  1. The Canon A560 is long discontinued. I like mine a lot except for the fact that it was made before they were putting Image Stabilization (IS) on everything. It's very hard for me to get sharp images. Make sure you get something with IS.

I wouldn't call myself a "fan", but I have 30 years of experience with them and might be able to answer a question or offer an opinion if that's what you had in mind.
  3. Never used that line and you didn't mention what knot you use. I can say that the Palomar with 15# Power Pro has never broken on me.
  4. I agree that it was more likely the GM (Polian) who made the decision. However, until this Jets game, nobody but Manning attempted a pass. They had a lot of close games that he needed to stay in, but why didn't they look at their other QBs and try some other stuff in the blowouts they had?
  5. I certainly can't think of one. You always want balanced tackle, but brands aren't part of that equation. Unless there's something I'm missing, the important factors are line size, type and weight of lures used, balance and other factors not related to brand.
  6. I agree with using 50-75 yards of the line you actually fish with. After all, you'll probably want to respool once you've lost 20 yards or so, so why throw away more line than necessary?
  7. I have one MH spinning rod in the Pro Select series that's about three years old. I've been very pleased and wouldn't hesitate to buy another if the need arises.
  8. I saw an ad for the Yuki and I'm sure it'll catch bass since I never saw a hunk of plastic that didn't. Will it bring something new to the table which will increase our collective success? I seriously doubt it.
  9. Just keep in mind that, in general, a spinnerbait is a subsurface lure and a buzzbait is a topwater, thus they're two different things despite some physical similarities..
  10. Sure, why not, he's an improvement over what you've got now. There were those who thought he was a better coach after he was no longer a GM.
  11. "Are bigger fish really better?" Not necessarily. I've caught many fish of various species that fought much better than bigger individuals. I remember a 6# walleye that came in like dead weight while 3#ers from the same water fought vigorously. Nevertheless, many, if not most of us, are looking to catch as big fish as we can.
  12. I'd make sure I got something that doesn't rust. I'd also use about the same size rings that you're replacing. I think #4 is probably the most common size.
  13. You didn't mention what type of boots you presently use. However, Crestliner (above post) has the right idea. The pac-type boot with removable liner is the warmest boot style for stationary activities.
  14. I've used Chatterbaits, Booyah Boogee Baits and Gambler Swim Blades. There are differences in lure action and quality of components, but I've been unable to detect any difference in the number of strikes that they attract.
  15. I've used 4" and 3.5" Zoom tubes and both work well, although there was nothing I saw that said they were any better or worse than other brands.
  16. Not outside of Durham, North Carolina. ;D
  17. Try a search and you'll find plenty of information. Here's one reliable source: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/plantar-fasciitis/DS00508
  18. These were taken a year ago at a house whose decorations were highly publicized and which many people visited. The owners had been doing it for a number of years and announced that 2008 would be the last year, although I don't know if they changed their minds. http://picasaweb.google.com/Marty915/XmasLights2008?authkey=Gv1sRgCOSc1ZDlzYX20QE&feat=directlink
  19. I don't know what it does to the fish, but I've often caught multiple fish from the same location in shallow water. There's an old guideline that you should never leave biting fish and I'd recommend you stay where you are until a lack of activity tells you to move.
  20. Without getting into specific brands of reels or lines, the generality is that, all other things being equal, relatively thin line on a relatively large spool will result in longer casts.
  21. Make sure whatever you get offers full UV protection from both A and B rays. No sunglasses can help you see better in murky water, though.

I'll echo what Raul said and add that I'll use them anytime the water's warm enough, perhaps low to mid-50s. I've also caught loads of fish on sunny afternoons, so I have confidence in my topwaters at any time. They don't always work, but I find it's always worth it to at least try them.
  23. Spawning King Salmon. Ugly buggers: There's an old classic mudshark story on the BFHP, but it's not about a salmon. ;D another site
  24. If your price limit is less than $20, your choices are limited. I don't know if there are any digitals for less than $20, so you might need to get an inexpensive spring scale, which may or may not suit your needs. If you decide to spend the $20-30 on a digital, it's still a crapshoot. You could get a very accurate one or one that's not so accurate, but you can always return it if bought from a good retailer. Regardless, whatever you do, make sure you test it for accuracy a few times each year. I use a 50# Berkley. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_57950____SearchResults
  25. I have fished in pickerel waters for 40 years, but never targeted them or fished in the winter. From spring through fall in these waters they could be caught from any spot where a bass might be caught and vice versa. They also will readily hit any lure you own, from topwaters to bottom crawlers and everything in between. Good luck. They can be a pain in the butt, especially when biting off lures, but they're fun to catch and fight better than largemouth in my opinion. I have no idea as to their winter behavior.
