  1. Def no issues in how you fish I do the exact same. For some reason cranking a spinning rod holding the rod in my right hand with reeling on the left and then on baitcaster I cast with my right hand and then swap hands and retrieve with the right.
  2. Ya never had any luck at beaverlake. Been out a few times on the merrimack in a boat with no luck, as well as going under the bridge over by canal st that crosses into hudson with no luck. Friends of mine are always carp fishing down there. I guess its a lot of fun but man are they just uggggggly fish.
  3. I will second clark on the Berkley lightning rod from wally world. Its really a great rod. I also tried the quantum torsion rod as well which was a decent rod but the lightning rod def stands out. Grab one of those and some nice 50# sonic braid and you will have a mint setup.
  4. I just think it would be rediculous to get a nice hookset with something so light. Heck I picked up a berkley cherrywood M 6'6" and thought it was too light and hooksets were not as fast. Swapped over to 6' lightning rod MH and loving life.
  5. Ya so far it is really smooth and it casts beautifully with the 20# PP. The gf has the same reel and I strung her up with 8# spiderwire and hers casts really nice as well, still not as good as mine with the PP.
  6. Hey guys just want to know what you guys think. Went out to a local shop and picked up the avenger AV30A paired at first with a berkley cherrywood M 6'6" tho felt the rod was horrible so upgraded that to a lightning rod 6' MH. So far Im loving this setup. Have it strung with 20# PP. The guy there told me for about 40-50$ price range the avenger was the way to go. Any of you guys used these reels?
  7. Hmm you see a fish which is in the foreground a monster at that and you take the time to wonder where his pants are? Its almost like the picture where theres a smoking hot chick in the foreground in a bikini and theres something totally weird in the way background and it states if you see the background image then you are totally .... (family site) but you get the idea.
  8. Nice fishing everyone. Nashua - Ur a lucky one heck everytime I fish the merrimack I get skunked. Got out to a few spots over the weekend. Beaver lake, got skunked. Caught a pickeral decent size on a senko over at hood pond in derry and caught a bunch of fish at my little spot. The gf caught a few nice 1lbers as well. heres a few pics.
  9. Now that is just plain sexy. I have to def agree and glad you at least will stick up for pinnacle. I have been very happy with them to the point I would def look into buying that one for my next reel. Just bought a spinning combo and already have 2 pinnacles so im good for now haha.
  10. I def agree with the abouve posts and where you are just starting to build your collection as I am. Try targeting a few key areas such as heavy worms, frogs, heavy cover fishing. To light finess stuff and get the apropriate action that way. A lot of rods will work really well for a few different key areas.
  11. Hows this I bought the platinum plus from wallmart loved it went back and got a solene and absolutly love that one too. I havent had one problem with either and am really rough on my equipment trust me. They cast great and very smooth retrieve. I say go for it trust me you wont be disapointed. as for the other guy stating that he broke the antireverse what the heck were u doing. ? I have run these since spring time ripping hogs out of deep grass and junk running every lure known and they hold up.
  12. Got out yesterday up to massabesic. first stop was wildlife taxadermy to get a okuma avenger reel and berkley cherrywood rod. After gettings useto the combo I really like the overall setup, strung up with pp 20#. Got totally skunked up there just 1 sunny after I got bored and decided to throw a real worm out there. Gf caught 1 nice probably 1.5-2#er. I was throwing senko's of all colors and jitterbug at night and just couldn't get a nibble. All in all it was a fun day in the sun.
  13. Not to hijack anything but what features are you talking about? I am gonig to be picking up a spinning outfit most likely tommarow and looking at all the differences and what not. If the lower priced shimano's are a real steal now and are better bang for the buck than the abu or pfluegur gets me thinking.
  14. What Cardinal reel did you buy. the 35$ one at wally world?
  15. Not on this one. I have not been following this thread, but will be editing it shortly. If your comment or post has been removed, this is your notice. 16. Ya as for the mojo I have the 6'6 M. So i guess i got the lighter one of em all. RoadWarrier I hear what your saying. A lot of times its just her handling the rods in and out of vehicles, shes rather careless with all of her stuff. Thats why I was just hoping to get something indestructable haha. Perhaps UglyStick is the way to go. She has been fishing with me all year and does pretty well. She kinda rather just fish her own way and gets mad at me giving her instructions. However when I do and she takes them in and hooks into something shes like ahhhhh. Women can't live with em, def can't live without em.
