  1. HAWG TECH, LLC 2012 New Product Press Release Palm Beach Gardens, FL, July 2012- The new Hawg Handle from Hawg Tech is a carbon fiber reel handle for bait-casting reels featuring premium design and performance features found in enthusiast gear. The distinguishing feature of the Hawg Handle is the finely crafted, high-grade cork knobs attractively mounted to aluminum carriers. Each cork knob assembly is supported by two ABEC 5 stainless steel ball bearings providing ultra-smooth cranking. This unique and attractive design not only provides comfortable cranking power, but also provides a substantial weight reduction over factory handles. The 3.8mm thick, 3k twill carbon fiber body is brutally strong and light. The Hawg Handle is also slightly longer than most standard handles translating into increased cranking power and comfort. There are two basic Hawg Handle models covering virtually all bait-casting reels on the market. For more information, go to www.hawgtech.com. Specs: • Length: 94mm (shaft-to-shaft) • Weight: 25grams • MSRP: $79
  2. Quillback, We appreciate the well wishes. FL_Sharpshooter, Each knob is supported by two ball bearings, mounted on a fixed spindle. See below, showing the text from our press release...it gives a little more detailed description of the product.
  3. Matt/A-Jay, Thanks for the encouraging words. I think you will find the latest production material to be even better.
  4. DIggy/BASSclary, The Hawg Handle will sell for $79. RobertBG, The handles are built in our shop in South Florida.
  5. Hello, fellow BR members. Many of you know my partner Robert (SouthFla) and I...we've been active members of this site for awhile. We have recently launched a company called Hawgtech.com. Our initial product is a carbon fiber reel handle which we're calling the Hawg Handle. Our primary goal was to create a high performance reel handle at a price point much below the JDM handles but at a similiar quality level. To further up the ante, we wanted to create a handle with cork knobs. We think we've accomplished those goals with the Hawg Handle. We've been field testing the handle for about eight months now...we've had these handles in the hands of South Florida pros/guides and many BR members here who you have come to know.....Capt Shane Procell, Dwight Hottle, bocabasser, LGmouthgambler, shallow thinker, and a couple others who I will refrain from mentioning for the time being (I promise...you will know who they are). The response we've received to the product has been overwhemingly positive. You will immediately notice the difference in performance...these handles are lighter, longer and smoother than virtually any stock handle in existence. And they look pretty good too. We hope you'll give us a look (www.hawgtech.com) and check us out on facebook. We are still a couple weeks away from offering final product for release...we are making some final tweaks to the design per the input of our user trial personnel and the website is still a little bit a work in progress. But we are very close to launchingthe Hawg Handle. Robert and I are proud to be aboard as sponsors of BR and we hope to be doing this for a long time to come. I will be announcing a sweepstakes very shortly for BR members and encourage all BR members who might be interested in this product to participate. Thanks, Mike and Robert (Team Hawgtech)
  6. I haven't fished in a couple weeks. Tried a couple times, but got chased off by weather. Gonna try the lake tomorrow and maybe slims tourney on Sunday.
  7. Those are indeed some HAWGS. Nice work!
  8. Doug, Does tomorrow late afternoon (Monday) work for you, weather pending? I would love to fish those rock pits with you.
  9. I would love to go! Maybe an afternoon trip this week?
  10. You're right, Dwight. Such a great support team here at Bass Resource. Bobby Uhrig, it really was a pleasure meeting you yesterday. You are doing it right. Your company, your products and support staff are all top notch. Robert and I really appreciate all the great advice you've given us and we thank you very much for your help and helping us establish new contacts. And Steve "Big O" Parks...I can't express how much Robert and I appreciate your help. We are just so impressed by your enthusiam, your knowledge, and your support. You have literally changed our business model (and for the better). Whatever accolades you receive on this forum are not enough. Thanks, again, to Glenn and the entire Bass Resource staff. You guys are top notch also. This is the best bass fishing site on the net, and it's not even close. I am already looking forward to seeing you all again at ICAST 2013.
