  1. Thinking I might go try this today.
  2. Another vote for "love it"!
  3. I loathe geese. Just this past Monday, my buddy and I were out in his boat all by ourselves on our local pond. This one goose flies in, lands on the water, and proceeds to just honk for an hour straight. It was a long ways away from us, but loud and annoying none the less. Between their nasty nature and the mess they make on the banks, there is nothing good about geese.
  4. It's tough here in CT from the bank this time of year, too. However, a week ago today, I caught my new personal best largemouth off the bank of my favorite local pond. Temp was in the mid 50's, bluebird sky, lots of sun, but the water temp was surely still in the 40's. I was throwing an X-Rap and probably just got plain lucky. I fished from the same spot (and others) the next day and got nothing, and then spent six hours in a boat on there this past Monday and got nothing, though my partner boated one little dink. We didn't see anything cruising the banks, so it's still way early here, so again I know I just got lucky, and I'm not overly frustrated with the lack of fish right now. As much as I was shocked to land such a big fish (for me) to begin with, it was all the more shocking that it was so early in the year. Just keep hitting it and it'll come. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/84701-1st-time-out-in-11-new-pb/
  5. Beautiful fish! Congrats!
  6. Haha, come to think of it, me too!
  7. I think he's referring to the fact that your answers came off as very short and very sarcastic, which isn't the norm for this site. While that may not have been the intent, and I don't think it was, an answer like "Google it", could come from my grandmother, and is not at all helpful. This site is here for people of a like interest to help others and share in this interest. I can Google "Carolina Rig" and find out how to rig one, but I would come here and ask because I trust the opinions on here and can have a back and forth Q&A about it. As far as your signature goes, it's hard to disagree that it comes off as a bit cocky, but to each their own on that, that's why we're allowed to have whatever signature we want. Tight lines, man!
  8. I just replaced a broken treble with a red, because that's all I could find in the size that I needed. I really haven't put much stock into red hooks, though. I didn't feel that they helped me at all with soft plastics in the last couple of years.
  9. Awesome! Can't wait for my guy to hook his first bass!
  10. Great job, guys! I'm hoping to get on the swim jig like that, this year, too!
  11. Thanks Big O! I have some of your stuff in my bag this year for the first time, so I hope I can best this on your behalf!
  12. Killer! That swell before the strike is totally heart stopping!
  13. Well as a (mostly) bank fisherman, I COMPLETELY disagree with this train of thought. I want every bit of distance I can get if I need it. I can always cast shorter.
  14. This My first year I got serious about bass fishing I had one ML 6'6" rod with a 3000 size spinning reel. Somebody sold me the rod for $10 because the cheap rod I had lost a guide and I just needed something. It definitely caught me some fish that season, but the ML power was a little unruly when it came to dealing lures getting caught um in weeds and the like.
  15. I have a Cabela's Tournament ZX 2500A reel mounted to a 6'6" MXF Cabela's Prodigy rod, that I'm very pleased with.
  16. I'm really digging the looks of the new Owner Wacky Jighead.
  17. I picked up the YUM Big Show kit off of Lurenet for $7.99 a few weeks ago, so I'm excited to start doing some shaky head fishing. Probably some T-Rigged Baby Rage Craws, too. What do you all use for a hook for those?
  18. I've caught fish on Senkos and Dingers, but I still don't have the confidence in them that I'd like to have, especially when nothing else is working. However, I'll always have a rig ready for one (if I don't have a shaky head tied on first).
  19. Congrats, man! Same here, only it was on Wednesday! It was also my new P.B., and my first of this year! There's a whole bunch of lefty Accurist PT501's (older model) all over the internet for cheap right now. I got one on eBay for $51 shipped, and just this week I ordered another one from www.boatersworld.com, for $43 shipped. Paired each with Cabela's XML rods I got out of the local Bargain Cave for $53 each, I have d**n good setups for cheap.
  20. Now those are some good deals!
  21. I picked up some of the Silver Shad swim jigs from Northstar during the sale last week. I was looking for a similar colored trailer the other day when I found the new Havoc "Deuce" in Smoke Sparkle (I believe was the name of it). I threw it for a little while yesterday. Didn't catch anything on it (or anything else), but the sun was high and the water was clear, so I could see it coming back at me for a long time, and what a great looking presentation!
  22. And you will. Then you'll be wishing you had that $80 To actually buy something, though; I learned the hard way this week - If you don't have a scale, get one. Caught my new P.B. on Wednesday, didn't have a scale. Now I do.
  23. Thanks guys! P.S. - I own a scale now.
