Show off your Stuff
My flipping sticks, shown heavy to light....top to bottom: Savvy 766, Champion 805, Champ Extreme 795. Handle accent colors match the accents on the Dobyn's rods. Useful feature for quickly determining which rod to throw in a given situation.

I fished Ghosts and Goblins with Jack (shallow thinker). We caught our share of fish... but just couldn't get the big bites. We weighed a little over 11lbs. My spots down south were destroyed by three days of big North winds. Had fun though...steady action, good weather, and great company. Doesn't get much better than that. The lake was fishing pretty tough....82 boats, only two weighed more than 20 lbs. Some of the big names were out there also (Brandon, Jared, Val, Ruiz, Keyso). Winner was Walls/Brown....they caught 24lbs with big fish of 7.8lb. Nice haul for those guys...took home about $4000 in winnings.

Thanks guys. Frankly, I wasn't expecting too much...both Leo and I had both only fished the lake about 3-4 times since July. I've only fished one tourney since April. He had one good spot though and I had one good one and we milked those two areas for all they were worth. The guys I talked to were struggling to get quality bites, but we were getting em and putting them in the boat. Not sure what happened with the FGCU tourney. I didn't pay the entry to enter that one simultaneously...maybe I should have??? Who is going to the Ghosts and Goblins tourney this week?

Leo and I won BLMs tourney today out of Belle Glade today with 20.63lbs. Started out slow but we figured em out and by 11:00 were culling 3lbers steady. Second was 17 something with a 7. Fun day on the lake, but really friggin hot. Will someone turn the AC on down here please?

Flip/punch Combo <$200
I have flipped up at least 100 fish over 5lbs this year on my $200 rig...A quantum accurist reel I bought for less than $50 on ebay and a dobyns savvy 766 (FLIP/PUNCH) rod purchased for about $130 during a discounted sale. I personally believe those two items might be two of the best value purchases available in bass fishing (besides Hawgtech ceramic bearings)

I'm going to fish BLM's tourney Sunday out of Slims. It's my first tourney in about four months and a little pumped to get back in the swing of things again. Would love to meet up with any of you who happen to be there.

Lake O
I fished Okeechobee yesterday. First time on the lake in over three months. We got a little bit of a late start...fished from 7:30 - 1:00. Nothing going at all on moving baits. Finally caught a few flipping. Only caught about eight fish, but size was good. I got one good one (7.3lbs) and a couple 3s. I lost another fish that was an absolute beast... (hoping it was a mudfish). Scraped together about a 16lb bag....if that beast I lost was a bass I was well in the 20s (Jared McMillian won the tourney yesterday @ 23lb w/ a 10lber). I fished about 15 stretches and only two of them had any fish at all. I feel pretty good about those two stretches...need to find a couple more (going out again this Thursday) to feel OK for my tourney next Sunday.

I'm gonna give it a go this weekend. Next Thursday also....Haven't been there since first week of July.

Lox Is Closed??!!!
Lox being shut down is a joke. All it does is take in money (dropbox honor system). It's not even staffed. There's a couple garbage cans there which get taken out probably once a month. They spent more effort sending someone out to lock the place up then they would spend keeping it open. I'm a little bit bitter, in case you can't tell. I've been crushing the hawgs out there every single trip since the second week of August. I've got at least 50 fish over 5lbs since then. And I've got a tournament out there third week of October. I saw Byron Velvick post on Facebook that Lake Amistad is closed also.

Maico, I am a little late finding this thread, but I appreciate your positive comments. I enjoyed talking with you on the phone and just BSing about fishing and stuff. And those reels look awesome by the way. If you ever need anything else from us, you know how to find me...

Bfl At The Lake
30th Annual Ghost and Goblins on 10/27/13 The 30th annual Ghost and Goblins tournament date is coming up on Sunday October 27th out of Clewiston. This tournament helps raise money for the "Friends of SATC Inc" (formerly Friends of Our House)helping physically & sexually abused children in Broward County. BigReel Bassmasters, the sponsors of the tournament, has donated over $135,000 in the past 29 years. Here's a chance to help kids, fish & try to win some cash all rolled into one. In these difficult economic times, those who need help the most are often the first victims of government retrenchment and cutbacks. Unfortunately, even abused and neglected children in Broward County have been some of the most severe victims of this situation. The "Ghosts and Goblins" Annual Open Tournament allows bass fishermen to compete against one another while helping to support those children most in need of support. So the message to fishermen is to spend the weekend up there and enjoy a great tournament. Roland's always gives the Ghost & Goblin fisherman a good deal on lodging for the weekend. The 2013 Ghosts & Goblins Entry Form flyers can be downloaded from the BigReel web site (http://www.bigreel.org ). Entry fee this year is still $120.00 which includes the big fish pot. Here is the entry site: http://www.bigreel.org/yahoo_site_admin/assets/docs/bigreel_entry_form_2013.244102818.pdf

Sorry to hear about it, Bruce. Very frustrating fishing a tourney, knowing where the fish are, and not being able to get to them because of equipment. Your boat is good enough, for sure!

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle
Fishwhittler, No, we only carry black carbon fiber. Black/silver accents means black retainer and silver accent pieces (end caps, spindles, knob carrier). The heading used to say "retainer color" and now it says "color" so I can see how that might be confusing. Looks like I need to take a look at that again. Thanks! Mike

Looking good guys!

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle
John, I will try and put up a picture with a Calcutta later. I can tell you that the "light gold" matches the Calcutta perfectly! In fact, the color matching for our light gold anodizing was done using a Calcutta reel as the template.

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle
Like I said, I haven't got my hands on a Lexa yet, but I would bet that we save a lot of weight. This new handle only weighs 24 grams (assembled, with cork knobs) Send me a note at support@hawgtech.com. Let me know you're DarrenM from the forum. Thanks! Mike

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle
As Bass Junkie noted...you can buy a handle without knobs ($49 straight/$59 swept) and put your Shimano knobs on the handle. We include everything needed to convert your stock Shimano handle to carbon fiber (bearings, mounting screws, retainers, end caps, etc...). This is a very inexpensive way to experience the benefits that a carbon fiber/4X bearing handle can give you.

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle
Speedbead, We definitely fit the Curado 300/301E and the Cardiff. We have not yet verified fit on the Lexa, but I am 99% certain we fit it. If you have a Lexa and would like to verify fit for us, we could probably work out a deal for you on a new swimbait handle...

Hawg Tech 102Mm Swept Handle
Robert and I would like to announce that we are now selling our 102mm swept handle. You may have seen a few of these around...we've been selling some on pre-order basis. We now have our inventory and website complete so we are announcing the 102mm swept handle for general release. This handle is longer, lighter (24grams!) and less bulky than the original 94mm long "Hawg Handle". We did not compromise strength, though...this handle retains the "zero flex" characteristic of the original Hawg Handle. Actually, we have a video of Robert running over the carbon fiber profile with his truck/boat and the handle doesn't budge (don't try this with your JDM handle!) The new swept handle from Hawg Tech is now for sale on our website. Just go to https://www.hawgtech.com/category/hawg-handle and click your reel at the bottom of the page to get started. It is available in six anodized colors to match your rod and/or reel. These color options are now available on the website as pull down menu options. As always, if you have any questions/comments send us a note at support@hawgtech.com. Thanks! Mike and Robert Hawg Tech, LLC

A guy we fish with in King Of the Glades (Tim Feller) won it. He had a massive comeback today, making up almost a 10lb deficit to win the tourney.
