The first thing you need is a good map of your lake Look on it for a point you definitely know its location where the creek channel swings in toward the bank find the channel and that should give you an idea of what your looking for your depth finder does not read the top it reads the bottom depth and the gray line will tell you the type of bottom.Just remember what you see on the depth finder is behind you.Lowrances web page has a good tutoriall on setting them up

You probably need to lighten up your jig, depending on water clarity and tempature.Ifish a lot of clear lakes I use 1/4 oz jig and some lakes they wont hit it with plastic trailers and I use some kind of pork.You said you use it in 25 ft anything over 10 ft I use a texas rigged tube but dont peg the weight try flippin the tubes they work at times for me good luck

I fish a lot of tournaments and Minn Kota right now is the preferred trolling moter on most boats.They had a problem with the circut boards on the 24 volt 5 speed models but to my understanding they have corrected that problem.There were 7 Motor Guides fail during tournaments last year and 2 of them in our club are still having problems after being repaired
  13. You want to go to manual setting adjust grayline over where you know theres a road bed or a ramp until you see a double echoe of bottom there is an example in the instruction manual next adjust sesitivity till you start seeing surface clutter and turn fish id off

I have a 200 HO ficht and have had no problem with it except they fire so hot you have to check the spark plug gap every 40 hours but most people dont run 40 hours a year.The new E= techs are even better and if you buy before April 15 their extended warranty cant be beat 7 years Evinrude -Johnson on top for now

  19. Fish a tube rigged texas style I fished a lot of strip pits and they all had humps and sand bars,if you have a good depth finder set it up to find the thermocline and fish the drop offs at that depth

  21. Our weeknight tournaments just joined nbaa and from what I understand at the regional tournament this year the payouts with boats cash and drawings are suppose to be over 100 thousand this new to us this year so guess well see
  22. You answered your own question.I fish a few deep lakes in Tenn. every year and you got to look for the humps close to the creek channels,other areas I look for are tapered points,clay banks,and any kind of pea gravel or shale.
  23. I have a E-Trex Vista also. If your going to use it for waypoints for fishing make sure you enable the WASS feature