  11. I'm at ICAST here with my partner Robert (SouthFla). I'm a first timer and to say it is a bit overwhelming is an understatement. I know I walked 10miles yesterday and I still haven't seen everything I want to see. It's virtually impossible to name all the fishing industry leaders that we met yesterday...Got to spend some time with Steve "Big O" Parks, who is every bit as gracious and encouraging in person as he is on this forum. We met Glenn...a great guy.who you can just tell his integrity by talking to him and by the way he conducts this forum. Robert and I discussed with Glenn about becoming sponsors of this site and we are very excited for that to happen. We plan to launch our first product in the coming week. Overall, it's been an awesome experience. Attended a very useful seminar yesterday. Met many leaders of the fishing world. There's a ton of elite series pros here. Spent time talking fishing with Skeet Reese yesterday. Talked with Chris Lane who was doing some video shots with my friends at the Gambler booth. Had a beer with Chris Zaldain and Brandon Palaniuk at the hotel lobby Wednesday night. They approached us having seen our product and showed considerable interest toward it. We're very encouraged about that. We're having just a great time here. I'm literally a 40 year old kid in a candy store. Bobby, I'm going to try and find you today. Anyone else I've missed, please send me an IM.
  12. Just show up at Slims and give the nice girl your money.
  13. Slims tourney is the last Saturday and second Sunday of each month. I fished it for the first time today. That fish Bruce has in his left hand is bigger than the bag I would have weighed (I didn't bother). It's a completely different lake than a week ago. Talked to a couple buddies who fished today, one who fished that BASS tourney. The flipping bite is completely gone. I tried my hand offshore today. Didn't catch a fish out there. There's a lot of freaking water on Okeechobee! (duh) I got a lot to learn about that offshore deal... Congrats to you Bruce. 20 lbs is awesome on a day like today...there were only a few bags over 10. You got em on call out there!
  14. Yeah, man...I love my flats boat. Salt or fresh water...I can take it super skinny in the marsh trails. Flamingo. The inlets. Everglades. Okeechobee. I can do basically every kind of fishing I want to do (not really an off-shore fisherman)...
  15. Dale! We've been wondering what happened to you. It sure is fun catching beastly snook.. It's getting that time of year where I will start targeting them a little bit. Good to see you're still slaying the fish...
  16. Bruce, enjoyed the trip, bud! We did pretty good, I think, under fairly tough conditions and the middle of the afternoon. You had that flipping stick dialed up! Anytime you got a backseat open, give me a call.
  17. I went to Lox yesterday for the first time since Bruce and I went out on 6/13. Nice overcast day...relatively cool, decent breeze. I fished from 2:30-6:30. The bite wasn't great...fish were really scattered, but the ones I found were active. I got a 4+ and my biggest of the year out there...8.16lb. 25.5" long and F-A-T. I was thinking "9" when I lipped her, but the scale don't lie. My last four trips out there= 10 fish over 4, two 7s and an 8. I wish this weather would blow over...I'm itching to get out there...
  18. Wow...that was a very nice write up. Ive had the "Muskie Shakes" before....I used to do alot of Muskie fishing on Mille Lacs/Leech Lake (MN) That is some intense fishing.
  19. Haha....good point! He'll get his DD before me, I am guessing!
  20. I ran out of Aruko Shads one day on Okeechobee, in the middle of an absolute feeding frenzy on that bait. I swore I'd never run out of them again. The next time TW had a sale on them, I bought 40. Every sale since then I've purchased a couple dozen.
  21. Yeah, Shane, it would be awesome to fish Lox at night. Might need a blood transfusion after those mosquitoes got done with you, though. I believe Bruce is fishing with Steve Waters today, outdoors writer from the Sun-Sentinel. All So Fla members....keep an eye out for the article, which should be printing in the coming days.
  22. Nothing like an angry toad slamming a topwater on a quiet morning! I'm definitely going to take you up on that lake trip.
  23. Wow....get your hand bit off by a gator and then followed by a probable criminal charge for tampering with a gator. Bad day at the office.
  24. Went out today with Bruce (bocabasser) for a half day trip to Loxahatchee. Real tough conditions...bluebird skies and no wind. We did pretty good under the circumstances, I think...we caught about 20-25 fish with a 7.32lb and a 4.40lb and a couple in the three range. maybe 20lb bag. Caught fish pretty much everyway possible, today...topwater, cranks, worms, pitchin, flippin, jig... Bruce is a great guy to fish with and he's one hell of a fisherman. Little doubt in my mind why he is the reigning King of the Glades. I'm a little concerned that this good fishing at Lox is gonna slow down a little bit. Fish were much tougher to catch today than on Saturday. Flats are considerably shallower than a week ago and they're really heating up. 91degree water temp when I left @ 2:00 today.
  25. Thanks everybody. Luke will be thrilled to read all the encouraging comments. He's becoming a pretty good fisherman. Absolutely loves topwater fishing and peacock bass fishing. Catching peacock on a tiny torpedo is probably his favorite thing to do. Refuses to use senkos now...LOL. No tournaments or anything like that for him...just trying my best to keep it fun right now. If he wants to do that stuff as he gets older, I'll support him.
