Oxford. I work at the University of Mississippi where I'm a machinist in the Physics Dept. This type of work has been my career and I love what I do. We have a full CNC shop at our disposal and all of the software to run it. My hobbies include motorcycles, mountain biking, karate and kobudo (Isshin-ryu), and hand guns (certified GLOCK armorer). I recently took up bass fishing again. It almost got me kicked out of school because I fished more than I attended class. I fished in north east MS on the Tenn-Tom, Picwick, Bay Springs and coountless water shed lakes. So, I got my trusty Quantum that has reeled in tons of fish and started fishing in my small pond. The reel is 18 yrs. old but it would backlash for no reason. I should have respected the age of it but, in a fit of rage, I got ticked and threw it into the woods. After a few days of cooling off and depressurization, I thought I'd look for it. Now I can't find it so I'm buying something else sooner than I had planned. Anyhow.... This is me. If any of you guys are around Oxford, give me a shout, I promise that I will act right. My fit has taught me alot and I won't do it again. I'm gonna start another thread on what rod and reel I need. Then I can fish. Scott.
