  1. haha I thought this same thing... the difference in weight equates to: you will put out roughly 25# of energy more with the STX over 1000 casts. If thats an issue, there are bigger problems to be debating
  2. a few possibilities.. 1) Rapala scales can be set for KG or LB... make sure its set for LB. 2) Is the line actually breaking somewhere or at the knot you tied? 3) If 1 is set for LB and 2 is snapping in the middle.. how old is the line? 4) Have you left it in your vehicle at all or has it been properly stored? 5) if all of the above are in your favor... return it.
  3. oh thats is rich hahaha!
  4. Worked at a golf course long time ago, I got a call one day asking: Do you have a driving range? Sure do How much for a bucket of balls? What size would you like sir? The biggest ones you've got, my wife is almost blind. :-? Also had a guy call up once and ask if we could "rig" the balls we put into the bucket at a driving range because he was trying to sell the set of clubs and wanted them to go farther..
  5. Great fish! Can't wait to see the pictures!
  6. wait what... how did Bikini girl not win?! Glad we could help and good luck!
  7. I am planning to try one out once they are released barring negative reviews. No one can really say as of now unless they were privileged enough to attend ICAST.
  8. A good drag and a high speed retrieve for getting into the strike zone and getting back for the next flip once your out of it (7.x:1) Revo STX
  9. Good luck to you! I caught my PB smallie this year, weighing in a 4.1# fought like a 6#er. Was a blast, it was near a dam/loch system. I noticed a trend, the current from the dam was a slow / steady current but the loch only opened once in awhile and created a fast current when it opened. Everytime it would get ready to opene I would toss my tube right infront of it and let the water drag it. This was the ticket as the smallies were waiting right there for the baitfish getting caught in the current. We caught 2-3 every time that loch opened. Which was about once an hour or so... but they wouldn't touch the baits when it was closed.
  10. I'm not a swimbait expert but I have purchased the Spro BBZ-1's and well as a tru-tungsten and thrown them quite a bit as I try to build my confidence. The tru-tungsten after a few casts retreiving it over some structure the tail and fins had chipped. I was much more pleased with the BBZ-1 and have been successful with it. They didn't name their blue gill "Killer Gill" for no reason. As I am gaining confidence now with swimbaits I'm leaning towards picking up a bluegill and crappie from Mattlures.
  11. Bass Pro Shops Tourney Special You can usually find these used or even new around $50. For $50 this reel can not be beat. I have 2 of them, they are great reels.
  12. ok... you have to send an original sales recipt with the price circled... Guess I don't understand what there is to try... but good luck
  13. Yep this time of year I can catch them on topwaters in pads and along thick weedlines... drop shotting structure, bars and points etc produces well also (though its not my favorite way to fish). It is a rough time, you really need to target suspended fish in the thermocline, the reason this is tough for me is because there is no established thermocline yet (atleast as of the begining of August) in the lakes I fish, which is extremely odd for this time of year, but understandable with the cool summer we have been having. I have a friend who dives the lakes and he has been unable to find it at all, so I have been fishing weedlines in 15-20 fow. Seems to produce but it is always a mixed bag. Been catching more eyes than bass off the weedlines and deep structure.
  14. The Wiley X promotion is for reels $159 and up. The STX is on sale for 139.
  15. Enjoy the show Keep your rod tip low to or in the water will decrease jumping.
  16. Blasting watermelons, canteloupes and other pieces of fruit. Always a fun time ;D
  17. They are good glasses. You wont get them with the STX your buying though. Unless you changed your mind and are getting the premier
  18. I use these when I walleye fish mostly
  19. I have a remington 11-87 super mag, sportsman waterfowl version... not quite home defense gun but would do the trick in a pinch . I had originally looked at the Benelli's as that is what we used in the USMC and I liked them quite a bit, but I wanted something I could duck hunt with and am not to fond of semi auto which I thought was what the majority of Benelli's were. I prefer a pump action for duck hunting as it seems more sporty to me. Nice shotgun though, do you plan on using it for anything besides home defense?
  20. Not sure, but if I could fish any lake in the US on a guided tour, I would fish Amistad. That would give you both your wants... half in mexico half in the US. Stay on whichever side of the border you think is safest. Though I have been to Mexico several times and never had issues with safety, my only reservation is driving my vehicle across the border with insurance issues and such.

the top 2 are just getting pulled... the bottom 2 are getting cut out. Getting KO'ed for the procedure. Never been put under before, not to thrilled about it.

So Monday is my birthday, my wife had a fishing trip with a guide on Lake Michigan planned for me and a friend for a 10 hour trip. Well that was recently postponed until early September because... I have an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed... was the only day I could get off work / have it scheduled before fall semester starts. > Tentatively the best birthday I have ever had turned into one of the worst... Oh well, will make for a hell of a fun random day in early September... ;D
  23. Looking to invest in a half dozen or so of these, never used the LC Pointer, been mostly a Husky Jerk follower. Leaning towards the 100. This a good all around size? The 78 seems a bit short at only 3 inches and the 128 has a 15-20# test line recommendation, I would prefer to stay around 12# test on my jerkbait set up unless the 128 comes with higher recommendations? Just curious what you all think on these before I go and drop a good chunk.
  24. As I had stated in the other thread the only difference I could tell is the weight. The STX does have a better drag rating. As you have it listed here between the STX-HS and the Premier in my eyes it really comes down to: Do you want a 6.4:1 or a 7.1:1. If you don't care between the two, I'd get a second STX for the better drag, in my eyes drag > weight.
  25. Neat, I didn't realize the nova came in pump, I thought they only made them in semi auto for some reason.
