making a bass fishing tackle box kit ?
I would also suggest a jitterbug He will like the excitement of it coming across the water and be really excited when a fish slams it. Nice thing they will catch bluegills as well as monster bass.

New Guy Needs ROD HELP
I can def throw in about the berkley lightning rod I have the 6' MH 1 pc and its really a nice rod. Very light too I was well impressed with this 30$ rod from wall mart. I started out with a berkley cherrywood which was 20$ or so and hated it so stepped it up to the lightning. Def wouldnt hesitate to buy another one if needed. I was recently in search for a nice spinning combo and I have the lightning paired with a Okuma Avenger 30a spinning. The reel was 40$ and is very smooth and really a nice pc. A guy at work fishes really high end steez and a few other over 300$ reels and said he really liked the Okuma himself for the money. When I bought it I said to the store clerk I wanted something around the 40-60$ reel price range he handed me the avenger and said price for performace outweighs anything up to about 65-70$. So i went with it and def happy as can be.

Newbie makes first purchase!
Or break your rod. Or cut your hand. True... Yank on it like an animal to a certain extent haha. Theres always that point of near breakage of the rod that I just cut it but most times I just rip out limbs of trees or whatever there may be.

Sour Grape
I have to ask what the heck is this academy place? Is it like a bass pro shops of the sort. Never heard of it and the name keeps popping up all the time.

Snap swivels.
I use them anytime I am or know I will be using lures of anysort like top waters or spinner baits. Usually I throw a lure for a bit and switch it up. However with my plastics I always tie my hook direct. I have pulled in way too many fish out of the much or wherever and had the swivel pull apart.

Sour Grape
*** has sour grape color. I know 4" trick sticks do and im sure in a few other of their baits.

Sebago lake Help
I dont know if either of you have fished sabego but its full of trout and salmon. You have to fish really deep with spoons and such. A friend of mine has had a camp up there since 92' his father fishes all the time a lot of the time comes back skunked but everyone around there says its a trout and salmon lake. He has caught a bunch of 20+ inch Trout and salmon. I was just up there last weekend and its a beautiful lake to be on for sure. def hit up the sandbar by the river and going down the river through the locks to brandy pond and long pond is a nice ride. Good Luck.

Help!
Go get some Senko or trick sticks 4" watermellon, pumpkinseed, black, junebug all good colors. Get some 3/0 - 4/0 hooks and your good. Other good suggestions that I have had good luck with are the berkley gulp turtle back tail worms. I usually get junebug color and they do really well. If you are on a budget don't waist money on lures buy plastics there more versatle.

what size hook
modified for bigger hooks. I have been mainly using Gamy 3/0 EWG's and just picked up the same only superline which seem thicker. For those 10" power worms I guess im going to have to get a pack of bigger ones however.
-
what size hook
I know this may have been gone over before but wondering what the vast majority of people use for hook size. Using Gamakatsu EWG's. Mainly fishing 4"-5" senko's as well as some long 10" and 7" powerworms.

3/O EWG Hooks 6 For $9.99! Are They Serious!
Heck if you think about it all a hook is a piece of metal bent and a small pc at that. Thats rediculous price. Ill still to my EWG's at 3.88$ wally world 3/0 for a 5 pack. Heck I can get 15 hooks for the price of these and have the same catch ratio.

Okuma Reflexions
My gf picked up the 5'6 MH reflexions and I thought it felt really nice. Spinning rod. However supposivly she casted it out and thought the end came disconnected only to find out the rod actually snapped. She only fished it for maybe 3 days and she was pretty careful with it. So im interested in seeing how you make out. I got myself a lightning rod 6' spinning for my outfit and I love it. Really light weight and sensitive and ton of backbone. MH ofcoarse.

Anyone have any luck in SOUTHERN NH yet?
question for you guys. A friend has a nice 13' row boat with a 15hp motor on it. Can a gas motor be allowed in Mill pond?

Anyone have any luck in SOUTHERN NH yet?
Sounds like you guys are killing em. Nice bass UNH. If ever one of you guys wanted to meet up and fish a little let me know. I would be really interested in picking a few of your brains on different things and learning off of ya.

braided line
I was using powerpro 50# for a long time this year and after a while of use the line seemed to dig in a lot making casts stop 3/4 way and so on. I then tried 50# Stren Sonic Braid and I can tell you honestly I can cast a lot further on that then the pp and its smoother overall nicer. I am however using 20# PP on my spinning outfit currently but only because they didn't have the stren in stock that day.

Who's fishing Pink??
love it haha def a true statement..... I have come to love the smoke pepper color from ***. Its more of a darker pink color and the fish absolutly love them. My buddes go to worm is a bright pink and he does very well.

Zebco 33 vs Curado
Hey another point the zebco can be fished by even a 4yr old....

Newbie makes first purchase!
Go 50# braid. I switched this year to all braid and absolutly love it. Casts really nice, not much if any line twist and nice thing about it. If you get caught up in anything yank on it like an animal and 9 out of 10 times you will get your lure back.

Using Braid with Berkley Amp?
question I just picked up a berkley lightning rod and looking at the specs the guides are chrome plated SS. I use 20# pp braid on this setup.

best baitcasting reel??
you can wait and get a more quality one however I have been pretty happy with my wally world pinnacle's that I picked up. I mainly picked them up to get into baitcasters and eventually like next season buy a high end one but these things work really well and cast really nice. I know I am probably going to get hammered for saying all of this but ive been really happy. The platinum plus is only 40$ too, worth a try.

New reel
I just picked up an Okuma Avenger 30 series spinning reel actually bought two of them and really like them alot. The Gentleman said for around the 40-50$ price range you can't beat them. Very smooth, nice drag and I have already caught tons of fish on it and it handled them really well. Try out Okuma they have a lot of models around that price range.

Before Daylight Tackle
Heddon tiny torpedo all the way. I def think these are the absolute best topwater. Although I def want to pick up a cavitron buzzbait to try out I hear they are simply amazing. But I have personally tried jitterbugs, poppers and such then switched to the torpedo and started killing em every time it hit the water and outfished the other baits hands down with it.

Hook slid off???
Ill second the motion of only using a reg palmer knot. I never tie anything else and heck even with 50# braid when i get caught in a tree I rip branches off. Might bend my hook but never had a tie come loose or snap on me. Must have been something weird you did when you tied it on.

Organizing Soft baits
I ended up going to wall mart and got a large plano utility box that even has a handle on it. Holds about 80% of my soft plastics which is plenty for a day of fishing heck even a week and it keeps them organized neatly by color and so on.