  17. I don't know if you have used the trick stix im guessing ur talking about ***. But I will tell you I absolutly love them and won't buy another GYM senko unless in a pinch. They are soo much tougher. U can litteratly fish all day on 1 or 2 worms where after about 30 or so casts with a GYM they fall apart or after a few fish. I useto go through about a pack of those every couple days or if the fishing is good 1 pack a day. With these Ill be suprised to go through a pack every week. As well as their cheap. Order the dents and dings bag too I got a ton of trick sticks that are good in their. x2 only will buy gym if absolutley have to, *** is the way to go! -matt- As far as colors if you happened to get or are ordering get the smoke pepper. There almost like a pink tint to them and I have had the best luck in the past week or so on these. Been throwing pumpkinseed as well but the smoke pepper really stand out. Just an FYI
  18. I already have 1 mojo. I love it. contrary to what everyone else says I also found it interesting this thing only weighs 3.7oz which is a heck of a lot lighter than most rods around this range. However im all set getting another one bc it comes down to this. Me and the gf work at the same place. I have my truck with tackle and rods she has her bike so her rods are at her house. She says hun can i use one of urs I say why not have at it. After breaking 4 rods this yr to stupididy and misuse would you give her a mojo?
  19. The pathfinders are a nice vehicle. The expeditions are nice parents owned one for 6 yrs however gas is horrible. They went to an F-150 extended cab. Im 5'9 and fit very comfortably in the back and has tons of power and room for everything you would need. GM's do suck as far as styling goes I will def agree. Hell Ford was just practically giving away F-150;s. You can probably grab a brand new STX 4x4 for around 16-17 with good options. Or a used one with low miles for 15 or so with more options.
  20. I don't know if you have used the trick stix im guessing ur talking about ***. But I will tell you I absolutly love them and won't buy another GYM senko unless in a pinch. 21. Hmm does that make any sence? Sell both of your rods which I assume you have been happy with for some time bc a pro angler decides to cut ties with a sponsorship... hmmm
  22. Ill second that notion. Im thinking on picking up the gf one of these combos or at least the reel. She will go nuts over a pink reel, common haha.
  23. You would probably pick up baitcaster within a few days. Go with a revo sx reel http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_100535_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 And I would say the st Croix avid or mojo bass in M or MH. 6'6"
  24. well you are def looking in the right place. I too am just starting to get into buying good quality gear. I chose the mojo bass casting rod. 90$ 6'6" seems to be a nice compromise between casting and acurasy. It is actually the topwater / swimbait rod however mostly I have been throwing senko's with it and I really love it. Its got plenty of backbone to haul hawgs out of deep pads and junk, really light weight and nice feel. Its a medium fast action which I find perfect. I would say if you really have the oomph in you to learn to use a baitcaster you will love it. I switched to baitcaster this year and absolutly love them. At the start you will get frustrated and what not but thats half the battle but once you get into them I feel they are more accurate and much more control over the typical spinning gear. Reel wise the shimano's are really nice and the abu garcia revo's are nice reels as well. Im currently using a 50$ pinnacle solone that I bought at walmart and I love it. Rod was my first decent purchase and eventually I will drop 100-150 on a nice reel to match but for now the pinnacle is doing just fine, very smooth, really nice casting and alot of the nice features that come in higher priced reels. Its worth checking out just in case you don't like the baitcasters. Im also running Stren sonic braid 50# and really love this line. Very tough, nice and quiet and casts a mile. You are going to get a lot of people going in every direction. I would honestly say that any rod abouve 100$ range you are going to love and the other guys opinions on reels with the shimano's and abu's are where you want to be if you got the coin.
  25. ive been once since that night i caught one on the torpedo. i can see the fish jumping but they never seem interested in what im throwing. All I throw is senko's... last night was there from 5 - 9 and caught easily high teens. 1 was a nice 3.5#er... gotta wait till the gf gets the picture to me. just try throwing senko's darker colors like the pumpkins and watermellons with black flake. Last night was all about the watermellon. By any chance do you drive a black jeep? Someone came back there when we were fishing saw my truck and her bike and turned around. If it was you, dont be scarrrreeeddd come join haha. Well provided you see a red xterra that is.
