Miami Canal Lures
Kristo, Why don't you PM me your address. I'll send you some lures which I KNOW catch bass in the Miami Canal. I've got more baits than I know what to do with, and it looks like you could use some. I have no time to fish anyway...my boat hasn't been in the water in over six weeks... The fish are there but they are veerrrrryy lethargic with this 90+ degree water. If you can sneak out after the afternoon rain or very early morning you might have a little better luck. If you are going out in the mid-day heat, you are probably going to need to slow it down. One of the items I am going to send you is a shakey head setup....I'll set the first one up for you....you will want to use it exactly like I have it setup and bring it back very slow on the retrieve. Most of the fish I catch on this hit it after a 4-5 second pause. If you don't get hit on this setup, move, cause the fish ain't there! I will send you a scrounger setup also...I've been having good luck lately, getting some reaction bites with it. A small spook works good in the Miami Canal, especially in the low light periods. Senkos will work there also...try some weightless T-rigged or wacky rigged. Sorry about you getting your stuff jacked....it's happened to me many times.

Stolen Gear.
Sorry to hear it, Clary. I've had some expensive fishing/golf equipment disappear over the years...it sucks. Hang in there.

Miami Canal Lures
Kristo, A shakey head jig with a small finesse worm usually works for me in the Miami Canal this time of year. You will want to work it PAINFULLY slow. Not sure what kind of line you area using, you will want to use a light (6 or 8lb) flouro line, if possible

Help For A Beginner!!!1
Hey Kristo, welcome! We have a good contingent of South Florida anglers on this forum. You are a little south of me, but there are some local parks a little north of you which have nice bass in them...CB Smith, Tree Top, Quietwaters, etc... Also, as mentioned before, check out Google Earth...I have found some out-of-the-way gems, just searching around a little bit. I haven't had the boat out in awhile (no time... ), but I am fortunate to have some pretty good bass ponds right behind my house. Baits that are working for me right now...spooks, worms, scroungers, traps. Senkos probably are killer right now, also.

How To Start A Niche Product Company In Fishing.
BassClary, I wish I had seen your post sooner. A couple points.... - Cutting carbon fiber is a very difficult and dangerous thing to do without the proper setup! I would not be cutting it in the garage with a dremel. Please use proper equipment and ventilation... - Patents. I have eleven patents. They certainly have their place in product development, but unless you have the deep pockets to file and defend an international patent, it may not be in your best financial interest to do so. If you think you might eventually want to file a patent on your idea, one thing you can do is file a preliminary disclosure. This is much cheaper than an actual filing and it sets the original date of the IP. It also allows you patent pending status, which may be advantageous. - Do a full cost analysis on your idea and add about 30% to that. This will give you some idea of your breakeven point, and the financial feasibility. - Of course, another way to bring a carbon fiber product to market would be to partner up with someone who has a little experience with this sort of thing (hint, hint). if you think your idea has merit, make sure to get a non-disclosure agreement signed before discussing your idea with them....yes, that includes myself. I would have no problem signing a non-disclosure before talking to you.

Fishing On Discovery/animal Planet Off The Hook: Extreme Catches Monday 9 Pm E.s.t.
Cool! I see the Bullet in the background too. I'm used to that view....it's the view I usually get when it's going past me at 80MPH!

Fishing On Discovery/animal Planet Off The Hook: Extreme Catches Monday 9:00 Pm E.s.t.
Me and my kids loved it. Captain Shane, very nice job in front of the camera! Eric Young is hilarious...I think my kids have a new favorite show. At the end of the show when Eric says "I gotta poop"...my kids just lost it. I went to the weigh in with my kids, but it doesn't look like I made it in any of the footage. Alot of nice footage of Rob's Bullet...I've been on that deck many times... You guys can see our handle pretty well on Shane's baitcaster....Check out the replay Saturday for the Hawg Handle in action!

fishhook, Yes, the Hawg Handle is universal (two basic mounting sizes to account for crankshaft diameter) and will fit virtually all baitcast reels. And, yes, the Hawg Handle DOES look good on a Lews...

Best Techniques For A Pcb Ten Pounder?
I used to walk my golf course ponds at night, bass fishing, but don't anymore. There's more to worry about in South Florida than just gators. I've stepped in a few fire ant mounds...definately not fun. I took a hit one night from a banana spider...I walked right into the web in the dark. I was sick for 2-3 days after. Water moccasins are stealthy enough during the day...at night all you can do is hope you don't run into one.

What Is Up With Florida Right Now?
I went out with Bruce (bocabasser) to Okeechobee yesterday. Really tough conditions...hot, bluebird skies. The fish are scattered and not extremely active which makes it pretty tough. But we caught our share of fish....we caught them on the ledges, in the grass, flipping, cranking rock humps way offshore, dragging worms in deep holes...We called it a day at noon, just too hot. But I enjoyed the trip. Bruce can find the fish, no doubt... I'm going to pass on Slims tourney, tomorrow, at Okeechobee. Just two busy right now. I'll do a little snook fishing on the beach with my son tomorrow morning.

Shhhhh.....you're giving away the 2013 business plan... Seriously though, there is something in the works pretty similiar to what you described. We are definately considering a special edition "Calcutta" version which has gold anodized nut retainer, gold screw and gold accents on the cork knob carriers. Keep the good ideas coming...

Hawgtech - New Sponsor
Doug, No, the 25g weight does not include the mounting hardware. The nut/screw/retainer should be about a wash. I will check it and get back to you....

We think we're competitively priced at $79. The only other handle out there that I would consider a serious competitor is the ZPI handle...and that is selling for $149, last time I checked. ZPI makes a nice product....we ordered one long ago when we were evaluating our first prototypes. I am confident that we stack up at least as well as they do from a quality/performance standpoint, at ~half the price.
