poppers is great..if you go pick it up also grab some worm or tube rattles and stuff some of them in the popper....works great!!!!! +1 Got a noticeable increase in strikes on my poppers when I added rattles.
  3. They work well. Better then lead not as good as tungsteon.
  4. PBJ is killer as is green pumpkin with copper to immigate crappie. Watermelon red is also good and blue gill / perch colors
  5. Not trying to hijack but to answer your question. I can speak only for lake Michigan in saying yes there are LM. Not many target LM in lake Michigan however because well... why target them when your sitting on an outstanding smally fishery. And yes this will likely be moved to location section Looks like OP deleted.
  6. They are two different applications that have benefits in different instances... hard to compare them. If I could throw only one, it would be a jig.
  7. I applied the U-40 cork sealant to most of my rods, now my questions is this: Stains still appearing on the palm side of my cork, when I was it off should I be reapplying the U-40? I know it says 1 application is all your need to seal it, but curious if washing off the grime marks brings the sealant off as well?
  8. Good call on the Powell
  9. Targeting the female angler market perhaps?
  10. Owner 3/O, 4/O and 5/O Wide Gap Plus hooks. Tru-Tung worm weights, GamakatsuWeedless Finesse Wide Gap Hook in 4/O, Owner TwistLOCK Open Gap Hooks 3/O and 5/O (worms / creature baits), beads, rattles. Should give you a good start.
  11. Words are just that in business, words. : Kudos to them for standing behind their product and moving forward though. At least they admit making a mistake that cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

As stated above, my favorites / preferences: Line: 30-65# fireline braid (area/vegitation dependent) Frogs: Zoom Horny Toads in White/Black/Black blue legs and the discontinued Chartreuse that I am now forced to make home made by dipping the white ones in chartreuse JJ's Magic.

Midnight walker (black), Albino (white), Natural Green and Black Putty are my top 4 producing hollow belly spro BE 65 colors. I throw 50# braid minimum when frogging, that is only because the pads and veg are not as thick in my area as some others. Some places I spool 65# braid when going to fish there. Now braid has a smaller diameter than its equivalent in mono just fyi encase you didn't know that. I have a friend who throws frogs with 15# Fluro and 30# braid on spinning setups. Just dont be upset if you get broken off. I wouldn't throw spro's on that set up... to expensive but if I had to, throwing zoom horny toads wouldn't be bad. I actually prefer horny toads to spro, they are my go to frog bait, and if you get broken off your not out a $10 bait rather 1 out of a 5 pack of $3.25.

Pretty sure on the Rage Shad the recommended hook size is 4/O - 6/O weighted or unweighted superline hooks. I use a 5/O weightless owner hook when running it as a top water, never had a problem with it... Only thing I can think of is your pulling the bait away from it when it breaks the surface or you have some aggressive panfish in the area. I went out the other night and actually had my frogs and rage shad hit several times by gills and crappie.
  15. IMO I would not go with the Mojo bass because they tend to lack sensitivity that is a necessity in a good flipping stick. I would not go with a carrot stick either due to personal reasons. I have never handled an All Star. I would recommend a Powell MAX Flipping Rod 7'6" Mag-Hvy 766 it runs about $170 but you can find it cheaper about 140-150 (and *** will honor that lower price) or look for a used one. Powell has a life time warranty and makes an amazing rod, great sensitivity and IMO this is one of the best flipping sticks on the market. Now I personally like a slightly shorter rod for pitching than flipping, thats a personal preference though and I know people who do both with the same rod. I do a lot more pitching than flipping so I went with a 7'1 rod (Kistler Argon Pitch N' Flip) that runs about $200 but if you can wait a bit to afford it, that is without a doubt one of the nicest rods I have ever fished. Your other option is the Crucial Flipping Cast Rod 7'6" Heavy, I have heard amazing things about this rod, but have never personally handled one. It will run about $180. Out of all of these I would recommend the Powell due to your price range vs a quality stand point. Hope this helps somewhat.
  16. I fish frogs and top water a lot but this was like a homeless man going after a xmas ham. hahahahahahahaha I almost fell out of the boat once, I was tossing a frog in pockets in some slop and was reeling in, started to lift the frog out of the water about a ft from the boat with a big ol' musky jumped up, drilled it fell back down and broke me off.
  17. Great just what we need here another FIB.... j/k Welcome bud!

    Welcome from the north woods!
  19. Welcome!
  20. voted chartreuse... but black watermelon green pumpkin junebug white chartreuse Those are the main colors I use, flecks, speckles, stars, flakes, cakes, jakes and anything else people call all the shiny stuff inside can come in any color with those. Red and copper seem to be the main 2 I use.
  21. I have the combined box and really dont like it. The different size spinner baits overlap and have trouble snapping in. It's not a BAD box, but I know there is something better.
  22. Most definitely a black crappie. Good fish to have fillets of. On occasion we will go out and catch a limit of gills and crappie and perch makes for a good fish fry.
  23. +1 on bic lighter... works well in a pinch. I even repair my knock offs. I throw them all into a seperate pouch and once it gets full I'll spend 10 minutes repairing them all. Saves money.
