Lox Is Red Hot!
Lox can be a tough nut to crack. Those fish might be in the canals, in the flats or way back in the trails. They move around a ton out there. In general, though, if you follow the water conditions you can kind of figure out where the better spots might be. in the last couple years, I've started watching the SFWMD (South Florida Water Management District) site pretty closely, and it has helped my fishing not only at Lox but at Holiday Park/Alligator Alley as well. It helps not only to know whether the water is high or low, but whether it is rising/falling. It is also important to know the quality of the water they are moving around out there. This weekend they were pushing a lot of water out of the pump houses out west...this is normally pretty good for some areas around the canals out west, but this water was nasty agricultural run-off and had a reddish color to it. The fish pushed out of that red water and into the nearest good water they good find. I figured this out pretty quickly (as soon as I had enough light to see the water clarity) and at my second stop I had six fish over four pounds in a half hour.

Lox Is Red Hot!
Anyone get out to Lox this weekend? I went out yesterday morning with my son Luke. Awesome doesn't begin to describe the bite....I was off the water at 8:30AM with ~20lb bag (and a broken trolling motor ). All fish caught on topwater...spooks and chug bugs. Luke has a new favorite bait...the chug bug.

Citica Upgrade???
Fishwhittler, thanks for the mention. ULG, I sell ceramic hybrid spool bearings for the Citica E (ABEC7, ceramic ball, stainless races.) for $18/pair. If you use the Bass Resource coupon code when ordering (BRG15) you'll get 15% off your order. $15.30/pair. You won't touch that price anywhere. Some places charge that much (and more) for one bearing. See video below. Free spool on stock Curado goes from ~12 seconds to 80-100 seconds, just replacing the stock bearings with our ABEC7 hybrids.

Pick A Jerkbait Rod For Me
I like this rod also for jerkbaits. Has the right action and tip for me. The rod butt length is short also which you will come to appreciate when fishing jerkbaits.

Question About Numbers On My Quantum Accurist??
Bassin, It is for you to adjust when you change your line. It is an indicator that tells you what pound test you have on that reel.

Which Line For Spinnerbaits
I use both flouro and braid for spinner baits, depending upon conditions. I like using #50 braid if fishing thick grass like kissimmee grass or pepper grass. If the spinner bait gets hung up, just pull straight back and keep fishing (I notice I get a lot of my bites, when that bait "rips" out of a snag...reaction strike). I like the braid for this kind of fishing, also, because braid really transmits vibration well (when taut) and you can easily tell if you have some vegetation on your lure. You want to use a long, med action rod with a fast tip for this kind of fishing. You want some compliance in the system to keep the fish buttoned up, since the braid doesn't stretch. For open water/clear water, I like using 12-14lb flouro. I think I get more bites than I do with braid when fishing in the open/clear water, and the flouro runs a little deeper.

Police & Fire Olympics
There were some big fish biting, yesterday. Robert and I were out there fun fishing and we found one tiny little area that had some monsters. Got into three of them about this sized in like an hour's time. We found these fish @ about noon and we left em biting to go recharge at the tiki bar (we didn't bring food). One thing led to another and we never made it back to that spot...I'm hoping they're still there!

Father's Day Weekend Sale.
Thanks guys. The handles are gone. Hope you all had a great Father's Day. See picture in the link below, father and son Ed and Corey with their new Father's Day presents. Corey (on the right) is the IGFA World Record holder for the Bullseye Snakehead (+14lbs). They were breaking their stock handles and needed something stronger against these very hard fighting fish.

Father's Day Weekend Sale.
I have 10 Hawg Handles with Shimano Septon knobs for sale for $59. Handle comes just as shown, fully assembled with mounting hardware (in bottom portion of the packaging). You can upgrade to the cork knobs later if you wish. The Hawg Handle fits virtually ALL bait cast reels. This is a relatively inexpensive way to get introduced to the benefits of a carbon fiber fishing reel handle, if you have not yet tried it. If interested in ordering, send email to support@hawgtech.com. I only have 10 of these (max 2 per customer, please). https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=525231467512760&set=a.400118190024089.76626.400113070024601&type=1&theater Mike

Toshie, Sorry for your loss. You and Ed will be in my prayers.

A Sad Day
Very sad to hear about it. My prayers go out to the family. Does anyone know the name of the angler? I heard he was in a West Palm Beach bass club. The links posted earlier are from the 2012 BFL incident...

Lake Okeechobee.....i Love Her & I Hate Her

Lox 6-9
Bruce, You were leaving as I was arriving yesterday. The good bite continued after you left. I got two in the 4-5lb range, but my son and I lost three more. I got a +7lb out there Friday and lost one yesterday that felt the same, if not bigger. This rain we had recently cooled the water down nicely and the big ones were cooperating this weekend. https://www.hawgtech.com/blog

Bass On ~50 Casts In A Row
Check out this video of Tom Mann Jr schooling the schoolies on Okeechobee. I actually ran into him today at Roland Martin's Tiki Bar. He was having lunch with some clients and he remembered me, as my group used to sponsor him (and Bernie Schultz). He showed me this video on his Iphone and I thought I'd share it with you all. Yes, I know the spot. No, I ain't telling!

Music While Fishing
Probably catch the heck out of some peacock bass with that retrieve!

Kotg
Yeah, I got big fish Sunday. I could have used a couple more, though. Bruce is right. This series is great...just show up and fish. They don't call it "King of the Glades" for nothing though. A very competitive group...a lot of pros/guides/local sticks(like Bruce!)/glades rats out there. Very friendly for the most part. Come on out!

Holiday Park?
I fished Holiday Park Saturday with Leo DeVega. We caught 21lbs and lost a 6-7lb right by the boat that would have put us around 24 (didn't bring the net). I'll be fishing solo at KOTG Sunday. If you see me out there come say hi!

Holiday Park?
I went there last Sunday with my seven year old son. We only fished from 9-1:30 and our five biggest were about 15lb...so the fishing was a little better than what I was expecting. More details on my blog, check the last entry... www.hawgtech.com/blog
